Do we think the PM Is going to allow the rest of us to hang out in our gardens now?

I set fire to my bakery on Pudding Lane in 1666 because I knew smoke alarms would be invented 200 years later. I wrote a blog about this at the time.

"I turned up half an hour late to my own press conference just to check if everyone's watches were working"

KisstheTeapot14 · 26/05/2020 20:13

BBC Documentary interesting - Its called Take Back Control if you've not seen it.

Sadly, neuro-diversity - suggested upthread - doesn't stop people from being unpleasant bullies whose philosophy is 'stop at nothing'.

As much as I don't like or respect the man, he does have a bit of maverick style. The documentary suggests he likes to think of himself as a bit of an evil genius.

But do we want an evil genius pulling the strings of government?

Rose garden scene - perhaps all that was missing was a purring fluffy white cat.

vera99 · 26/05/2020 20:14

@ITonyah I think MN should ban users that want to ban posts that accuse posters of being bots. It is absolutely pathetic.

KisstheTeapot14 · 26/05/2020 20:14

Yes, the blog. Evil genius with side line in ''prophecy''....

My peachy backside.

Kearney · 26/05/2020 20:18

Gaslighting at it’s finest 🤭😡

ToffeeYoghurt · 26/05/2020 20:20

Slight derail but is a bot a real person paid to post or literally a robot/AI?

vera99 · 26/05/2020 20:23

My Family did accept £200,000 in EU Farm subsidies but only to show that it's open to abuse by unscrupulous Millionaires.

I had to take my covid positive family to Durham to test out the isolation procedures at the local hospital.

KisstheTeapot14 · 26/05/2020 20:25

Just to clarify my peachy backside is not a bot in disguise. In case you were wondering.

Also, it followed the lock down rules to the letter.

Like most sensible and responsible people.

Estimates I saw (BBC news) were that over 80% of the UK population stuck to the rules. We now know who some of the remaining 20% are at least....

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 26/05/2020 20:27

Slight derail but is a bot a real person paid to post or literally a robot/AI?

I was wondering that too....

FliesandPies · 26/05/2020 20:39

Evil geniuses (genii?) always seem to come to sticky ends don't they?

KisstheTeapot14 · 26/05/2020 20:45

Let's hope so.

I strongly suspect his plans for education or the health system are benign. His agenda appears to be very right wing libertarianism.

On the bright side, shares in health insurance companies will go up*.

*Always read the small print and check USA for serious implications

KisstheTeapot14 · 26/05/2020 20:46

Sorry - are NOT benign.

Mizzmoggs · 26/05/2020 20:53

Watching him at that interview I thought he was Neurotypical. Add in that he professes not to care what others think, is not social and doesn’t interact with the press because he does not trust them.

The there is the answer that he ‘does not regret’. No politician would say that but a neurotypical person would be likely to.
The thinking would be that given the facts he would come to the same conclusion without factoring the social element.
.....
Why wasn’t MP Kinnock given the same treatment when he travelled to see his fit and healthy parents at the beginning of lockdown. Then there is the MP who went to a birthday party, the one that went to a funeral with 99 other people, the one eating fish and chips. All just a mention.

.....
It seems that he did follow the rules. We did not read the small print and neither it seems did the press who then failed to inform us all. There was a question asked about it in March when Jenny Harries talked about the care of young children.

ITonyah · 26/05/2020 20:54

I think a bot is literally AI, and a shill is someone paid to post?

FliesandPies · 26/05/2020 20:58

Malign? Grin

Yes, I really hope he will get taken out before he do more damage to our social structures. He is an ideologue who doesn't seem to comprehend - or actively despises - ordinary people and their lives.

Alsohuman · 26/05/2020 21:00

Why wasn’t MP Kinnock given the same treatment when he travelled to see his fit and healthy parents at the beginning of lockdown

Perhaps because he admitted he was wrong and apologised. I think he was fined and paid it too.

lilgreen · 26/05/2020 22:09

He also didn’t have covid.

