Damn - it's the weekend and it's warm. AIBU to think this will lead to further restrictions

Because some people will be fed up of their house and will go to the park

Or the beach
Or congregate in large groups
Or take their car on long journeys to places of beauty

I think this weekend is going to see guidance severely broken because of the weather - and this will lead to a crackdown

Bring on April showers

For example locally as a minority White London borough if you see people of different colours you might think - ah law breakers but in fact they might be step siblings living together

You might...

LaneBoy · 04/04/2020 11:19

I guess one thing that helps with our park not being too busy is that it’s not right by a huge amount of housing, now I think about it. On one side there’s a pub, obviously shut, and a lot of the border is also taken up with a secondary school, and a busy road round other parts. I expect other parks in town that are right in the middle of very dense residential areas are busier

ElinoristhenewEnid · 04/04/2020 11:21

Has anyone noticed the irony that since lockdown on 23rd March it has stopped raining?

listsandbudgets · 04/04/2020 11:23

Where is this sunshine of which you all speak. Here it is cool and overcast

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 04/04/2020 11:27

The only people taking dc to beaches etc, will be the parents that would quite like the dc to die. What other reason would one have for being thick enough to take them to the beach?

We’ve had 2 nurses die from this in the last couple of days to add to everyone else that is dead.

Don’t want your child to die, then keep them the fuck at home

People will do it though, I agree op

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 11:29

Tougher restrictions incoming in 3,2,1

Selfish ignorant imbeciles will screw this up for the rest of us, of that we can be absolutely certain. This weekend could lead to another spike in the next few weeks.

STAY HOME YOU FUCKERS!

Unihorn · 04/04/2020 11:33

Wow the scaremongers really have come out in full force now.

chomalungma · 04/04/2020 11:35

The Daily Mail is on it

Photographing and shaming - but I do think they have to draw that line between people following the rules and people taking the piss.

Flat dweller here, no garden and a 1 year old. Must admit I had a little cry this morning at the thought of having to stay in on such a nice weekend, I'm a fairly positive person, but this is tough!! What I would give for a patch of grass right now..... Of course people are going to take the piss and not give a crap about the rules and these people probably have access to outside space already. Off for another cry...

CornishGirl56 · 04/04/2020 11:43

Quite frankly anybody stupid enough who decides to go out and congregate needs to be kept there for 2 weeks regardless and released only when they are symptomless. It’s the only way that they will learn.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 04/04/2020 11:44

Lots of photos of people congregating, increased death rate (unrelated to the weekend) and then they have a reason for the (required) stronger restrictions

Absolutely

Stricter restrictions are coming anyway, even if 99% of us stay in there will still be photos of the 1%

Pelleas · 04/04/2020 11:45

It isn't warm where I am! My husband has just insisted we have the heating on!

TheFutureMrsHardy · 04/04/2020 11:45

DH and I just went for a dog walk in a remote rural part of Gloucestershire.

People are still driving here to walk their dogs. In spite of farmers putting notes on stiles/gates not to walk through their land, people are. And the village cricket field had a gang of kids on playing games, with their parents.

We have a business that stands to go under the longer we are unable to work.

What the fuck is wrong with people??!

Jeranium · 04/04/2020 11:46

@Lairymary Thanks

longearedbat · 04/04/2020 11:48

Thank you, head prefect @BlueEyedPersephone for spelling out the law for us.
I have a feeling there will be a lot of mumsnetters who will be scouring the news over the weekend looking for photos of people transgressing the law. When they find a few pics of caravans or more than 2 people in a group (even though they are probably the same family) they will be dribbling at the mouth, eyes wide with indignation, pointing with a shaking finger at the offenders and shouting 'look at them, they are KILLING PEOPLE!' Of course they will be clutching their pearls hard at the same time. The sad thing is, they will enjoy every minute of their self righteous indignation.
Right, I've had enough of this madness, I'm off for a very long walk (which will probably be more than an hour).

Gypsyrosa · 04/04/2020 11:52

We're farmers so are lucky in that we could go for a walk this weekend from our doorstep but have already this morning since dozens more people walking past the house than we normally would prior to the restrictions. So we won't be going anywhere away from the yard.

DH is being driven mad by having to tell folk off when they're nowhere near the public footpath. "Oh but we're doing no harm", oh okay then, let's just have the world and his wife thinking the same. Bloody dickheads.

VenusTiger · 04/04/2020 11:55

It's certainly not warm here - Middle England that's for sure!

BlueEyedPersephone · 04/04/2020 11:57

@longearedbat not head prefect, a key worker who has seen first hand what happens when an older person gets this horrible virus. If us staying in means less people die then it is worth it.

SaltySeaBird · 04/04/2020 11:59

My husband is torn about going to the beach with the children this weekend as he says it’s not allowed. However the beach is a 10 minute walk from our house, it’s a local open space and we won’t be taking the car, we won’t stop and sit on the beach.

He has confused me as to whether it’s acceptable!

ParkheadParadise · 04/04/2020 12:00

Heating on here, its bloody freezing.
Dd is in the back garden with her hat and gloves on🤣

FudgeBrownie2019 · 04/04/2020 12:01

Warm enough to be outside here - the DC are both still in pyjamas, DH and I have spent the morning gardening and making it look lovely.

Our neighbours are all doing the same and gardening - I've not seen anyone move anywhere other than essential dog walks and two neighbours are nurses so come and go with shifts. We're Warwickshire and people here seem very observant of the rules regardless of age.

BlueEyedPersephone · 04/04/2020 12:02

Of course you can walk 10min from your house wether that means beach, field or road. What they don't want is people driving to a half hour away and then choosing a nice place to walk. By getting in the car the risk of breakdown or rtc increase which increase diversion of resource.

SaltySeaBird · 04/04/2020 12:02

@P1nkHeartLovesCake

The only people taking dc to beaches etc, will be the parents that would quite like the dc to die. What other reason would one have for being thick enough to take them to the beach?

Exactly this sort of judgement which is making my DH say we shouldn’t go to the fairly quiet (normally this time of year even on a sunny day) beach that is a five minute walk from our house. We are neither thick, not wanting our children to die.

We just happen to live on the coast.

KimchiLaLa · 04/04/2020 12:04

wanted to take DS somewhere local. Nothing against it where I live as driving to walk is essential as all the exercise we can do safely is in public areas. The police here are allowing households to exercise and have picnics etc provided social distancing is observed

WHAT? The govt has absolutely not said picnics are allowed? What news are you reading, Care Bears and rainbows monthly?!

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 04/04/2020 12:07

Same salty

We have left the house in days, dd hasnt left the house Since the friday after the lockdown

But if we do go out for a walk and we walk to the beach its cos i want to kill her

Ive only just finished nursing her back to health following an illness that was suspiciously like covid 19 (obvs no surety one way or the other)
