I think this was cleverly designed to get people so mad that they will say to hell with this, I'm going to do what I want now.

Meaning herd immunity is achieved, and Gov don't have responsibility for easing the lockdown if another flare happens.

It is and alway was on us, the little people. And we will be blamed not them. Be wary.

MyDarlingWhatIfYouFly · 24/05/2020 18:03

Very well said - I've voted for a different party in almost every election to date and I don't have a "side".

I definitely think cummings should go. I cannot believe the government are rallying around him - destroying the last pieces of their credibility to save one aide's job. I'm left wondering why.

Redwinestillfine · 24/05/2020 18:03

So this means lockdown is officially over right? We can all do what the hell we like now?

whatashower · 24/05/2020 18:04

The damage done here is immense. There is no evidence to support any assertion that the original guidelines on risk transmission or severity of illness were wrong. If anything we are learning the virus is more pernicious. Yet more people will take this as all the justification they need to stretch and interpret the lockdown rules. And probably be responsible for a second wave. If I was a frontline worker watching that excremental briefing I would have thrown a brick through the telly.

Soontobe60 · 24/05/2020 18:04

@ThePianist38

Totally agree with his decision ,let’s not forget, Calderwood wasn’t sacked by Sturgeon either
That's because Calderwood did the gracious thing and resigned. Cummings and BJ, two peas in an elitist pod. Utter cunts the pair of them. Never have I been more ashamed to be British.

katmarie · 24/05/2020 18:04

I wrote to my MP last night, because I'm utterly livid about this, I'm not expecting a reply though, shes well known for blindly supporting the PM. One rule for them, another for us.

Walkaround · 24/05/2020 18:05

This shows who is really running the country - apparently not Boris Johnson, but the indispensable Dominic Cummings. Without him, Boris is just a deflated whoopee cushion.

BIWI · 24/05/2020 18:05

@ThePianist38

You've spectacularly missed the point of what I was saying.

Left and and right are angry with DC. You don't have to be one or the other to be annoyed with such hypocrisy and arrogance.

1forsorrow · 24/05/2020 18:05

I bet Steve Baker never thought he'd be accused of being a juvenile left wingers.

If it wasn't so tragic it would be hilarious.

Leighhalfpennysthigh · 24/05/2020 18:06

He must be gutted he pushed for this gig now.

He has the same expression on his face these days as he had on 24th June 2016 Wink

RubyViolet · 24/05/2020 18:06

He has just lied to our faces. Blatant.

Rosehip10 · 24/05/2020 18:06

Cummings wife is also a bullshitter

jugglingbeans · 24/05/2020 18:06

Either there is a mistake in the OED or the PM doesn't have the same command of the English language as I'd expect.

0blio · 24/05/2020 18:07

I have surprised myself with the anger I feel at this situation. I am in my sixties and have never experienced such arrogant incompetence from a government. There should be fucking riots.

category12 · 24/05/2020 18:07

Boris has a very loose understanding of integrity himself, @musicformorks Grin.

Leflic · 24/05/2020 18:07

No RTF but my father made the point that it was Cummings who posted the advert wanting “ people that think outside the box”.

Yet the only thing he could come up with was to drive his child himself. Not very inventive.

Limeandsodit · 24/05/2020 18:07

The nastiness from the left is astonishing.

They just don't stop.

1forsorrow · 24/05/2020 18:07

I think this was cleverly designed to get people so mad that they will say to hell with this, I'm going to do what I want now Boris didn't look like it was something designed.

Kitcat47 · 24/05/2020 18:08

I thought you couldnt get grandparents over the age of 70 to look after grandchildren as they are considered vulnerable?. We are stuck for child care!

BIWI · 24/05/2020 18:08

@katmarie I wasn't expecting a reply either, so I was very pleased that I did - and even more pleased that my MP isn't happy with DC either, despite being part of the government.

SimonJT · 24/05/2020 18:09

My reading comprehension is clearly poor.

Boris is being unfurloughed for tonight's briefing
ThePianist38 · 24/05/2020 18:10

BIWI is one to be angry and disappointed and a different thing to email your local MP about it ?? disregarding wether you’re left or right , emailing your local MP about a matter that he and the whole country was aware of is busybody childish behaviour

trappedsincesundaymorn · 24/05/2020 18:10

So there you have it. Driving from one end of the country to the other whilst infected is "saving lives", driving from one end of the country to the other if your healthy is reckless and putting lives at risk....righto then.

Howaboutanewname · 24/05/2020 18:11

DC just needs to resign and BJ needs to hold his hands up and apologise.

Mummyoflittledragon · 24/05/2020 18:11

Sky News reported letters are being forwarded to Tory HQ

This is my letter. I was so angry, I forgot to add a final sentence. But I am sure they will get the gist.
