I know this is pure speculation, but any predictions about changes from next Monday?

Well. The proof will be in the pudding as they say. Just wait and see what the proposal is . Apologies will be accepted in the form of a small donation to the nhs. I'm not getting into any argument over it . Believe it or don't believe it .

headachehair · 06/05/2020 21:11

I don't get why that document would say schools are back in August when they don't go back until September anyway - that bit makes it sound much more likely it's the Ireland plan as they do go back in August.

bluemarie87 · 06/05/2020 21:12

Ireland's lockdown exit plan is from the 18th and from May to August. Are people just presuming we will have the same one?!

headachehair · 06/05/2020 21:13

No - more that Paws is looking at Ireland's plan rather than the one for the U.K. that hasn't been released yet!

bathsh3ba · 06/05/2020 21:14

If my kids are off till September I might move to Ireland to get them back sooner! In a part of the country with hardly any cases, 6 months off school is ludicrous...

DahliaDay · 06/05/2020 21:15

maybe the English education system will change and schools go back in August in line with new changes?

The education and schools system does need an overhaul....heres the chance!

Peppafrig · 06/05/2020 21:18

@paws you haven't said anything that isn't already out there.

But staff and key worker children wouldn't be there in August - that doesn't make any sense.

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 21:23

It was sent to me because of what I do.
This is the English proposal. May well be same as Ireland's, don't know as only reason what was sent to me .

Peppafrig · 06/05/2020 21:25

Colleges and schools would be on summer holidays in August in England so makes no sense.

CovoidanceMechanism · 06/05/2020 21:27

just interested in pawsforawhile’s picture

Restricted travel will be allowed in August but not abroad.

I've seen the government plan. It's slow and steady and phased . From May until August. I think it's sensible.

From 18th . Not next week . Sure boris will tell all
It’s not from next week all.

It's from 18th May. I have this information. Ignore me though if you like !

ok incrediblysad

you will find out soon enough. there are 5 phases and these are to be announced soon.

bye!

its not june. schools are the last phase.

yes schools phased back. but from phase 5. the last phase of relaxation of lock down.
the phases cover from may until august - so august is school hols anyway.

key workers children are the exception as they are now.

announcements imminent anyway . I think the government is being very sensible.

hairdressers late june.

im sure.
but as someone pointed out I need to shut up now so I will be namechanging and wont be back on this thread.

Maybe our plan is the same as Ireland's?

I have an official copy of the proposal.

I'm not anyone's honey btw.

You can just wait for the official guidance.

You know you try and give people a bit of a heads up and get derision, called a liar - well . No skin off my nose . Yes I'm a total charlatan. That suits me .

Thanks Paws, hope all well with you and yours

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 21:28

Staff will need to go in and some children of key workers quite possibly.

Social distancing will remain .

headachehair · 06/05/2020 21:29

I'm not picking at you Paws, just genuinely curious....if staff and key worker children there in August, why not July as well....why not all the way through to September, nothing will have changed from now then....why specifically say August - there must be more to it....?!

ceeveebee · 06/05/2020 21:30

Irish plan. Identical to what paws saying

Why would England announce a return to schools from August when not even open then? And Boris has himself said that the first phase will be starting Monday 11th

Changes to lockdown from Monday?
pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 21:31

Nothing will change - I think schools will be open as
They were through the Easter holidays.

That is speculation from me tho - the rest isn't .

ceeveebee · 06/05/2020 21:31

Staff and key workers have been in schools for the entire lockdown already...

Strangerthanstrange · 06/05/2020 21:32

I am sure travel to self contained properties will be allowed very early on. Second home owners will have been pushing for this.

headachehair · 06/05/2020 21:32

I don't understand why it would say schools back in August then.....that doesn't make any sense. And also means teachers don't get the summer holiday which they aren't paid for...bet it doesn't mention that!

headachehair · 06/05/2020 21:33

@ceeveebee exactly, that's why it would be weird to suddenly say they would need to be in in August to have keyworker children when surely they'd be needed in for that the whole time.

lyralalala · 06/05/2020 21:35

If it mentions schools going back in August then it’s either the Irish plan that’s already out or the Scottish plan that’s part out.

English schools opening in August doesn’t make sense. If it’s for keyworker children then the current arrangements will need to be reinstated (if they are dropped to allow a return to school) in July when summer ends.

The teaching unions haven’t agreed to summer cover for childcare.

pawsforawhile · 06/05/2020 21:35

Ok. This is my last post . I'm hiding the thread from here.

The document sent to me is as I've said. I was trying to help. This forum is so weird these days .

Nhs - £1 if I'm proven correct. 👍 Of course things change but the proposal I have - legitimately - is as I've said .

I am absolutely not commenting further . It doesn't even effect me ! No kids at school and I've been working as normal the whole way through this lockdown. If my info helps great. If you don't believe it fine !

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/05/2020 21:36

School staff will need a break over summer. The autumn term is always a hard one but this year it will be so much harder. Surely it would make more sense to allow holiday clubs to run and let the schools stay closed for the whole of August? That solves the childcare issue but gives school staff the holiday.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 06/05/2020 21:37

BTW I'm not questioning you paws just questioning the thinking behind any plan that has schools returning in August.

DenimDrift · 06/05/2020 21:38

it makes perfect sense!!

school holidays will change. the old style 6 weeks will maybe be disregarded and school returns in august instead

why so fixed on 'september'....
