Who is doing what?

I wish I could work from home, but I can't, and am worried about commuting.

I wfh mostly already but I have been able to make that all the time now. DH also wfh routinely so that's us for the duration. Dc have school though.

pinkazing · 15/03/2020 11:21

Received update on Friday night, that I’d be working from home until told to return to the office. Such a relief not to have to go in.

Rhubarbpeony · 15/03/2020 11:22

I have to be in court tomorrow so it’s a commute for me. My office is asking us to still come in as usual but I expect those of us who can will be moved to WFH before long.

tinytemper66 · 15/03/2020 11:22

Am a teacher so business as usual.

ginghamstarfish · 15/03/2020 11:23

I WFH already (part time) and DH's (IT) office closed on Friday, told them all to WFH until April 15th. South of Scotland.

TiddyTid · 15/03/2020 11:23

I'm self isolating on GP advice but WFH anyway. Cancelled any meetings this week at least.

apples24 · 15/03/2020 11:23

@IllustriousToad - it's crazy how widely different companies' advice is. Mine is the total opposite to yours, not allowed to work from office unless absolutely required to. For those who have to be in the office, teams are split into different sites as for business critical functions they don't want too many members of the same team ill simultaneously.

I feel like my employer's approach is very sensible and risk averse. And it better be as they're critical for the economy.

There's a possibility that if remote access starts hampering the servers, teams like mine (not business critical) may be blocked from access and our WFH will basically be "be available for calls".

sigmu87 · 15/03/2020 11:23

Working. My partner is a teacher though and has developed a cough so I’ve told them to stay off.

FailingMeansYouArePlaying · 15/03/2020 11:24

I've been moved to WFH and my husband can work anywhere so will also be WFH.

Bridecilla · 15/03/2020 11:24

I work Tues-Fri

Plan for 2m is the usual school run, gym, shopping routine.

Dp and I both work in a FE college. Fully expecting to close from maybe Tuesday / Wednesday and will work from home uploading resources and teaching online as best we can.

Also planning on texting parents in ds' class who will have to work and might need childcare help

BBCONEANDTWO · 15/03/2020 11:24

Going to work for as long as possible. Don't have an option to work from home but wouldn't want to anyway.

FabulouslyFab · 15/03/2020 11:24

Going into work. NHS admin and we have been told to be prepared to do jobs we may normally not do to provide cover as far as possible to support the services. We live in interesting times.

Chloemol · 15/03/2020 11:25

I will be working. Am keeping an eye on the Coronavirus status on the gov.uk website. As there are only few cases in my county at the moment I don’t see the point of not going in yet

Els1e · 15/03/2020 11:25

Going into work tomorrow but preparing to start wfh.

Fizzypoo · 15/03/2020 11:25

I've been told to WFH when possible, cancel external meetings if we can't dial or Skype in, special permission needs to be granted for those who go abroad.

We still need to go and see service users at the moment, although that is likely to change soon.

Full sick pay for self isolating and we will not be penalised.

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 15/03/2020 11:25

I'm self isolating as I have a very nasty dry cough which came on suddenly yesterday. Work have said I should stay off. I'm a teacher so can't work properly from home but can do planning, data, reports etc. Advice from children's school is that if a member of the household is self isolating with symptoms then kids should not be in school so they will be off. DH is SAHP so he is at home anyway.

I thought many clinics were closed?

I will be working from home under medical advice (workplace adjustments) as I am immunosurpressed and we had four people (ten percent of our staff) come into work with flu-like symptoms this week.

I may have lost my shit somewhat and thankfully my GP supported my shit losing.

I am lucky that I can work from home 100% although one task will be delayed (there are several other tasks I will be able to do in the commuting time that I haven't got done for the last six months).

Roominmyhouse · 15/03/2020 11:27

As it stands I have to go into the office but rumour has it my company have just had a big delivery of laptops so could end up WFH in the near future.

Frlrlrubert · 15/03/2020 11:27

DH will be WFH tomorrow as DD normally goes to PIL on a Monday and FIL is having chemo so not worth the risk. DD was coughing a bit in the night but now seems fine.

I teach so business as usual.

We don't have temperatures or continuous coughs so unless that changes it'll be nursery and DH back to work as well Tue to Fri.

If we get proper symptoms we'll obviously self isolate.

Mumteedum · 15/03/2020 11:28

Uni lecturer. We're still business as usual. I'm not too happy. I'd rather we went online delivery now. I'm asthmatic and high BP.

NaturalBornWoman · 15/03/2020 11:28

Want to self isolate as I've started showing symptoms but have been told by work that I have to go in

It's your responsibility to follow the government directive to stay at home if symptomatic. Your employer doesn't get to overrule that. You tell your employer that you are not coming in for 7 days as per government directive.

BiddyPop · 15/03/2020 11:28

I’m on a days leave tomorrow and Patrick’s day Tuesday but I have to go in on Wednesday. But the 3 meetings we are having are all planned as teleconferences now rather than face to face meetings.

About 1/3 of our staff can wfh formally and there is a prioritisation of needs going on (personal and business needs). But there is also pragmatism around caring responsibilities and any need to self isolate.

Butterfingers64 · 15/03/2020 11:28

I mainly WFH but as luck would have it I need to travel to three meetings this week, all non-essential in my view, but my boss requires it.

This will be the last week I go out and the last week my DS goes to school, come what may. I'm prepared to stuff the job and live off savings if I need to.

Mabelface · 15/03/2020 11:30

I'm off tomorrow anyway for annual leave. Wfh on Tuesday and just waiting for the call to do this for the foreseeable.
