Why aren't people in their gardens or gazing out their window ?

What are they all doing?

I flit from being indoors to popping out to the garden to back indoors and nosing out the window. I can see many gardens from my house and no one is in theirs! Nor are they gazing out their windows.
Am I missing something? DH even said he was beginning to think we aren't allowed in our gardens as it's really odd round here.

(Yes I know I'm being nosey)

I dislike my neighbours and im puting acids on my face and lasering my body. Id rather be indoors in the shade and cool looking out onto the sunny sky than soaking in spf to sit on spikey grass and listen to neighbours noise pollution.

rjebgf · 08/04/2020 21:03

I'm homeschooling my kids indoors at the computer!

MaidenMotherCrone · 08/04/2020 21:06

We just use the windows for letting in light.

Wineiscooling · 08/04/2020 21:15

I'm working. My husband is working. My kids are on gadgets because I can't work from home and encourage/supervise outdoor play! If I leave them to it, it will end in tears, tantrums or someone getting hurt!
However , the advantage to home work is that at 5.10pm we were all outdoor, getting an hour of sun before evening chill sets in.
I can't begin to think how difficult this must be for those without outdoor space. And how can closing parks be the answer? For those in a flat, particularly in London, with kids, and working. I'm sure it's those with outside space calling for parks to be closed from their nice gardens.
Sorry, this turned into a rant!
My answer to OP is in there somewhere!

Greenpop21 · 08/04/2020 21:17

I have terrible hayfever but would love to be in my garden.

Mydogatemypurse · 08/04/2020 21:19

Inside working

MajesticWhine · 08/04/2020 21:19

DH and I are working. The kids are doing - I dunno - something. I will be in our (tiny) garden at the weekend.

Destroyer · 08/04/2020 21:21

They’re working

Or

They have bastard neighbours who play loud music all day or light fires.

SoooTiredToday · 08/04/2020 21:23

Because I'm.working in a shit job that I have been redeployed to do that I hate. When I get home I'm exhausted with the stress and have to manage the kids etc... Plus im ill with a cold or something (no temp or cough before I'm launched on). Some of us don't have the luxury of enjoying the feckin lockdown Angry

(Sorry for the completely disproportionate and aggressive post!! I've had a really terrible day!!)

Lovemusic33 · 08/04/2020 21:24

We have been using the garden a lot, put a tent outside for my dd to chill out in today (she has ASD and is scared going outside), I mentioned to my eldest dd how the neighbours rarely seem to use their garden, they are not working, have 2 young ish kids who rarely play outside. It’s been really warm here today so we have been outside almost all day, maybe popping in and out to eat.

Lovemusic33 · 08/04/2020 21:26

And it’s Easter holidays, why are people doing school work indoors? Sorry but my kids need a break for 2 weeks.

Notso · 08/04/2020 21:28

@Yesterdayforgotten good question. We were renovation neighbour but now we're probably loads of kids neighbour or before lockdown always walking neighbour.

ChristmasCarcass · 08/04/2020 21:28

No garden! If we had one, we’d be out in it. Instead DS3 has spent the day jumping on the sofa, and on me. We did go to the park this morning, but we can’t literally spend the entire day there (again I would love to, but it’s not allowed is it?)

Cherrysherbet · 08/04/2020 21:28

I’m working in a supermarket. I would love to be in my garden...far, far away from all the numptys wandering around without purpose 🙄

safariboot · 08/04/2020 21:29

The back's a jungle after two years of neglect. The only time I'm out there is when I'm getting rid of the weeds.

As for the front, there's people living near me who I'd rather weren't pestering me. It's also a bit difficult to stay 2 metres away from people when your front garden (and indeed house) is barely more than 4 metres wide!

And seems to me that all there is to see out the window is the same old houses and gardens there always are, or people who are probably breaking lockdown rules. A few houses down earlier there were a group of half a dozen people in a front garden and somehow I doubt they all live at the house in question.

SpyApp · 08/04/2020 21:30

Doing coursework and sewing scrubs for the local hospitals. I'd usually be in my garden all day though.

twinnywinny14 · 08/04/2020 21:32

My neighbours never use their garden, even to dry washing. Nor do they ever seem to open any windows or doors either.

kateybeth79 · 08/04/2020 21:34

I've been working on my laptop in the garden and getting a tan at the same time. Kids have been in and out of the house all day but OH has been on childcare duty so they've left me to it. All my neighbours have been in their gardens too, gorgeous weather today!

morecoffeerequired · 08/04/2020 21:38

I've been out in the garden this evening watching bats. I'm now gazing out of my bedroom window, awestruck by the moon.

Iamtryingtobenicehere · 08/04/2020 21:43

Up early, housework done well before 10am, spent most of today in my garden, that’s probably why I missed your call. I presume you checked the entire country before making such a sweeping statement?

Fire pit lit about 7pm and I did wave to my neighbours when they were all in their garden.

Raffathebear · 08/04/2020 21:43

Fucking bats.

ImfinallyaMummy · 08/04/2020 21:44

Ha well there's not much else to do other than nose out my window! 😬

Working full time from home and not feeling good today - suspect its corona.

mochojoes · 08/04/2020 21:51

Loads of houses near me are empty, my neighbour has definitely left, means I can blare my music on the x trainer!

eurochick · 08/04/2020 21:51

We've been inside working all day every day.
