Do we think the PM Is going to allow the rest of us to hang out in our gardens now?

Not sure if this has been said already, but who in their right fucking mind decides to drive and test their eyesight on a public road with their wife and child in the car. Even if that bullshit was true (ha!) it would still be completely idiotic behaviour - lockdown or not.

The best I can contribute is at least the lying bastard wore a shirt

dementedma · 25/05/2020 21:31

I thought it was the modern day equivalent of a lynch mob. Same questions over and over again by piss poor journalists enjoying their chance to stone the guy in the stocks. It was embarrassing to watch

ITonyah · 25/05/2020 21:32

The press came out of this worse. The questions from the journalists sounded pathetic. I'd imagine Keir Starmer might do a better job at PMQs.

jugglingbeans · 25/05/2020 21:34

DementedMa you are so right, they couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Has the guy who was supposed to supply the stones been sacked yet?

That was for 'New DVLA eye sight requirements'

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 21:40

I thought it was the modern day equivalent of a lynch mob

People didn't invite lynch mobs to come and question them Hmm. it was Cummings choice to do this and a very stupid move as he has further reduced himself in the eyes of those who believed all the shit about his big brain.

He might hang on to his job for a bit but he is permanently damaged and shown up for what he really is - yet another rich arrogant twat who thinks rules are for little people

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 25/05/2020 21:53

@Babymamamama

"He should have been self isolating for 14 days if his wife had symptoms. I'm not sure why he thought he could get back to work"
He did self-isolate for 14 days.

No PMQ's this week due to recess

mondaynoon · 25/05/2020 22:12

Aside from him breaking the rules of lockdown, I seriously worry about him having such an important role in the running of our country. His judgement seems impaired - who the hell drives somewhere with their family because they're not sure about their eyesight? Or puts their child in a car for four or five hours when they suspect they have Covid?

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 22:17

I think this will embolden a lot of ministers and civil servants who have previously been cowed by his intimidating demeanour. Now they can see he's just another hard-of-thinking arrogant posho his toxic influence will hopefully be lessened.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 25/05/2020 22:17

This is the first time I have ever heard him speak. I have never liked the look of him at all and did not expect him to come across as he did. I'd heard he was arrogant yet he certainly didn't come across like that at all.

I think he was reasonable and rational and very measured in responding to the press who virtually all banged on with the same question over and over again.

He is not a mug. He is not going to state he didn't return to Durham after 13th April if he did. It would be easy enough to prove. He has proof on his phone that he was not there on the dates stated. The press are out for him for whatever reason and are reporting inaccurate information. They hide behind 'sources' who talk bollocks.

I would have done exactly what he did in going to a separate building on his parents farm where, if necessary, his nieces, in age brackets that put them at lowest risk, could look after his child if necessary. Better that than have put someone else at risk in London if they'd looked after the child.

HannahStern · 25/05/2020 22:18

Dear Plebs,

When I refer to exceptional family circumstances, can I make it abundantly clear that I am referring to the circumstances of my exceptional family not exceptional circumstances.

Sincerely,
Dominic Mckenzie Cummings

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 22:20

Has Dominic got his family to join mumsnet, or are these just the usual paid for bots pretending poor Dom was hard done by?

You have totally underestimated the amount of public anger - even from people who take virtually no interest in politics.

“It is clear he has broken the rules. It could not be clearer.
I cannot think of a worse example of a breach of the lockdown rules.
For it then to be defended by the government just beggars belief.”
