I know there is an announcement on Sunday but I thought there had to be one today regarding lockdown? Watching the daily briefing but Boris isn't even doing it.

It was very clear, and reiterated in the questions the supposed journalists asked that we are still on lockdown certainly until Sunday when Boris will tell us plans for easing. It was also very clear these won’t be a lot and will be very gradual

People hear what they want to

Itisasecret · 07/05/2020 19:28

Well people don’t even know it is the bank holiday tomorrow, it shows us what we are dealing with in this country! People literally think they know what’s what and even when it is spelt out, still don’t get it. He needed to say it loud and sloooowly.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 19:29

that's the point isn't it? It's not going to "only" kill idiots but other vulnerable people too

Absolutely

Im not even sure idiots deserve to die

SpnBaby1967 · 07/05/2020 19:35

The message is still loud and clear, stay home! What are people struggling to understand, why are you saying Raab wasnt clear? He was crystal clear, the lockdown is still in force & any changes will be announced on monday.

First people were moaning that the government weren't giving clues as to what will happen, I believe the phrase was "treating the british public like children" but now they're suggesting that some lockdown measures may be eased on monday they're being told they shouldn't have announced anything lest the British public decide to release themselves from lockdown early at the even sniff of a mention of release.

They cannot win! Ffs, stay home until we know what the new rules are on Sunday evening.

R1R2 · 07/05/2020 19:45

Its SO confusing....is it fucking really. You havent been told of any changes to there are none whatever happens in the future isnt now. So get back in your fucking homes and stay there until told otherwise. Is that clear enough?

Mamamia456 · 07/05/2020 19:50

According to The Sun online the lockdown has been extended for another 3 weeks from today, and there will be only minor tweaks from Monday, as Boris has called for maximum caution still with regards to the virus. Hopefully this will be the headline in The Sun newspaper tomorrow.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 19:51

R1

Who are you talking to?

honeylou42 · 07/05/2020 19:52

I think they have done the right thing waiting until Sunday, people will just go mad if they relax things just before a bank holiday. Then we will be in an even worse state than we are now 🌞

R1R2 · 07/05/2020 19:53

Anyone still struggling to understand Rufus.

PuppyMonkey · 07/05/2020 19:54

yeah, he should have put it like that really R1. Much clearer Confused

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 19:56

So get back in your fucking homes and stay there until told otherwise

Well...back in your fucking homes unless you need to leave them obviously

R1R2 · 07/05/2020 20:01

Thanks Rufus i'd edit that in but apparently editing is a paid luxury in these parts.

Onlyherefortheconspiracies · 07/05/2020 20:04

We've had ours in Scotland. Agree or not, it's a CLEAR message. Stay in yer hoose!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 07/05/2020 20:05

R1R2

Bloody annoying isn’t it! 😀

MissHoskins · 07/05/2020 20:08

@Itisasecret
No I definitely don't feel a bit sil.
I feel very stupid for not realising that the Bank Holiday has been changed to tomorrow.
Apologies to you for my sarcastic post. I hope you have a good Bank Holiday tomorrow.
My only very small defence is that I'm not in the U.K. at the moment but still I'm sorry

BessMarvin · 07/05/2020 20:08

It's almost like they've done it on purpose so that they can say oh sorry you all went out over the weekend and ruined it and now we have to stay in lockdown for 3 more weeks, and it'd be the public's fault when actually it's what the government want anyway.

1forsorrow · 07/05/2020 20:11

Today - "why are you saying that next week we will likely see some easing if restrictions but are telling the public that they must stay at home still, isn't this confusing for them, how can they possibly stay at home?" They haven't come out and said this is the plan, they've said we will tell you the plan on Monday and then it is loads of speculation. It is like teasing people, we know something you don't know! He should be a grown up and not announce days in advance that he's going to make an announcement.

As usual they have done the opposite of what they said they'd do.

1forsorrow · 07/05/2020 20:14

So get back in your fucking homes and stay there until told otherwise. Is that clear enough? No thanks, I'm going for a walk.

1forsorrow · 07/05/2020 20:19

But all they needed to say was we have extended it to Monday. Clear and to the point. They didn’t say that until questioned. I don't think he was even that clear when he was questioned. He didn't seem very confident at all, very waffly.

bingbong1970 · 07/05/2020 20:25

It's the flu.

R1R2 · 07/05/2020 20:26

@1forsorrow

Is there no announcement today then?
Bathroom12345 · 07/05/2020 20:42

Bar of course Neil Ferguson and that stupid twit Catherine something or other! Those two really need to hang their heads in shame especially Ferguson who started all this lockdown with his ‘advice’ which he was never intending to follow!

OldLace · 07/05/2020 20:51

I think Nicola Sturgeon (who I am no fan of) was MUCH clearer.
She simply said: we need to stay in current lockdown for 3 more weeks because the R number is not low enough to allow un-lockdown. When it is, we can begin to reduce lockdown in stages. I'll tell you at that point.

The froth in the papers, started by Johnson saying he will make announcements on Sunday, meant that the press briefing needed to be painfully clear today and it wasn't.
Personally, I shall stay in lockdown until told otherwise as I do not want to be responsible for spreading the virus to the vulnerable.

Redolent · 07/05/2020 21:09

Expect a spike in infections in two weeks.

fourpeasinapod · 07/05/2020 21:10

This Country is a fucking joke. I want the lockdown to be eased but only if it is safe which it clearly isn’t
