I don't believe it is as low as they have said.

I think ours will be a horrific number as still people are going out and it is always an essential journey or they can't see any risk.

Well, the news coming out of the UK hospitals indicates that more people are dying than are being recorded in the UK as well. Problems with recording etc.
An article referenced on the long running threads yesterday said that some of the deaths in yesterday's figures were from anything up to 10 days ago.

But yes, I don't think anyone doubts that China had more deaths than were announced.

But I am sure that lots of mumsnetters know better than the experts at WHO.

To be honest all death figures have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Not just China. Care homes worldwide are experiencing multiple deaths and the Covid-19 tests aren't happening, for example in Glasgow. If someone dies and isn't tested, they're not recorded in the statistics.

Then there's the argument of whether you count everyone who had Covid-19 when they died, or only those the doctor or coroner believes were killed by the virus.

The UK is lying about its death rate. Deaths in care homes are not being recorded as part of official figures.

The WHO said later on January 23 that the outbreak did not yet constitute a public emergency of international concern and there was "no evidence" of the virus spreading between humans outside of China.

@Youngatheart00 Except WHO made public statements that after much checking they thought China's figures were accurate.

OP everyone will pile on this thread to say China's figures are totally wrong and WHO the actual experts are also wrong. That is because if you accept that WHO is right, then you also have to accept the UK government have totally ballsed this up.
