Why aren't people in their gardens or gazing out their window ?

What are they all doing?

I flit from being indoors to popping out to the garden to back indoors and nosing out the window. I can see many gardens from my house and no one is in theirs! Nor are they gazing out their windows.
Am I missing something? DH even said he was beginning to think we aren't allowed in our gardens as it's really odd round here.

(Yes I know I'm being nosey)

Loads of my neighbours out in their gardens today, me included. It was so warm I got a tan.

ragged · 08/04/2020 19:38

DH & I are both working longer hours than ever.

MarinaMarinara · 08/04/2020 19:38

Like many PP I’m in my study working. But out in the garden at lunchtime or if I stop for coffee/to spend a bit of time with the kids. And DH and the kids are in the garden for several hours each day.

Casino218 · 08/04/2020 19:39

Why would I want to gaze out of my window!?! I've got better things to be doing!

Inthemuckheap · 08/04/2020 19:39

Maybe they're keyworkers and actually out at work? I am so have absolutely no idea what my neighbours are doing!

Ronnie27 · 08/04/2020 19:40

Working from home and simultaneously trying to educate the kids. Wish I was in the garden. Enjoy! GrinWine

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 08/04/2020 19:41

I’m inside working or eating. My neighbours are either squealing on their trampolines, having their daily BBQ or hiding from the squealing trampoliners.

IvinghoeBeacon · 08/04/2020 19:41

They’ve all been reading mumsnet threads where they are told that going out in the garden is not essential, it’s selfish and risking people’s lives

MintyMabel · 08/04/2020 19:42

Very few out in their gardens here. Even the ones I know aren’t working never seem to be out there. I’m not sure if we would be if we weren’t working. There isn’t a anything to do out there!

Marieo · 08/04/2020 19:42

The garden isn't childproof so it's stressful haha. We do go out every hour for an hour then head back in and repeat to break the day up. If I was by myself though I would be in the garden constantly, it's nought special but feeling very lucky to have it.

Fivefourthree · 08/04/2020 19:45

I love looking out of my windows at the garden and watching birds, cats, cloud formations etc. But I retreat if I see humans as it feels intrusive to watch them. Equally I don't really like sitting around in my garden as it is overlooked. I'm OK working out there though.
Also I've been working outside my home today, as it's not a wfh role.
I'd love to go for a walk around now. It's such a gorgeous evening.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 08/04/2020 19:45

My garden is far to big for me to see what other people are up to, when I’m in it so I just sit on the balcony and watch the birds in the trees.

Not really, but it’s a nice fantasy. Tbh I can’t be arsed gong out to the garden at this stage.

Whenwillthisbeover · 08/04/2020 19:48

At the time you posted cooking dinner, earlier in the day working. Now? Sat inside on my iPad.

Does that answer your question?

Iwantacookie · 08/04/2020 19:50

I've had a day lazing on the sofa due to very little sleep last night

myidentitymycrisis · 08/04/2020 19:50

I go out on the days I'm not working indoors and my neighbours are out most days.

thecatneuterer · 08/04/2020 19:51

I've been ill in bed for the last two weeks or so (probably Covid). However I have sat in the garden for a few hours. Anyway we've only really had a couple of nice days.

GameSetMatch · 08/04/2020 19:53

I’ve been in my garden lots, so much so I’ve ordered a skip to give me something to do over the Easter weekend, lots of cutting back to do! My neighbours on one side haven’t been out but the elderly couple have been burning garden waste day and night!

RingtheBells · 08/04/2020 19:54

I was in my garden, this morning I put Patio magic on the patio and path and this afternoon I sat in the sun and admired my moss free pathGrin,

DH was out there this evening watering the pots

Devlesko · 08/04/2020 19:59

We are in our garden every opportunity, and chatting to our elderly neighbours over the fence.
Just watered the plants, and inside now, too many midgies.

Clickbait12 · 08/04/2020 20:00

Working and staring out the window

Bubblebu · 08/04/2020 20:01

OP post is one of the reasons why I would stay indoors. Who wants to be monitored by their neighbours all day long?

TheWordmeister · 08/04/2020 20:01

We just had a glass of wine down the bottom of the garden and could see neighbours on both sides doing the same.

WhiteChocTwix · 08/04/2020 20:04

DH and I had an early evening drink in the garden about 6 once he'd finished working. I'm planning to spend most of tomorrow out there reading and enjoying the sun (nothing else for it as fell through the cracks with the various employment schemes, although I was temping in March, just not on 28/2.... 🤨). Hope everyone has as nice an Easter as possible under the circumstances.

vanillandhoney · 08/04/2020 20:05

Inside hiding from their neighbours peering at them?

oncemorewithfeeling99 · 08/04/2020 20:07

I’m working from my garden, have set up some makeshift sun shade so I can see the laptop screen. Glorious day! I agree OP. Get yourselves outside people.
