How many people do you know who've got it?

I know of three friends of friends who've got the virus. If everyone else is the same then it suggests it's spreading quite rapidly!

I don't know anyone. Are all of those cases confirmed? How are people getting tested?

utterlybutterly8 · 20/03/2020 12:42

All I know is that they're "confirmed cases". Sorry, I should have said - one of these is abroad and two are in the UK.

I know loads of people self isolating but no one who’s actually got it.

ShellsAndSunrises · 20/03/2020 12:45

None.

Ciwirocks · 20/03/2020 12:45

We wouldn’t know because they are not really testing. Half of my family are self isolating with symptoms but won’t get confirmed.

larrygrylls · 20/03/2020 12:45

3, I suspect. Scary

Lordfrontpaw · 20/03/2020 12:46

A teacher of DS.

Juancornetto · 20/03/2020 12:48

My friend's gran has died from it.
We're self isolating with coughs, keep veering between we definitely don't have it to maybe we have it really mildly

Pteuropa · 20/03/2020 13:01

I know lots of people who have suspect symptoms but nothing confirmed.

barnet · 20/03/2020 13:04

Six- 4 of those at work who had been abroad, one colleague’s wife who was skiing in Austria, another’s wife who is a nurse. (We are in Norway)

barnet · 20/03/2020 13:09

These 6 were tested and confirmed, but now only special cases are being tested, and you go into isolation if suspected. We are all pretty much quarantining in Norway, school is online and all home working. Only mixing with one selected friend outside the family, etc

pomegranatepie · 20/03/2020 13:10

One confirmed, now recovering well, two sus

pomegranatepie · 20/03/2020 13:11

Oops. 2 suspected with links to a confirmed case, and I'm pretty sure I have it. Mild so far luckily.

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/03/2020 13:11

I know 1, a friend of one of my children.

Although they haven’t seen them for a few months because of work commitments

We would be interested to see if we have already had it as all the symptoms we had over the Christmas/New Year period. (Dp self isolated in a room whilst the rest of us were coughing our lungs up.
Dcs seemed to bounce back after a week or so but it took me quite a while and I am only now not getting out of breath walking a hundred yards

UYScuti · 20/03/2020 13:13

If you have got it don't be this woman (check out the guy in the shorts though ♥️)

userxx · 20/03/2020 13:14

@Oliversmumsarmy I had the same. I was away on holiday at the time and it felt like someone was sat on my chest, I had to stand on the balcony to get some air in my lungs. Took me about 4 weeks to get over it.

Mycoronausername · 20/03/2020 13:20

One confirmed (FIL in hospital but seems to be doing okayish) and a couple of friends of friends who are isolating at home with what sounds very much like corona.

AWryGiraffe · 20/03/2020 13:23

One confirmed, in a very bad way in hospital.

sassbott · 20/03/2020 13:23

Zero. If anything I know more people who had absolutely vile bouts of the ‘flu’ in jan/ Dec, (which given their symptoms), would now have them self isolating. Increasing signs pointing towards this being here pre christmas. All recovered absolutely fine but reports of the breathlessness staying weeks after the ‘flu’ had passed are 100% in all their stories.

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/03/2020 13:31

I woke up one night gasping for breath. For some time it was like breathing through treacle. I ached all over and it felt like someone had taken a sledgehammer to my back and rib cage.
Took me about 4 weeks to get over but then even walking short distances without getting out of breath and exhausted is only in the last week subsiding and I am able to walk further and do more with out gasping for breath or feeling like I was going to collapse with exhaustion

JessesGirl · 20/03/2020 13:31

1 confirmed and another suspected linked to the confirmed

Oliversmumsarmy · 20/03/2020 13:33

Should add i have no underlying health issues and I have had flu before and never had a problem with breathing, even when I have had a chest infection and my breathing was wheezy

LefttoherownDevizes · 20/03/2020 13:34

DH and DD have been 'diagnosed' via NHS111. No testing as managing at home.

Moomin8 · 20/03/2020 13:34

I don't know anyone but my friend living in London knows a nurse who has had it.

Reginabambina · 20/03/2020 13:38

I don’t know anyone who has been confirmed. I caught something off someone who’d been overseas tat was suspiciously similar to the described symptoms a while ago but equally it could have been a coincidence.
