Why aren't people in their gardens or gazing out their window ?

What are they all doing?

I flit from being indoors to popping out to the garden to back indoors and nosing out the window. I can see many gardens from my house and no one is in theirs! Nor are they gazing out their windows.
Am I missing something? DH even said he was beginning to think we aren't allowed in our gardens as it's really odd round here.

(Yes I know I'm being nosey)

I Have been in the garden all day today pottering and planting and the kids have been in the paddling pool dipping there feet so that has kept 4 children entertained! And the dog!! Dh been in his workshop all day but still enjoying the garden! Grin

Mysocalledlifexx · 09/04/2020 17:56

Its too cold here but i am at my window with my baby alot.

Lincolnfield · 09/04/2020 18:02

Our neighbours are working in their, already immaculate, garden every day from around 9am until around 4pm. They grow fruit and vegetables and half their garden is for that and the other half is a beautiful cottage garden.

I get that they love their garden but what ffs do they find to be doing all day every day? Seriously they never stop. They are dragging wheelbarrows up and down, digging, planting - it makes me tired just to see them! They are lovely people btw and we get on well with them. I guess I’m just jealous 😂😂

Itwasntme1 · 09/04/2020 18:20

@lincolnfield they are so lucky that gardening is their hobby. I a, very jealous.

GreenFairy246 · 09/04/2020 18:21

I've been working, but also avoiding my noisy and nosey neighbours. They always seem to be there... watching....

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/04/2020 18:25

Next painted their side of the new fence today, my turn to do my side tomorrow.

Shona52 · 09/04/2020 18:34

It’s still too cold up here in Scotland lol

I'm working most of the day, also my neighbours are in their garden a lot and our gardens are small so I'm not likely to be 6ft from them if I go out at the same time

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/04/2020 18:38

I dont look out the window but my dogs often do lol.

Itwasntme1 · 09/04/2020 18:38

@vodkaredbullgirl be careful. I spent a fortune on a beautiful new fence, for a house I was developing. The neighbours decided to paint ‘their side’ of my fence. Bright bloody blue.

The fence stain dribbled down my side and can be clearly seen. Ruined a very expensive Fence, I had to rip it out and replace it will a cheap sire fence, they then had the audacity to complain that their hard work was wasted and they fence they loved was removed🤣🤣🤣🤣

allanaw929 · 09/04/2020 18:39

The real feel temp was 4/5 degrees today so too cold for the garden (Scotland). I don't spend much time in the garden usually, I normally spend most of the time out and about, but this year the garden may have to suffice.

PonderTweek · 09/04/2020 18:49

We don't have a garden and I'm always looking out the windows. Blush I don't watch my neighbours' every move but I like looking out and all I can see is other houses/flats, so I guess I'm looking at them. I don't really care what my neighbours are doing but I might go "ooh, number 31 is having their Tesco delivery". Grin

There's an awful lot of bees absolutely everywhere so I'm currently looking out trying to work out where they come from, if that counts...

BackforGood · 09/04/2020 18:58

Another here who is working.

When I do go on a walk though, I've seen LOADS of people out the front - gardening or washing the car or clearing out the garage.. However, I presume most people spending time outside (out of those lucky enough to have a garden) would be likely to be spending that time in their back gardens, where I wouldn't see them.

vodkaredbullgirl · 09/04/2020 18:59

Its ok their's is dark grey and mine will be dark green. Hopefully it wont be too bad when i do it.

Purpleartichoke · 09/04/2020 19:00

I’m working and homeschooling. When I get a break, I don’t feel compelled to be outdoors. Being at home isn’t a burden for me.

maddy68 · 09/04/2020 19:01

Inside stuck in front of a computer working from home

FelicisNox · 09/04/2020 19:25

I'm at work and my neighbours are peeping on me when I'm hoping: FYI it's downright creepy and intrusive.

FelicisNox · 09/04/2020 19:25

when I'm home

whattodo2019 · 09/04/2020 19:32

Because I'm working my bloody socks off!!! Due to a furloughed colleague, I am now doing my job and most of hers. While she is at home on full pay relaxing in her bloody hot tub and gardening. I am so pissed off. She was furloughed because she wasn't prepared to go the extra mile for the business and we all know she will pull thr 'I've got a difficult family life' card'. Just angry that those of us like me who also have a young family are working even harder and those who just say no CAN...

Cam2020 · 09/04/2020 19:45

I'm in my garden most of the time with my laptop and working!

chickenyhead · 09/04/2020 19:52

My neighbours are all in their gardens and it isn't very social distancy

Teddybear27 · 09/04/2020 20:48

I have been meaning to do it but hubby has been working from home flat out so haven't wanted to do that while he is working and video conf people although we both said this evening that the garden furniture is coming out tomorrow!.

Pawsandnoses · 09/04/2020 21:06

Inside, working 12-14 hour days feeling guilty that I'm ignoring DD yet again who should have been on holiday with her grandparents this week.

U2HasTheEdge · 09/04/2020 21:17

Working.

I would love nothing more than to sit in the sun. My job role right now means I'm spending a lot of time making confidential phone calls, so working outside is not possible.
