I know there will be a roadmap of milestones but...

What does everyone think will be eased first and do you think it will be live from tomorrow (Monday)?

I think more return to work most to carry on working from home where possible and maybe be allowed to visit family at 2 metre distance.

OP posts:
Bigfishylittlefishy · 10/05/2020 10:51

Don’t know - can’t wait to be able to go to a garden centre though in the morning, it will really improve my quality of life Hmm.

Rosehip10 · 10/05/2020 10:54

There will be no relaxation on "seeing family" at the moment - not that current restrictions are stopping people who are doing this at the moment!

BruceAndNosh · 10/05/2020 10:56

Is this in addition to usual 5pm briefing?
It was awkward enough yesterday with the "you'll have to wait until Sunday for that answer"

Puddlesplasher · 10/05/2020 10:58

I hope the going out for exercise once a day rule will be lifted immediately.

Beancounter9 · 10/05/2020 11:26

Have people really been following the once a day exercise rule though? I just don’t see that. The car activity down my street as almost as heavy as it was pre lockdown currently so people are going somewhere.

Most of what he announces will already be being done by many people.

People now want to be given an idea of the plans for schools, work and other matters like travel so that people can start to receive refunds from travel companies.

Mummiepig · 10/05/2020 11:26

Read in the telegraph online
Exercise more than once a day
Garden centres open from Wednesday
Masks advised but not compulsory on public transport and in shops
Slogan changed from “stay home” to “stay alert”

Roadmap for future changes to be revealed
Not overly exciting

Beerincomechampagnetastes · 10/05/2020 11:29

I’m desperate for some easing to take place, primarily to stop the horrible judgement and curtain twitching of some people who’re making the lockdown unbearable for the majority of people who’re trying their best.

Namechangervaver · 10/05/2020 11:32

I think it's going to be pre-recorded and just Boris addressing the nation like he did towards the beginning of the crisis. The only change he's going to announce is being allowed out for exercise more than once a day.

Whattodowhattodooo · 10/05/2020 11:33

@Bigfishylittlefishy

😂😂

There is going to be nothing. Only what's already been reported. Change in slogan. Pointless alert system. Garden centres. 2 periods of exercise. Maybe an update on track and trace on IOW.

Bollocks and bluster.

TartanTexan · 10/05/2020 11:38

How are other counties able to give a timeline e.g: ‘ open or allowed From May 11th’, ‘open and allowed from June 8th’ with a pathway outlined re: schools. E.g Switzerland.

Is it that our deaths still too high/R rate not low enough?

We need more clarity.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 10/05/2020 11:49

I'm expecting 10 minutes of waffle and sound bites. This will lead to endless arguments on MN over what he said/what he really meant/ what the law says/what the guidelines say/he's gone too far/he hasn't gone far enough. Plus the vocal moral minority telling us we can't do anything but if we find a loophole that says we can, under no circumstances must we enjoy it or the NHS will collapse.

Normal people will be drinking wine and laughing and pointing at the frothers.

Any relevant information will probably be released as a statement after the broadcast as they can't trust Johnson to say that many words in the right order. I also hope we'll get more information from the Chancellor in the next couple of days.

On a positive note, now that 'Protect the NHS' has been dropped, can the weekly clap be quietly disposed of?

GairlochHoliday · 10/05/2020 11:52

I’ve just been down the internet rabbit hole. Didn’t realise I could be a ‘lert’
(If you don’t know about this, don’t google it because it’ll only make you despair)

BakedCam · 10/05/2020 11:56

@BamboozledandBefuddled

Absolutely.

When all fails, open garden centres and stay alert.

Grin
Forgone90 · 10/05/2020 11:57

I don't think people want things lifted right now.. Nothing huge anyway but I would love it to be.. Carry on this week and if R stays low then next Monday you can see family then nthe Monday after that small shops and cafe and parks then more wide spread lifting after that..

SpookyNoise · 10/05/2020 11:59

Ah yes. Let’s open garden centers so elderly folk can congregate and look confused at the entrance to the closed cafes.

Appuskidu · 10/05/2020 11:59

I wouldn’t imagine it will be very different to the Irish exit plan from last week.

I think they’ll be lots of people pissed off that schools won’t be reopening in full, for all year groups (with free wraparound care) from June 1st.

BamboozledandBefuddled · 10/05/2020 12:00

Probably with compulsory singing of We'll Meet Abloodygain while queuing for the garden centre Hmm I'm going to be Aloof not Alert.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/05/2020 12:16

I'm currently Agog that headlines writers continue to make things up and further muddy the waters

Soon I'll be Aggrieved that so many continue to spout crap, misinformation and shite about all of this not being real.

Then I'll be Amused. Listening to journalists and posters swinging violently and immediately from "why won't they tell us the precise time and date we can all return to normal" to "bastards are trying to kill us, euthanise the ages. I'm not going out, it's fucking deadly out there"

Then I may choose to be Affronted if anyone disagrees with me

But mostly I'll be sat here, semi recumbent, trying to work out how I can safely follow what we road map we get given. Try to rebuild my business without increasing my RR, or that of those around me!

SouthWestmom · 10/05/2020 12:20

What's the new slogan? Cba to Google

BamboozledandBefuddled · 10/05/2020 12:38

@Noeuf Stay alert. Control the virus. Save lives.

Now I can't decide between being Aloof or Agog. Possibly Aglogoof would work Hmm

toolatetooearly · 10/05/2020 12:46

Why are garden centres being prioritised? I have a garden and I couldn't care less about visiting one. Let me know when record shops reopen!

imsooverthisdrama · 10/05/2020 12:47

Ah yes. Let’s open garden centers so elderly folk can congregate and look confused at the entrance to the closed cafes.
Grin lol
The one near me has opened in the last couple of days . I walked past yesterday the car park was full .
I heard about this stay alert not sure what it means , I'm sure it will be explained by BJ...

SouthWestmom · 10/05/2020 12:47

I'm more Apathetic

Garden centres - stock having to be chucked if not bough
But - old people's venue of choice.

Possible connection?

AJPTaylor · 10/05/2020 12:48

I shan't watch the twat. They have my mobile number seemingly so I shall just wait for instructions. More keen to get instructions from my employers to return to work and earn a living tbh. Will have a look at mumsnet to see what people are frothing about.

SouthWestmom · 10/05/2020 12:48

Alert to what? Other people being near me? That's not changed.
