Lots out cyclists out, but can anyone honestly say every one of them look like they're exercising! Perhaps more evidence for for full lockdown?

Only that there were literally ZERO people in my (very touristy) high street today (as seen on local journalist's shots and webcams).

I do believe you now (and can see that the camera angle was probably deliberate set to make people look closer together) but I am horrified that people were sitting down - you're allowed to exercise - not sit down outside!!!

Trajectoryoflife · 04/04/2020 23:38

@Danglingmod same with Cornwall. touristy yet very quiet. inc beaches, main roads & towns / cities

PickAChew · 04/04/2020 23:59

We need the lockdown we have to be enforced or a stricter one is going to make no difference, while, meanwhile, those of us in quieter areas where social distancing isn't too difficult will be penalised.

LuluJakey1 · 05/04/2020 00:37

It is as if they don't get the difference between :

Going out once a day to exercise- by yourself or with someone from your household, walking, running, cycling and always maintaining social distancing

and

Going to sit on the grass in the sun and having a few drinks
Going to read a book sitting on a park bench
Going to exercise in an organised group in a park
Going to lie in the sun in a park
Going to meet up with friends and sit and have a chat by the river
Going to the beach for a BBQ

It is as if they think all the things at the bottom fit into the top description of exercise.

TimeToGetMeBack · 05/04/2020 00:47

London has been full of idiots today. I don't care about them (as they clearly don't care!) but the police and nhs staff that will need to deal with them! Stay at fucking home

Insideout99 · 05/04/2020 00:51

Go on twitter. Sunbathing is trending with plenty of images to back this up, along with many people defending it. I can not believe our nation is so thick

SarahTancredi · 05/04/2020 01:02

Theres no proof that it was today.

Police these days seem.to do zero research into what they post or endorse so frankly that means nothing to me.

Most of the people walking when the camera angle dared actually show it.. showed people keeping a distance on the path.

So desperate was the camera person so Make it look l like everyone was close together that they even made themselves look like they were right up close too.

So if anyones being fined start with the idiot with a camera

Maybe it's True maybe it isn't but that clip is clearly meant to be deceiving

HeIenaDove · 05/04/2020 01:14

Well on my social housing estate today no one was out. The only sound i heard was when the 23 year old son of my opposite neighbour came home from his job as a police officer and slammed his door.

RainbowMum11 · 05/04/2020 01:17

We are all going to suffer because of these selfish idiots

HeIenaDove · 05/04/2020 01:24

Good point Sarah. There are absolutely no coffee shops open here so surely its the same there.

suk44 · 05/04/2020 01:26

There are absolutely no coffee shops open here so surely its the same there.

You do know there are other places to buy takeaway coffee other than coffee shops don't you?

Yes, especially deceiving how it clearly show some of them sunbathing during a pandemic!

OP posts:
SarahTancredi · 05/04/2020 01:30

Yes as far as I know.coffee shops are closed

If a shop is open and been given permission to be open then peppw who purchase from.it are doing nothing wrong surely?

We know fuck.all about these people. Who they are, what they are doing there etc

Yet here we are again with people being labelled murderers etc

Would people feel differently if that man with his top off was a dr or a nurse having just come off shift and daring to see some sunlight and have a coffee?

Maybe they just dropped some shopping off at their nan's...

Even the police are getting over zealous and have been told to rein it in..

But let's not let that get in the way of calling people names and blaming then for stuff when we have no idea what or how if we are truthful....

suk44 · 05/04/2020 01:33

Would people feel differently if that man with his top off was a dr or a nurse having just come off shift and daring to see some sunlight

A doctor, nurse or indeed anyone on the front line right now wouldn't be that stupid.

OP posts:
SarahTancredi · 05/04/2020 01:36

Well he camera man was and the media who purchased the footage from.someone else who didn't need ti he there was. As were the police encouraging whoever shot said footage by posting it...

suk44 · 05/04/2020 01:45

As were the police encouraging whoever shot said footage by posting it...

You've now gone from:

  • The footage isn't true
  • Police possibly posting incorrect info
  • Photographer intentially making a clearly sunbathing person look bad
  • Police encouraging said photographer to film

Any other theories you want to add? Wink How about all the people featured are paid actors employed by the government??! (actually this one is so crazy I think some people would actually believe it!!) Shock

OP posts:
SarahTancredi · 05/04/2020 01:51

The footage doesn't even have to be true Confused

If people are able to see they can get their five mins of fame or have their "work" posted by the police then they will go out there and do it. The same way idiots used to hurt themselves for 250 quid from jeremy beadle.

Not only is that footage an invasion of peoples privacy its been posted at a time where if anyone is recognised they will potentially face a lynch mob from people who have no idea what they were even doing there.

The people walking looked to he sticking the distancing rules . Walking is exercising which is permitted providing u stick to the 2m.rule.

suk44 · 05/04/2020 01:54

Not only is that footage an invasion of peoples privacy

If they really didn't want to be at risk of being filmed in a public place (which is legal) then it's probably best to...i'm sure you get the gist

OP posts:
suk44 · 05/04/2020 01:56

Maybe they just dropped some shopping off at their nan's...

That could be true yes, straight after having a sit down, a bite to eat, listening to the busker then a spot of sunbathing Grin

OP posts:
SarahTancredi · 05/04/2020 01:56

What stay home forever cos some dickhead might decide to follow you or film you then use the footage for their own personal gain?

suk44 · 05/04/2020 01:58

Nope just follow the law (which doesn't state you have to stay at home at all times) which is there to protect us all.

I noticed the coffee cups too.

Binterested · 05/04/2020 02:08

I’m sure it was today. As I said Regents Park looked similar today. But people were making an effort to stay apart from each other. There were people sitting on the grass in ones and twos but that’s ok. People also need to stay sane.

Social contact has been decimated. I see literally one percent of the people I normally see in a week just by wfh and not commuting and not popping into two or three shops on my way home and not socialising and not seeing family every weekend.

I am not going out every day but when I do go out - as today for a walk in a major London park which serves millions of Londoners - there will be other people there. We were all keeping our distance. Some were sitting on the grass. Maybe they needed a breather. Maybe they were feeling desperate or suicidal stuck inside in a flat cheek by jowl with noisy neighbours 24/7.

I really can’t get too worked up about it. Yes groups should be broken up. But I didn’t see any groups. Just couples or individuals or parents with children. And sitting on the grass ? Well shame on them.

Beware the sunbathing police.

Walking outside - Fine
Running outside - Fine
Sitting outside - Evil virus spreading bastards!

I mean come on.

suk44 · 05/04/2020 02:14

Thing is Binterested is that everything you mentioned is probably what gave rise to the record crowds in Snowdonia national park the other week, car parks full etc.
