Why aren't people in their gardens or gazing out their window ?

What are they all doing?

I flit from being indoors to popping out to the garden to back indoors and nosing out the window. I can see many gardens from my house and no one is in theirs! Nor are they gazing out their windows.
Am I missing something? DH even said he was beginning to think we aren't allowed in our gardens as it's really odd round here.

(Yes I know I'm being nosey)

Mine are visiting their friends and families so inside having a nice cuppa. This lockdown doesn't apply to them.

BooseysMom · 09/04/2020 21:26

The teenagers in our street are going out in their cars and meeting up with others and driving around. I've a mind to report them Angry

angelfacecuti75 · 09/04/2020 22:04

Because I live in a flat lol and don't have a garden lol..

Crumpetsforthequeen · 09/04/2020 22:35

We want in our front garden to play today as DH had put down grass seeds in the back garden and a nasty neighboor, who we've had no end of trouble with since she moved in, yelled at us for being outside.

We're detached about 100 meters from our NDN each side so no where near anyone else, really upset my DC who now feel like they're not allowed outside, maybe that's why people aren't going out as well because they're afraid of being told off by Doris down the road 😒

Perhaps they’re not sitting in their gardens because there is a lack of privacy & they don’t like being gawped at by other neighbours?!? Just a thought....

bumblingbovine49 · 09/04/2020 23:04

I am working. I have to sit at my desk and work. I go in the garden at.lumch time and on my days off.

PorridgeShotgun · 10/04/2020 12:09

I'd love to be out in my garden but it's not especially child friendly for a 29 month old - we prioritised sorting the house first not the outside space. Plus I'm trying to WFH, even though my shitebag neighbour is making it impossible with his constant (I mean constant) DIY.

Every day since the lockdown it's been sawing, drilling, power sanding, last night he was scraping the adjoining wall until 8pm. Thanks Dickhead don't mind us trying to relax or get the toddler to bed.

Honestly, I could cry I just feel so trapped and uncomfortable in my own home because of him. Plus my husband is on constant nights so he's hardly getting any sleep. They're just the most horrible inconsiderate people.

PorridgeShotgun · 10/04/2020 12:10

Typo the wee yin is 19 months not 29 months!

Gin96 · 10/04/2020 12:48

Lovely in my garden, no traffic noise and I don’t really have neighbours 😊

Why aren't people in their gardens or gazing out their window ?
BooseysMom · 11/04/2020 06:56

PorridgeShotgun... There's always one isn't there?! I swear they wait for me to go out before starting their DIY. Laat time it was a bloody stone grinder ffs! It's like i'd gone out, sat down and bosh, that second it started!!

Gin96...your garden looks beautiful. Anywhere with thar kind of shade (provided by trees) is my idea of heaven Smile

Yesterdayforgotten · 11/04/2020 07:26

Gin96 I'm so sorry that sounds horrendous. People can be so inconsiderate can't they FlowersBrewCake

Yesterdayforgotten · 11/04/2020 07:27

Oh sorry that was for @PorridgeShotgun dont know why it tagged gin!

Aragog · 11/04/2020 07:48

During the week day I'm indoors working from home though Dh and I try to fit a half hour or so walk in just after lunch. By the time we finish around 6ish we may sit outside for a short while weather dependent. I don't like sitting out when it's chilly though.

This weekend it's warm so we've been outside in the garden a fair bit and been for a slightly longer walk.

Whilst it's been warmer this weekend/week we've heard a fair amount of children out playing in their gardens but most of the adults round here are either working from home or are key workers.

PorridgeShotgun · 11/04/2020 19:39

Thanks Boosey and Yesterday. Flowers and Cake to everyone who is having to suffer lockdown and its stresses with inconsiderate people making it more difficult.

I tip my hat to all of the keywords and those WFH with school aged kids too, I don't know how you guys do it.

PorridgeShotgun · 11/04/2020 19:40

Key workers honestly autocorrect is out to scunner me at every turn.

ellyeth · 12/04/2020 16:29

If people are working then of course it's difficult for them to use the garden. Surely not everybody is working from home - there must be some people who have been temporarily laid off?

I'm not working so when the weather is good I spend as much time as possible in the garden. Make the best of it while it's here is my motto.
