What can I do, apart from signing a bunch of useless petitions, to get this little scrotebag sacked?

Boris is being unfurloughed for tonight's briefing
oldmum22 · 24/05/2020 17:49

Roberts Peston's face of frustration captured on screen as a result of the complete non answer from Boris, summed it all up . Disgraceful

BIWI · 24/05/2020 17:49

I wrote to my MP (a tory) last night, and was impressed to get a reply first thing today. This was (part) of his response:

Thank you for contacting me about the behaviour of Mr Cummings. Apparently he has issued a statement saying he broke neither the law nor the guidance however many questions remain unanswered. It is clear that whether or not he broke the law, he chose to ignore guidelines and the spirit of the law. I have raised my concerns and my disappointment at Mr Cummings' behaviour with the Whips Office. Ultimately it is for the Prime Minister to decide whether Mr Cummings remains in his position

Personally I think 'disappointment' is a bit too weak, but at least they have registered their views and done something.

Opendraw · 24/05/2020 17:50

Well she was
Pretty much forced to resign ...

BiggerBoat1 · 24/05/2020 17:51

I don't think I've ever been so angry about something a Prime Minister has done. I had low expectations of today's briefings, but I am genuinely shocked. If anyone ever had doubt about Boris Johnson's absolute lack of morals that has well and truly been cleared up. He has disrespected all of us who have stayed away from our families at great personal cost. He dismissed the media questioning and crashed through that briefing without properly answering a single question.

ArtieFufkinPolymerRecords · 24/05/2020 17:51

These briefings are NOT for the purpose of discussing the actions of any MPs/Aides - it is supposed to be for the purpose of discussing the coronavirus crisis. All the repeated questions about DC meant that we didn't learn a single thing about the progress which is hopefully being made. I hate the media.

Which is why DC should go, so that the focus can move back.
Why do you hate the media? Is it because they asked the questions 99% of the public want answered. I bet there was a collective groan at the carefully vetted questions from the members of the public.

BIWI · 24/05/2020 17:51

@Irnbroothenoo

I see the left are being juvenile again. Typical.

Really? You think people who are angry with Dominic Cummings are a) all left wingers and b) juvenile for being angry with someone who has displayed such blatant hypocrisy, as well as a disregard for the guidance that the government has issued?

Usernamealreadyexists · 24/05/2020 17:51

Right, so if we can rely on instinct to make decisions, lockdown is over? Fuck this government.

category12 · 24/05/2020 17:52

Because the Government pay precisely no attention to them

The government will definitely pay no attention to a bunch of people doing nothing but having a little moan on MN.

At least activism of various kinds has a chance of putting pressure on them.

SimonJT · 24/05/2020 17:53

We watch it with the BSL guy, even he couldn’t hide his expression tonight.

category12 · 24/05/2020 17:54

Write to your MP, @Supper16. That's one thing you could try. members.parliament.uk/members/Commons

B1rdbra1n · 24/05/2020 17:56

He just lied to our faces, we know he's lying, he knows we know but he expects us to defer to him anyway
how can anyone ever trust him now?
even if he felt he had no alternative but to take that position how can he allow himself to be so compromised that he has to suck up to that snake of a man?

fascinated · 24/05/2020 17:56

Don’t forget this, this is what you are NOT supposed to be thinking about:

“Stay Elite” 😂

LonelyGir1 · 24/05/2020 17:57

I'm shocked that he supports DC! Makes a mockery of lockdown.

100% and you just proved it 😂

YNK · 24/05/2020 17:58

Alan Bennet plays usually involve a delusion,
confidently and justifiably presented initially,
moving through withering self doubt and pathos,
to a humiliatingly ironic appeal for compassion and understanding,
reflection on the tragedy of the unintended collateral damage,
It always ends with deep and lasting grief.

Trumpspeach · 24/05/2020 17:59

I would like to think that he simply spectacularly misjudged the mood of the nation but I suspect that he simply doesn't give a damn about it.

Walkaround · 24/05/2020 17:59

Dominic Cummings flitted from one home to another when he didn’t need to. That’s a fact, given that he says he didn’t actually need any childcare help at any point - and if he had used a relative for childcare, whoever provided it would have been infected by his family, because he trapped his family in a car together for several hours instead of isolating from his wife and looking after his 4-year old himself. It’s highly unlikely after that were he and his child going to be virus free. Basically, he just wanted to be somewhere more comfortable and convenient.

Hannah888 · 24/05/2020 18:00

What a pity there is no PMQs on Wednesday.

sociallydistained · 24/05/2020 18:00

Can anyone give me a rundown of what was said? I've been over the thread but can't really see except people are angry!

Musicforsmorks · 24/05/2020 18:00

Not everyone is interested in party politics.
Many don’t have a ‘side’, neither left or right.

They can still judge an individual from either party.

The way people discuss politics on here reminds me of men arguing over their favourite football team.
We need to become responsible, for, our decisions, who we vote for and why. If we want progressive policy, we need to stop voting in regressive governments.

I’m not familiar with cummings.
He broke the rules.
Who cares what ‘side’ he is on?

I’m on neither.

JudyCoolibar · 24/05/2020 18:02

I suspect all the other Ministers told him firmly that they aren't prepared to face the public to try to defend Cummings so he had no choice but to turn up for once.

Musicforsmorks · 24/05/2020 18:02

I think I read somewhere that Boris said he thought cummings behaved with ‘integrity’.

Interesting 😁
