Hi all. I'm having a bad day Sad

I have some symptoms which could indicate the onset of the virus (diarreah, chills, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, chest pressure, feeling wiped out from doing as little as picking something up off the floor) and I'm feeling a bit vulnerable. I'm currently being isolated in the bedroom away from my young DC but if I do have it then they've inevitably been exposed and both have a cough.

Chances are it is CV as we live in a hot bed.

I'm mid 20's but my immune system isn't great and I'm frequently poorly with something or other. I had some health problems last year which I recovered from but my immune system is taking a while to catch up.

Regretfully I was a smoker and that became a crux when I was going through some pretty crap stuff. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried about that. Please no doom mongering about smokers, I know it was a terrible habit Sad

I would really appreciate if any of you who believe they've had it would spare a minute to reassure me that they've come through it or know somebody who has.

Are any of you charming ladies over 50?

Hope you're feeling better soon! ☕️

TheLadyAnneNeville · 24/03/2020 20:46

I’m 58. I always thought myself fairly fit but do have fibromyalgia and psoriasis.

I have tried to get back to running, impossible.

Popfan · 24/03/2020 20:49

I'm 45

DH was in hospital for several days at Christmas time with a bad fracture ,The junior doctor treating him at A&E was from China , and said that he had recently returned from a visit there.
When DH got discharged he was not very mobile , so he went to stay with my elderly dad for a few days, as his house is an adapted bungalow
Shortly after coming home to our house , DH had a fever , night sweats and was sleeping 20 hours a day for three days- - I thought he must have caught a bug at hospital and that his resistance was low from having an operation .
About a week later my Dad said he felt he could hardly breathe , had a really sore chest, and felt his lungs were swamped, He went to his Doctor who gave him antibiotics and sent him for a chest x-ray - . My dad feels better now , but still not 100%
This was before the UK had Covid 19 , but I now have my doubts

Few days on from my last post and three weeks from when I started with a sore throat thought I would give an update on how I am currently feeling.

Throat has improved in the last few days and my chest and breathing all feel fine, although strangely breathing in through my nose feels different to usual and is really something I can’t explain - feels like the nose is clearer and the breath purer, although I realise that sounds absolutely crazy, there is no other way to describe it. The mucus from back of nose down throat is easing up and this means I am coughing less which I am pleased about but now it seems to have shifted to the front of my nose and my nostrils are dry which made breathing difficult when I slept last night.

On Monday I developed a thick coating on my tongue and a funny sour/metallic taste in my mouth I can still taste food and smell everything though. I also have what feels like a sore roof of mouth and today the tongue feels sore too with a slight burning feeling. Yesterday I also developed a cold sore.

The main problem I have had last few days is churning stomach and heartburn, I am not sure if this is due to anxiety or illness but i have had a loose stomach for about a week and lost my appetite for a few days so it’s probably all connected.

What has struck me is how my symptoms have all come in phases/shifts. Started in throat and chest, moved down to stomach, then back up to throat/nose/mouth.

I have exactly the same!

churning stomach and heartburn, I am not sure if this is due to anxiety or illness

Again, exactly the same as me. I also have loose stools and a tight feeling all up the top of my back. Some mild coughing but not excessive.

DH has had no choice but to go out today for food supplies, the kids are almost out of nappies and we can't get a delivery slot anywhere. I've had to come out of bed and sit on the sofa and watch the children which isn't ideal as I feel really weak (they are 1yr and 2yr)

2yr old is sitting calmly on the couch with his tablet but 1yr old is all over the place.

I feel completely drained of energy I could cry.

Ah @Roostermum2 chin up. You must be very nearly past the worst of it now.

After a grim night I ran the GP this morning and much to my surprise they wanted to see me (albeit w face masks, special protocols etc). Anyway they reckon maybe coronavirus but probably not (I am coughing a bit today). Checked chest for a bacterial infection but it's clear, told me to keep an eye on breathing and temperature and contact them or 111 if things get worse.

Tell you what though, if this isnt corvid 19 then I certainly dont want to catch it. Haven't felt this ill in many years.

Popfan · 25/03/2020 12:55

Hi all, so I woke up this morning to find my temperature has gone right down and I feel fine! Just tired but haven't been sleeping well. It's all very odd - hoping I stay this way

SooPDoZang · 25/03/2020 13:04

I am convinced I had it in January

I was absolutely exausted, my children ended up having the week off school and nursery because i could barely walk up the stairs. I have never known a tiredness like it. As i started to feel better kids went back to school and nursery but even walking Them my chest got really bad, I ended up booking an emergancy doc appointment as i couldnt breathe properly & the doctor gave me a prescription for a blue and brown inhaler!

Im 28 and never needed inhalers in my life before then! Nor have I needed to use them since I had it.

I was ill for about 3 weeks all in all and it took another 2 weeks to recover from it

Roostersmum2 · 25/03/2020 13:18

I'm on day 7 if I count from when my stomach upset began

Porcupine that's really good news that the doctor as a you. It must have been a relief in itself to be checked over. Fingers crossed you feel much better quickly! I think when we're over this were going to hope it was coronavirus, so it's over and done with, as odd as that sounds

Popfan that's fab news, really glad to hear you're feeling good today - long may it continue for you. I cannot bloody wait to be able to do normal things like cleaning, laundry, cooking etc. Are you doing anything today now you're feeling well?

