Does anyone think that the whole of the UK will be put on lockdown?

Not immediately - and possibly not at all.

But I strongly suspect it will happen in London within the next week.

PattyandSelma · 21/03/2020 13:24

I hope so.
But I’m not sure, the way the government has been handling it so far I’m doubtful.
We need saving from ourselves though.

Lightofthephoenix · 21/03/2020 13:24

London is empty, people are listening.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 21/03/2020 13:25

Yes.

blackpinkinyourarea · 21/03/2020 13:28

Yes, and quickly i hope. Too many people parading about thinking that social isolation rules dont apply to them Angry

blackpinkinyourarea · 21/03/2020 13:29

Social distancing **before i get jumped on!!

SittingAround1 · 21/03/2020 13:29

Yes within the next few days

Ilikewinter · 21/03/2020 13:31

@Lightofthephoenix, I think major cities are empty, or certainly a lot quieter but thats because people are all out in their local villages or towns. We need a proper lockdown

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 21/03/2020 13:31

We are bound to, seeing as its happened in loads of other countries and now parts of america too.

kittykat7210 · 21/03/2020 13:31

I think we have about a week, maybe 2 for the whole of the U.K.

DitheringDoris · 21/03/2020 13:32

I really hope so and I hope it’s next week.

Wannabangbang · 21/03/2020 13:34

I hope so, people are ignoring advice. Its clear to see all over facebook etc, people playing football, getting together in clothes shops for discounts. They need to be forced to stop for the greater good of everybody, if this is isn't controlled the nhs won't cope if it all comes in floods now.

glitterelf · 21/03/2020 13:36

Yes I think it will be today. The news special has been brought forward to 2pm today.

Flaxmeadow · 21/03/2020 13:37

Hopefully

On a personal level. My adult children keep making unreasonable requests of me and I'm sick and tired of their tantrums when I say no.

For example to see my grandchildren for extended periods of time in their homes. Use public transport to do this. Help them decorate. Make tea, the list goes on.

If I suggest anything about preferring to see my family in a outdoor open space for half an hour or if I try to talk to them about govenment guidelines, all I get back is abusive language and that I'm wrong about the advice.

They are acting as if nothing is happening and i'm becoming increasingly drained by their utter selfishness. Not just within the family but the wider community as well

I've been trying to warn everyone i know about this for weeks, months even. Have they listened? No and they're still not listening now

Sorry rant over

ruby2019missyou · 21/03/2020 13:38

I really hope so and I hope it’s next week

@DitheringDoris I can’t help feeling that the sooner it’s done the quicker we will get through it.

OP posts:
Inkpaperstars · 21/03/2020 13:38

Yes, I think very soon, if I had to guess I would say announced Monday with immediate effect. Maybe Tuesday but I hope not as every hour they delay is further deaths. It will be nationwide I think as they won't want people moving to non locked down areas, and also because future cases are being created everywhere. Too many people are ignoring instructions so to reach the percentage of compliance that their modelling indicates they need they will lock down. I think it will be too late to prevent a terrible surge above nhs capacity, but still it must be done asap to prevent even worse.

FredaFrogspawn · 21/03/2020 13:40

Flaxmeadow that’s appalling. Please stand up to their bullying. They don’t deserve you.

DitheringDoris · 21/03/2020 13:40

@Flaxmeadow that’s awful, I’m shocked. You are going to have to say a firm NO to demands and if you get abuse don’t engage with them at all.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 21/03/2020 13:42

People most definitely aren't listening where I live.

Snorkelface · 21/03/2020 13:42

News special isn't Boris today - Environment, Food and Rural Affairs instead. Guessing it's going to be to do with panic buying and supplies.

YgritteSnow · 21/03/2020 13:42

It won't be today. Boris is not giving the update today. It won't be announced by anyone but him.

22Giraffes · 21/03/2020 13:43

@Lightofthephoenix not in my part of London Sad the park is full of groups enjoying the sunshine and the farmers market is open as usual, with no distancing restrictions in place.

DressingGownofDoom · 21/03/2020 13:43

Yes I think probably towards the end of the week. Probably announce it on Thursday to start from Friday 5pm.

Flaxmeadow · 21/03/2020 13:44

Thanks Freda and Doris

And I know I'm not the only Grandparent going through this right now.

It seems also to be a case of shoot the messenger.

I'm also sick of all the bickering.

Yes will be standing my ground more often now . Thanks for the support

Derbygerbil · 21/03/2020 13:45

I think we have about a week, maybe 2 for the whole of the U.K.

If we leave it that we might be in trouble!
