Oh Emerald Thanks The morphine will have kept her comfortable and floaty as she drifted off. I hope you find comfort in happy memories and knowing that she is at peace now.

I think lock down is becoming a bit of a joke-near me at least. Loads of mixed groups on walks, bike rides, party at the neighbours last night. Bloody ridiculous. But the lack of press or comment from the government about it makes me think it's exactly what they want.

pocketem · 24/04/2020 13:32

Yes, people seem to have given up on lockdown. Several cafes and bars have opened back up, claiming to offer takeaway service but people just congregate and have their drinks/meals outside. Lots of building work like extensions which seemed to have been put on pause is now back up and running. Lots of groups out for walks.

The fact that the government aren't pushing it suggests they are happy with the informal relaxation of the lockdown - they don't want to officially suggest it

EducatingArti · 24/04/2020 14:09

I suspect we are going to get more of a "nudge" on keeping the lockdown today at the briefing.
There are definitely more cars out on roads near me.

MarshaBradyo · 24/04/2020 14:13

It’s still really quiet near me. Cars, not sure, but just people not really seeing many out and about.

Following on from the Corona victims didn't have long to live anyway theme, can we use this theme to determine how we try murderers? It could free up a lot of room in jail's.

I'm thinking along the lines of if you kill a child, that's a really bad thing. We should throw away the key.

If someone kills a middle aged person, we do an assessment of the person's health, and sentence depending on how long they would live.

Victims over 60 should still have a short custodian sentence.

But for the victims over 80, I'm thinking suspended sentence with community service would be suitable, as they wouldn't have lived long anyway.

Thoughts?

SistemaAddict · 24/04/2020 14:34

Traffic is being monitored isn't it so it will be known that there are more vehicles on the road. Are they monitoring cctv too to keep an eye on how much foot traffic is about in parks and in general? I was considering easing the boredom by doing a little research from my bedroom window to see if there is a traffic increase where I live. It would t be a good representation in general but it would give me something to do for the next week.

Do we have figures for the whole of the UK today?

NoWordForFluffy · 24/04/2020 15:20

It's 761 across the UK, apparently.

SistemaAddict · 24/04/2020 15:24

@CrunchyCarrot are you still doing the chart/graph? Not that the figures are representative of much considering the issues with testing.

Spikeyball · 24/04/2020 15:26

If you look at the NHS site showing date of death the UK numbers are decreasing down from 700 - 800 at the peak to about 400 now.

Derbygerbil · 24/04/2020 15:28

If you look at the NHS site showing date of death the UK numbers are decreasing down from 700 - 800 at the peak to about 400 now.

But why would recent dates be complete? Surely they are likely to increase in coming days.

CrunchyCarrot · 24/04/2020 15:32

Emerald So sorry my dear. Flowers

Yes Bercows have just added today's UK total. Am very remiss in adding Italy's. The days are sort of going by in a haze and I'm never sure whether it's the weekend or what! Quite strange. Smile

Certainly are on my street, one house in particular has people coming/going every half hour or so through the day. Not a care in the world...
