What happens to the Londoners you refer to Lilac (I thought you were one btw, although I think you've said you don't care if you die off it?) if they catch Covid and die or are off sick for weeks and weeks mostly bedbound? And they can't get treatment because everybody else, including the healthcare workers (around 100 have already died) are sick or dying. Or they can't get to work because all their colleagues or clients or customers are off sick or dying. Or the transport workers. We've already had bus and cab drivers die. Imagine how many more would die without lockdown. What impact on the economy would that have.
Aside from the moral issues, a premature end to lockdown would be economic suicide. We're on course to be one of the countries with the highest death rates. That's with lockdown. A bad second wave would cause infinitely worse economic damage especially long-term than any short-term disruption from a longer initial lockdown.
I keep saying but it's so important. More haste, less speed.
