Yes @marshabrado that's true

peridito · 06/04/2020 19:56

hope it's ok to quote a tweet ? but I agree with this comment re changing how they are counting the nos of tests

The figures are useless then. It is the number of people tested that is needed not multiple tests on one person

amz12 · 06/04/2020 20:14

Bojo in intensive care now

MarshaBradyo · 06/04/2020 20:15

So tense hearing that

Eeyoresstickhouse · 06/04/2020 20:17

Sad news about BoJo. I may not agree with most of what he does but I do not in anyway wish him such ill health.

WhoWants2Know · 06/04/2020 20:18

Well, shit.

refraction · 06/04/2020 20:20

I wish they would be honest. It's unbelievable.

Poor Boris

Very surprised to see this. Poor NEWPORT the highest number of cases per 100,000 in the whole U.K. 😱

mrshoho · 06/04/2020 20:26

Hope he pulls through. People need to rest to fight this virus.

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2020 20:34

Christ almighty.

The figures for his age group admitted to ICU are not pretty.

justchecking1 · 06/04/2020 20:34

Poor Boris. If he's in ITU then that chart that RTB posted suggests he's got a slightly better than 50:50 chance of pulling through (although they probably pull out more stops if you're the PM)

JellyFishSquish · 06/04/2020 20:35

It is a 50 50 chance

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2020 20:36

justchecking, whats his BMI? And factor in the fact he's male and its possibly less than 50:50.

TheStarryNight · 06/04/2020 20:39

And he had pneumonia as a child. That can’t be a positive.

WhoWants2Know · 06/04/2020 20:44

Does ICU necessarily mean a ventilator? And don't those cause problems even for survivors?

BREAKING

Boris Johnson is in intensive care

Boris Johnson was moved into intensive care at 7pm this evening after his condition worsened over the course of this afternoon

The PM asked Dominic Raab to deputise for him before he moved

He remains conscious but has been removed to intensive care in case he needs a ventilator

Boris Johnson experienced breathing difficulties this afternoon and was given oxygen

When it became clear that he needed to move to intensive care he told an aide that Dominic Raab should deputise for him

He is still conscious

CrunchyCarrot · 06/04/2020 20:46

No ICU can be other things. He could be using an oxygen mask. Or he could have kidney issues and be poorly and on antibiotics. Could be anything really.

RedToothBrush · 06/04/2020 20:47

Beth Rigby@BethRigby
Senior govt source tells me ‘the PM is the PM’ but he has asked Dominic Raab to deputise for him & For Sec takes on any responsibilities he might need, including day-to-day running of #coronavirus response. Also takes over security decisions as necessary

BeyondMymymymyCorona · 06/04/2020 20:54

There are still people in my area of Newport who think it's all overblown, claiming they don't know anyone at all who is ill.

JellyFishSquish · 06/04/2020 20:55

From another thread: Wasn't he the one who thought herd immunity was the way to go, and we could sacrifice anyone not strong enough to survive?

I guess it is easy to say I told you so, after the fact. At least he did listen to Ferguson, and change tack. Possibly late, but just as no-one expects the Spanish Inquisition, no-one expects exponential growth...

WhyNotMe40 · 06/04/2020 21:00

Ah bollocks. Hope he pulls through.
And hopefully with renewed respect for this virus and for the NHS and indeed for all the non UK born workers which Brexit is making unwelcome....
Poor man. Horrible virus.

WhyNotMe40 · 06/04/2020 21:01

He was also the one that said we had to take it on the chin. I suspect he didn't mean his chin....

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 06/04/2020 21:03

I know this probably makes me a bad person, but... I simply cant feel that sorry for Boris.

If anyone was going to suffer from CV19 complications you are probably best placed if you are a senior politician or member of the RF.

So I'm sure he will get gold standard care throughout .

When I read what people like MurrayTheMonk post - that seems more like reality to me.

DarnedSocks · 06/04/2020 21:08

@JellyFishSquish Apparently he felt queasy about the idea of herd immunity. And he put himself at risk when other world leaders would put themselves at a safe distance. If he believed in us all taking the risk, he practiced what he preached. He was up against it really. He inherited a underfunded poorly managed NHS. As for stricter proactive action to stop the spread? Even now we're getting thread after thread complaining about "over the top" measures. The action needed to contain Covid-19 needed to be taken long before most people would accept it needed to be taken.

I hope he pulls through.

Number12 · 06/04/2020 21:09

Jesus @yoloPenguinsEatfish have you read anything about what covid 19 is like to have?? Drowning whilst awake and above water, not being able to breathe. Can you imagine the sheer panic? Have you got the first idea how terrifying that must be? He is a human being, in a difficult position. I hope he does get the best care regardless of anything because that what we all deserve.
