Lots out cyclists out, but can anyone honestly say every one of them look like they're exercising! Perhaps more evidence for for full lockdown?

I live near a country park and woods that have been closed to the public yet today they had to have police there as people were trying to climb over the walls to gain access and verbally abusing the park rangers
Disgraceful behaviour from selfish people

London is not the only place in the U.K.!!

That’s absolutely true (above). That said, I do live in London - SE - and went out once today for a walk in the park. Far fewer people out than usual and everyone making an effort to keep to the 2m rule. Just saying.

Wheresthebeach · 04/04/2020 20:51

Police arrived in a local park here to disperse picnickers. High, on the spot fines, are the only way to stop this.

Drunks in the road last night at midnight, today saw 2 young men in their twenties walking down the road with cases of beer and talking loudly about their plans for the night.

There is just a percentage of people who think it won’t happen to them. I wouldn’t mind if they were the ones suffering the consequences of their actions but they aren’t. I wonder if we will end up with all parks closed, and a curfew. Seriously makes me want to scream.

Trews2019 · 04/04/2020 20:53

Are people really so thick, self-centred and lacking in awareness that they’ll stay at home if they get a £30 fine but not out of fear of catching/spreading the virus?

Mohster · 04/04/2020 20:56

I mostly advocate being in as it is the safest thing to do at present until some way of combatting effectively Covid 19 is found. But exercise is important for good health and also for mental well being. I think in such circumstances as long as you take adequate steps to reducerisks others this should not be frowned at. As long as there is an adequate distance between you and the next person of 10 metres ideally then the fact you outside reduce risk. The virus will be carried away by the air and sunlight normally kills viruses and hopefully, this will be the position in this case. You and others should wear face masks and then the risk of transmission is reduced. It is internal spaces such as gyms, that should be avoided. This is going to be our long term life for the time being and on that basis, I think it is important for people to get out but to reduce the risk to them and others. If we all do this then some normality may be able to come back to life. The secret is to take this seriously and be aware of the risks that you pose to others and what risk they pose to you. Natural herd immunity may be hard to achieve realistically but with care artificial herd immunity can be achieved as long as the govt educaes us properly as to the risks and we become responsible to keep others and ourselves safe. On the same point, eventually, somebody has admitted that the virus is airborne in aerosolisation and that you can catch it just by being close enough to a person when they are talking to you. This was cited by Dr. Fauci Trumps chief medical officer who is present in the daily briefings. Now maybe people will start to understand what we are actually up against.

croprotationinthe13thcentury · 04/04/2020 21:00

I’ve been out all day and will be tomorrow, it’s gonna be lush. We are quite remote so it’s not really am issue.

TheLastSaola · 04/04/2020 21:01

I believe it's footage from today.

But the overwhelming majority of people in the footage are observing social distancing. Just small family units out for a walk or cycle. If you take a low angle shot you can get a lot of people that look close together when they are actually spread far apart.

On the first warm sunny Saturday of the year, Richmond would usually be absolutely heaving with people in large groups, sitting and standing close together.

No people shouldn't be sunbathing or sitting too long on a bench. But there's really no reason to think that anything there is having any meaningful influence on infection rates.

thenightsky · 04/04/2020 21:01

Centre of Scunthorpe yesterday. So not just London.

Notthemessiah · 04/04/2020 21:06

There were loads of people out walking, sitting on the grass etc. yet hardly any cyclists and yet that is what you led your post with. Not sensitive, just observant - maybe your bias is subconscious but it's fairly clear.

I sort of know there will be riots and looting soon. You can feel it in the air.

..... at some point everyone will have lost a loved one

Says who? Both the above comments are unfounded

Rosehip10 · 04/04/2020 21:11

Lambeth council are closing brockwell park tomorrow - 3000 in there today, loads of large groups sunbathing/meeting up.

There is just a percentage of people who think it won’t happen to them. I wouldn’t mind if they were the ones suffering the consequences of their actions but they aren’t.

Again, how do we know that, where’s the proof?

youngestisapsycho · 04/04/2020 21:16

That is Richmond, don’t know if footage was from today, but I live just up the river from there and our local riverside green was mobbed... much the same as that video. The police were out with their tannoys shouting for people to keep moving and not sit around.... there should have been a lot more police out and about today!

LuluJakey1 · 04/04/2020 21:17

I walk every day, sometimes with DH and the DC, sometimes alone. Today I went alone for a 90 minute walk through the village, along the seafront to the next village and back. I saw quite a few people - probably 100+- about half of those were walking on the beach and apart from 9 all were social distancing and just out walking. The ones that weren't were:
2 teenage girls sitting on some steps down to the lower prom eating chips and drinking pop
3 people- looked like neighbours outside their open front doors having a chat on the pavement
4 early 20s young men kicking a ball around on the grass and then having a lie down with some pizzas and some cans as I walked back. The police were talking to them as I walked back and getting some lip but moved them on and split them up.
No one else was sitting around or not walking. People were being really careful to maintain distance.The Italian ice cream and coffee place was shut. There were many more masks and gloves and people physically moving away to create distance as they passed others.

But there were many more cars than in recent days.That was very noticeable.

suk44 · 04/04/2020 21:41

It does seem strange there didn't appear to be a constant police presence in someone they surely must have thought would be busy.

@Fiddlersgreen

Yes, I know it is technically London.

LittleLittleLittle · 04/04/2020 21:49

@youngestisapsycho it will be warmer tomorrow so expect more police out.

cologne4711 · 04/04/2020 21:54

Please note that no one actually wants a stricter lock down

Oh but they do, and that's why they take video footage on a normal day and pretend it was today.

RingPiece · 04/04/2020 22:00

I actually think it was filmed today but the way it was shot seems to make everyone look closer together. A friend lives just off the high street and said there were a fair few people heading in the direction of the river or milling around today despite shops being shut. A little surprised that there only seemed to be three people wearing masks in the clip, but then I rarely see anyone wearing them round here anyway. Police presence needed tomorrow.

Shitsgettingcrazy · 04/04/2020 22:01

Please note that no one actually wants a stricter lock down

On another thread a poster has said she wants the army on the streets, armed and forcing people to stat in their homes.

Some people are consistently talking about how they want its stricter.

Usually accompanied by lots of frothing about people local to them. Not eve about going out. What dog they dare to have, how they look etc.

brighterdays2 · 04/04/2020 22:13

To people asking about the takeaway food, I live near Richmond and can tell you that a lot of cafes are open but takeaway only.

@Wakeupsunshine
Fake like the Bournemouth picture.

@PertEllaTitsahoy
Newsflare... where anyone can create an account and upload videos that are then sometimes bought by the media...

@gingajewel
I’m not convinced this is today

@MummyNeedsWineNow
Not today!

@Danglingmod
I don't believe it's from today

Well Surrey Police have just tweeted this very video.. so I guess you think they must also be putting out fake info? All part of the conspiracy clearly(!!)

..and Surrey Police in their tweet say they have verified what it shows and that it was recorded today, and 'have inside information about it'.

So yeah we can definitely conclude it wasn't recorded today.. Wink

Look I have no idea if it's true it not.

The police picking it up, doesnt make it true either. Police on social media fuck up all the time. Like the police account telling people they could only buy essential items at the supermarket.....which is wrong.

Assuming Surrey police cover this area. Because if they do, why the fuck are they tweeting that?

That tweet is really the road cops saying "our force didnt do its job today'

Or if it's not Surrey police they are saying 'the force in that area didnt do their job right'
