Delay in today's numbers

TheReelSlimShady · 25/03/2020 20:00

Unless I'm being really stupid, it doesn't look like the numbers have been updated for today, it still says 24th March

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-the-public

Not seen any reasons as to why they are delayed?

It would be great if this could be over sooner than we predicted.
I thought the plan was to push the peak out until May/June so that pressure on the NHS is less and we have more time to get resources?

Unless it’s just predicted to peak quicker than we thought and there’s nothing we can do about that. Do we actually want to peak in two weeks, are we ready for it? But it would be lovely to have some sense of normality by summer.

I have to admit the competitive ‘this won’t be
over for years’ was pissing me off on another thread. Of course we can’t stay in lockdown for years and also there will come a point where much of the population will have immunity so measures can be relaxed.

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 11:55

Yes, they think we are ready for it, and nhs capacity won’t be breached, it seems the scientists running this show are amending their predictions, which has to be expected.

Yesterday’s numbers are not relevant, we are not at the peak. As such they are expected to keep climbing upwards for the next couple of weeks.

Delatron · 26/03/2020 11:57

Ok, well that is some positive news. I guess this is an ever changing situation but a downward trend after Easter would be good. Especially if we can cope with the peak.

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 26/03/2020 12:05

Going by threads on here lately, it like some people will be disappointed if it doesnt get as bad as the worst predictions.

Or if it turns out that the government steps taken over a few weeks have actually helped reduce worst case.

I do think some people want this to be as bad as it can be so the can blame the tories as a point scoring exercise.

UYScuti · 26/03/2020 12:06

Thank goodness our government is working with the experts, thank goodness we don't have someone like Trump pretending there isn't a problem and contradicting the experts 🙈

UYScuti · 26/03/2020 12:10

Some people will be disappointed
Les tricoteuses are out in force

Not true at all...... "advised" not "had to"

Nope. My kids flew back from Italy on 9th march. They were staying with their dad for a few days after by the afternoon of the 10th the advice was anyone coming in from Italy (amongst other countries) from the 9th march should must self isolate, symptoms or no symptoms

It was advice, no enforcement, no following, no checking.... easily ignored and probably was by many....... only the people flown in from that cruiseship were isolated and i believe some others were put in a conf centre.

We have been exceptionally lax over this in the early days.

fucknotmeplease · 26/03/2020 12:56

Have close inside source that works inside the NHS. Said that the situation is much worse than the government is actually letting on and they are quickly running out of body bags in our trust.

Wannabangbang · 26/03/2020 13:02

fucknot so scary and goes to show they are keeping figures from us.

Missing the point.

The original statement was that there was nothing in place 2 weeks ago. There was.

Of course people ignore it. People have been ignoring what we have in place now. That doesnt mean theres nothing in place. By those standards, we still havent got anything in place.

And I have said several time, I havent said it was good steps we had in place or that it was perfect.

But there were things in place 2 weeks ago.

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 26/03/2020 13:05

Course you do Hmm

Want to name them or even give them a job title?

defthand · 26/03/2020 13:05

It is not disappointment but fear that we are being treated like children, the truth kept from us. That is not the appropriate response to an epidemic, as comparative experience from the Spanish flu shows.

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 26/03/2020 13:06

@Wannabangbang please dont be believing some random on the internet who has a mate that told them something awful.

Dongdingdong · 26/03/2020 13:07

so scary and goes to show they are keeping figures from us.

It's one poster on an anonymous forum with one contact in the NHS. It doesn't "go to show" anything!

Bluntness100 · 26/03/2020 13:07

Funny how so many people have “sources” suddenly,...and these sources confirm conspiracy theories,,,😂

Delatron · 26/03/2020 13:08

It’s hugely offensive to suggest people want a high death rate and quite ignorant. Of course they don’t. It’s normal to question the figures if they look like an anomaly and to discuss why this might be.

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 26/03/2020 13:14

I think its hugely offensive to sit and question 'Why isnt the 21 year old included?' If you actually give a shit, about her, you would know she didnt die in that time period. Offensive and ignorant to use it to prove they arent being honest. That's somebodies family or friend.

Its hugely offensive to sit and claim that people are dying, they there are bereaved families out there, whose whole existence is being removed. It has to be, if they are mis reporting or numbers are higher than they say.

Parts of this thread have been sinister and people are definitely hoping for the worst to prove a political point.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 26/03/2020 13:15

The change in the way they collect data wont be because of nefarious reasons. It will be because they have just found an easier or more accurate way to do it.
The data collection, like everything else in this situation will evolve as more information and data is made available.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 26/03/2020 13:16

Sorry meant to say will "likely" be because of...

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 26/03/2020 13:17

Funny how so many people have “sources” suddenly,...and these sources confirm conspiracy theories,,

Also funny how many of these 'sources' cant keep their mouths shut.

If they are aware the body count is far higher and theres a nhs/government conspiracy, surely they would have signed the secrets act?

They wouldnt be allowed to go run their mouth off to their mate, who cant hold their own water either.

Bearbehind · 26/03/2020 13:18

Absolutely this

I can’t believe people are talking the word of their Aunt’s friend’s hairdressers daughter who just so happens to be at the epicentre of the NHS and knows this is all a cover up 🤔

Stop second guessing everything and stick to the facts

peridito · 26/03/2020 13:23

you might be correct Livin but as someone else said ,they need to explain their methodology ..

Delatron · 26/03/2020 13:24

Just because people are wondering why there is an anomaly in the trend doesn’t mean they are desperate for a high death rate. It is ignorant and offensive to suggest that people on this thread wish people dead. Of course they don’t and it’s very wrong to suggest so.

Itsnotthatcomplicated · 26/03/2020 13:30

People arent just wondering if there is an anomaly. People are spreading false information.

Source in the NHS says they are running out of body bags

My mate the ICU nurse says xyz, that turns out not to be true. Apparantly the ICU nurse misunderstood.

Loads of people claiming the fact that the 21 year old wasnt in the figures, is proof the figures are fake. Forget that she is a really person, with a family, who didnt die in the time period reporting. Non of that matters because people can use her to prove theres a cover up.

People are lying and twisting shit because it fits their narrative of goevernement cover up.

That's offensive and its ignorant.

Some people on this thread are very much uninterested in the human fall out.

The fact that you think that might apply to you (I dont know your motives) even though I didnt name you suggests, that you doubt you own motives.

Delatron · 26/03/2020 13:34

I don’t think any of that applies to me, since I haven’t said any of those things 🙄. You sound slightly deranged. Maybe time to step away from these threads for a while?
