Who is doing what?

I wish I could work from home, but I can't, and am worried about commuting.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 15/03/2020 11:30

I'm a sahm but dh is working from home. One of his colleagues has been in contact with a confirmed case and 3 of us have coughs/temperatures so we are all staying in.

Yester · 15/03/2020 11:30

Ive been really ill and SI so cancelled all my work next week (self employed).DH been told to go in ( medic). One DC ill but other 2 not. Advice is to send them in but feels crazy to do.

imarocketman50 · 15/03/2020 11:30

I work in an office for a private company and it would be no issue working from home but they've not allowed us to yet.

Hubby is an electrician who works in the tourism industry and cannot work from home so worried about what they will do if forced to close. They may close to the public but staff may still go to work not sure.

Feeling very glad we have always saved for a rainy day as it might be about to rain.

BadEyeBri · 15/03/2020 11:31

Off to work where I will see 25-30 clients in a small room, each for 15mins a time. I just hope that they all wash their hands and don't bloody cough on me.

houseofhungryboys · 15/03/2020 11:31

Cannot work from home so off to work it is - DH at home tho and DS2 going to school (A levels) DS1 at Uni, still there at the moment 😬😷

inselfisolationnow · 15/03/2020 11:31

I'm isolating, DH will most likely wfh. DS will go to nursery as usual.

Jigsawpuzzle · 15/03/2020 11:32

Retired here but just want to say big RESPECT to those who work in NHS, Emergency and retail and good luck to everyone.
Both me and DH in our 60s, and lucky to have a good selection of village shops.
DS still at home but works shifts and has own car may have to get shopping.

JorisBonson · 15/03/2020 11:32

I'm WFH tomorrow but not for CV reasons, because I have a task to do that's easier to do from home with less distractions.

I'll continue to commute and go to work and keep on top of handwashing etc until told otherwise.

FenellaVelour · 15/03/2020 11:33

I’ve no choice, I’ve half a dozen court hearings.

peeledplumtomatoes · 15/03/2020 11:34

I'm going to work as usual. I usually walk there and get the bus back.

DH has been wfh since last week. DCs going to school as usual.

Seems pointless if half the household go out as normal and others stay in. The person at home is still effectively 'going out'.

eandz13 · 15/03/2020 11:36

Isolating with two toddlers as ds3 has started with a cough and slightly raised temp (still his chirpy self, though). It's his birthday tomorrow too so I'm going to have to get imaginative with something to do indoors with just me, him and dd4 instead of the day out I had planned.

oldfatandtired1 · 15/03/2020 11:38

We’ve been split into 2 teams at work - half go in next week while the other half work at home - reversed the week after that. I’m not keen on working from home simply because I’m not set up for it - I don’t have a proper desk and chair and work crouched over the laptop on the coffee table. But if working like this in the short to medium term slows down the virus so be it.

Fiddlersgreen · 15/03/2020 11:38

I’ll be at work, I work in retail so not able to work from home.
DH work told them all to work from home for at least 2/3 weeks.
Kids will be at school.

No symptoms here thankfully but myself and the kids will be taking public transport everyday

Pootle40 · 15/03/2020 11:39

Both been told to wfh (do regularly anyway)

chocolateisavegetable · 15/03/2020 11:39

DH has been told to WFH. At the moment I am due in work tomorrow as normal and don't have a laptop to WFH. However, I will not be going on the planned training course even if it is going ahead.

PuppyMonkey · 15/03/2020 11:40

I’m not sure what to do.

I work afternoons only in a small office, with three other people. The office remains open, so I’m assuming I will go in. No guidelines yet about the possibility of home working. It’s a place where members of the public often come in to use the service.

Have 2 teens in school, so I think they will still go in. But I have my doubts.

To add to my confusion... Have a DP with a cold - sneezing only, no cough, no temperature - he’s staying in separate bedroom and we’re monitoring him.

I’m just a bit... Confused

peachgreen · 15/03/2020 11:40

My office closed on Friday to all but essential staff who need to physically be there. And it's getting deep cleaned over the weekend to protect those staff. So I'll be working from home. Off out today to buy a desk as I don't have one. DH is in the office but I suspect this will be his last week there.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 15/03/2020 11:40

Me and DH are both working from home.
DS and DD are off school.
It's gonna be hellish

Chocolatecake12 · 15/03/2020 11:41

Carrying on as usual - kids at school and me to work. Again no option to wfh as I’m nhs.

peachgreen · 15/03/2020 11:41

Meant to add, I'm setting up a desk as my work have told us to prepare to WFH until possibly September.

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/03/2020 11:42

I'm going away for training, I must admit I was expecting it to be cancelled. My husbands working locally. He could easily do his job from home if he was allowed.

I've just signed up for some volunteering, all on hold now.

Toothsil · 15/03/2020 11:42

DH is WFH tomorrow but will be at work on Tuesday, they've to WFH when they can but there are days when he has to see clients. I'm a SAHM and DD will be in school.

SauvignonBlanche · 15/03/2020 11:43

I thought many clinics were closed?
Yes, @ChardonnaysPetDragon so we are looking to redeploy staff to cover different roles, within their skill set to cover staff absent through sickness or lack of childcare.

ClientQueen · 15/03/2020 11:43

Work as usual. Until they start saying immunocompromised need to isolate

MsAwesomeDragon · 15/03/2020 11:43

I'm a teacher. I'll be working as normal until the schools close. I suspect I'll be teaching fewer kids than normal as they (hopefully) self isolate for coughs and/or fever. Based on usual rates of coughing in my classes I'm expecting about 3/4 of each class to be in school (unless their parents decide to keep them at home, which I completely understand!)