ListeningQuietly · 26/05/2020 22:20

If you are angry about Cummings, email your MP
tell THEM how you feel
www.parliament.uk/get-involved/contact-your-mp/
they work for you

Threads on here will make no difference
emails to MPs might

Opendraw · 26/05/2020 23:26

I think he was in a better position than pre interview you could almost just about go yup ok until he spun that utterly stupid story about testing His eyes and road worthiness with his family. If he had held his hands
Up and said I made a mistake we did go out for a jolly I would have still wanted him to resign but I wools have respected him more. He has treated the public like morons what a story.

TheLittleDogLaughed · 27/05/2020 04:15

When I want to test my eyesight, I get DH to stand in the corner of the lounge and I throw little blobs of jelly at him, trying to get them into his mouth. Perhaps DC could have tried that?

Alternatively he could have asked his wife to drive them back to London.

Lweji · 27/05/2020 04:25

Watching him at that interview I thought he was Neurotypical

Did you mean NOT Neurotypical or Neurodiverse, instead?

Hillary4 · 27/05/2020 08:42

He was lying and taking the P155 out of us
It's a big game to him and Alexander Johnson - why use a different name?- disrespectful and will result in another spike and even more people die than needed to under these two clowns

History will look back and these two and the happy clappers will be silence

It's not a game, it's our families lives

Tests
PPE
Lockdown timing

There's so much more

Sophicles · 27/05/2020 10:49

I must be getting old, but I can remember a time when bus drivers were allowed to do things that the passengers weren't. It probably extended to their driving instructors as well.
Sic transit, eh?

ProfessionalWeirdo · 27/05/2020 11:04

I'm beginning to wonder if this is all part of a much darker hidden agenda. People will start to think "If DC can do this and get away with it, then why shouldn't we?" But maybe that's what DC and his puppet BoJo want us to think. Maybe they want us to rebel against the lockdown rules, so that if there is another spike it will then be our fault not theirs. Or - perhaps even more sinister - maybe they WANT to encourage irresponsible behaviour, so that the virus will spread, killing off the elderly and saving the government the cost of paying their pensions.

CuriousPixie · 27/05/2020 11:28

I too feel like it's all part of a jolly game to see how much they can get away with. For BJ, he just wanted to see if he could get the top job but without having to do any of the hard work that goes along with it. For DC, definitely just to see how we can be played.

For someone who is supposed to be a mastermind strategist he is either incredibly stupid to make certain comments (I don't think he's stupid), or incredibly clever and we're part of some giant scenario to test our gullibility, our compliance, our intelligence, our integrity, our collective humanity. I'm going with the latter.

The rambling 'make the statement fit the timeline' shite that he came away with was astonishing enough and he might just have gotten away with it until the utterly incredulous statement that he went for a drive to test his eyesight. That's up there with the inject bleach statement by Trump. That was the giant, in your face, 'fuck you lot I'm untouchable' side ball chucked in.

As for the press. Yes they can be vile but bloody hell they mustn't stop asking hard questions and this lot must be held to account or we're definitely in Trumpland. My biggest problem with the press is not thinking fast enough on their feet to ask the questions the public are screaming at the TV from their sofas:

  • you thought your wife had Covid and was worried enough to drive to Durham but you still came back into work before you headed off
  • you did this because you were worried for the safety of your child but you then stuck same child in back of car whilst you tested your eyesight
  • you went to Durham to get help from family but then didn't even use them to help take child/wife to/from hospital because you didn't want to infect them, so why go in the first place?
  • your circumstances are not exceptional to millions of other households in this land who have less privileges than you. They didn't follow their instincts to stick to the rules, why should you be allowed to follow yours?
  • if your London home was a security risk why were you so desperate to return there?
  • did you phone the police?
  • why couldn't you use Zoom for meetings?
  • why didn't you contact family/friends in London?
  • why did you think driving to test your eyes was a good idea?
  • why did your son need a pee on a half hour journey but managed ok on a 4 hour one?

The list goes on and on and his story now has more holes and thrown up even more questions.

But that aside, he is just one person, it's the Government's attitude in dealing with it that is more damning than DC's actions.

It's a big game and we're being played. We are not making sacrifices for the greater good, we are the sacrifices (so said Fintan O'Toole).