I've ordered a laptop charger on Amazon prime and I'm going to get Disney plus once it arrives Smile

SooP I fully believe people have had this before it hit the news, I've seen so many people describe what everybody is describing and saying they've never had anything like it.

The English teacher in Wuhan developed covid in November, imagine the amount of people travelling between China and the UK in the month of November alone. It was definitely here earlier. No doubt about it.

Have you all heard about Prince Charles?

He's 71 (I think?) and has tested positive but is in good health and still up and about in isolation, that's very reassuring isn't it. I'm not a royalist by any stretch but I do hope he makes a quick recovery

Hi @Roostersmum2 thank you, yes been up tidying , doing my own school work and helping my DS with his online learning stuff - he's Y7 and driven me slightly insane today!! He was motivated on Monday and rather reluctant today! The system they have at his (state ) school is amazing - virtual lessons through Microsoft Teams, all resourced and great interaction from the teachers - they are fantastic.
Great you have the charger on its way - Disney plus been a massive hit in our house!

Glad you got checked over Porcupine - sounds positive although obviously not that you felt poorly enough to contact the doctors.

I hadn't heard about Prince Charles, poor man. Hope he recovers soon.

InconvenientPeg · 25/03/2020 14:22

No idea what day I'm on as I think i had another big early on, then caught covid on top.

5 days since the loss of smell started.

I'm 48 and usually in reasonable health but heavy periods for the last year have really taken their toll and I basically catch anything I come into contact with at that time of the month. Usually no-one else in the house catches it from me, so it's clearly me being more susceptible.

Still tired , burning lungs seem to have eased and cough is still only really when I catch my breath while talking or moving. My appetite has started to come back a bit.

I haven't had a temperature at all, even if I go back to what I think was a different bug and include that.

Has anyone signed up to this app? It's trying to track spread and symptoms so for people who are ill and those who aren't.

InconvenientPeg · 25/03/2020 14:22

Sorry forgot the link!

middleager · 25/03/2020 14:32

I've signed up to the app. I'm well but want to assist with data in any way I can

CorianderLord · 25/03/2020 14:51

I believe I have, I had a short 2 day high temperatures and blocked sinuses.

That was at the weekend and I'm fine now... only thing is my sense of smell has gone completely. Apparently this is becoming a sign that young people have had CV and barely or not been symptomatic. A good three of my friends who have been unwell recently have also lost all sense of smell.

It's annoying but at least I'm wel

CorianderLord · 25/03/2020 14:53

Am also an ex smoker

Roostersmum2 · 25/03/2020 15:07

I've got the app and I've shared it on my social media. It's a really good idea.

DH is back with the shopping and he's managed to get everything we need to cover us for the week. He got fresh meat, fruit, veg etc. He said there are security guards with dogs outside Aldi letting in a limited number of shoppers at a time. There are also tape markers on the floor at the tills to stop people standing too close and there are plastic screens between the customer and the cashier at the tills. All the employees have masks and gloves. It all sounds very organised.

Here's an interesting article if anybody is interested. First hand accounts of people who have confirmed positive and how vastly their symptoms differ, pretty much all quite mild and some virtually indistinguishable from a garden variety cold.

Evening, so after a day of feeling pretty ok, I feel a bit crappier this evening. Felt chills again and feel like I have a temperature again but the thermometer doesn't agree! If anything it's very low grade - 37. something. Very odd. I also just feel a bit 'icky' ... really hoping I have a good night and feel better again tomorrow!!

Booboostwo · 26/03/2020 04:23

My sense of smell and taste are gone too and have been for a week. I also have a very mild sense of nausea. A lot of it is like HG felt during pregnancy but without a very strong urge to vomit.

Littlepond · 26/03/2020 04:47

Interesting thread and I have a lot of the symptoms too. The metallic taste, loss of smell and taste (this is making me panic that it will never return! Has anyone got theirs back after losing it?!) chills and burning up. On Tuesday evening I was so cold my fingertips went numb and I couldn’t stop shaking.
I’ve got a slight cough but nothing major and my chest feels mostly ok. My body aches. I’m on day 3 of symptoms.

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 04:54

I think I have it.
I'm on day two.
Started with a tickly cough which I put down to acid reflux but since then I have no appetite, feel weak and dizzy, horrible nausea and have a burning sensation in my back.
I'm so anxious about it though as one of my children is in the high risk category and I've had full contact with them prior to the symptoms.

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 05:36

Oh, and I also got a weird taste in my mouth 3 days ago, before any symptoms started.

Porcupineinwaiting · 26/03/2020 08:03

Day 6 (or 8) here.

Last night I felt properly better - my feet and hands which have been ice cold since this started were suddenly warm again and (bizarre as I thought it was an early symptom) I started coughing.

This morning I woke to mild chills and nausea again, so guess I'm not there yet. Hope this is part of a proper upward trend though, not just another temporary plateau.

It does seem to be the nature of this virus to go down fighting though. Bastard thing.

@Roostersmum2 how are you doing?

ofwarren · 26/03/2020 08:06

Why do they day to only isolate for 7 days when reading this thread, so many people are ill for much longer?
