Just heard this on breaking news.

From midnight tonight? Bad news for anyone who is there now and due to travel home. We were supposed to be going at the end of August and now I’m limbo about what to do!!!

We could afford to lose the cost yes

We could also afford the medical bills if it came to it. So it’s neither here nor there for us.

I think you have a privilege many don't then, which I am sure you realise.

I do. I’m incredibly blessed. I thank my lucky stars each day.

Money isn’t everything though.

I've got my annual holiday to Ibiza booked for October but I'm calling up BA Holidays on Friday to see if we can move it to April. We've only paid £300 deposit so we'll just cancel and rebook if necessary. It's £500 cheaper in April so won't lose out in the end if they say no. I haven't got enough A/L left for 2 weeks quarantine.

We booked in January so travel insurance is valid anyway, and they've actually specified this happening so I can get back the deposit.

Think I'd feel safer going next year anyway

@EasterIssland

Those of you saying how can be some people be thinking about travelling abroad whilst we’re in the middle of a pandemic I hope have stayed at home and only gone out for essentials. Not meeting with families or friends. , not going to the park for some exercise , def no going to drinks or thinking about a break day and also not going to any uk holiday. We’re in a pandemic at the end of the day
Yes, I have been nowhere and seen no one. I'm quite used to it now and will be happy to continue this way until things are safe.

As travel insurance is invalid due to FCO advice then at least make sure you have an up to date EHIC card if you are still intending to head to Spain. I believe you may have to pay some upfront medical costs, if you were unfortunate to need medical care, but should be able to request a refund when back in the U.K.

Battleface travel insurance looks like it covers you for these situations, so probably worth a look
