Who is doing what?

I wish I could work from home, but I can't, and am worried about commuting.

OP posts:

Retail. Going in and pulling apart hysterical morons squabbling over toilet roll 🙄security had to intervene on Friday, you couldn't make it up.
Bring back the days when you only had to worry about armed robbery or being verbally abused for daring to implement the challenge 25 policy. Now I'm held personally responsible for the lack of toilet roll as well.
I'm assuming 'use your sock darling' will not be an appropriate response 😂

GreenMagnolias · 15/03/2020 12:03

My entire office can work from home, and usually work out of the office as we have site visits. There is absolutely NO REASON why we could not have shut last week without it affecting our business.

But the CEO is sticking rigidly to the concept that the Government has not told us to shut down, so we go in as usual.

I think it is barking to be honest.

Tomorrow I am taking my office plant home with me though.

megletthesecond · 15/03/2020 12:05

Don't work Monday's. Avoiding the gym class that I love Sad. DS is skipping karate.
Bike service (doubt it'll be busy) and hopefully quiet town centre shops for a few bits. The out of town shops seem far worse.

SedentaryCat · 15/03/2020 12:08

DH and I are both in tomorrow - there's just the two of us and we're going to be looking at moving some things home so that we can work fully from home over the coming weeks.

I don't think we'll see any change in the level of work we need to do, just a change in location for the time being.

Mumblechum0 · 15/03/2020 12:08

Self isolating as DH has full blown CV symptoms.

I can do most of my work by phone and Skype so until I get symptoms I'll carry on as normal, but have had to cancel all home visits and nice social lunches etc 😟

Sazerac · 15/03/2020 12:09

WFH - all staff who can have been asked to for the foreseeable.

Just as glad given the small but significant percent of muppets who 'soldier on' and rock up with all kinds of bugs despite the fact that most of my department can quite easily WFH if necessary.

InterpreterNotMandarin · 15/03/2020 12:09

There will be cancellations of Routine Clinics to concentrate on the Higher Risk ones

PLEASE remember to cancel your interpreters or they will have to attend.

Im a carer to my two kids with autism.
Im also a single parent in a very isolated area.
I have no underlying health conditions but I am very keen to stay well due to my responsibilities (as I am sure many many others are).

Dd has a swollen nose, and I feel like I've been bopped on the nose but no other symptoms of anything at all so hardly want to panic but I am still considering keeping them off school until Easter (they are only on a p/t timetable anyway)
Also wondering about cancelling a routine hosp visit on Tues for me (50miles away).
I'd feel bad doing this at such short notice but I am worried about using petrol needlessly and the hospital has carpet floor tiles that are always stained and filthy and I just dont want to be there atm.
The kids Father visits them weekly but drives a bus which is also filthy so that bothers me a bit too. Ooof!

HoldMyLobster · 15/03/2020 12:13

I'll be working from home and social distancing as much as possible.

My younger two's school is closed so they'll be home.

My oldest's university is closed so she'll be home.

Last night I upgraded our internet speed...

Wauden · 15/03/2020 12:13

I will go to the office tomorrow as usual. I took my work laptop and notebook home with me on Friday in case they send a communication to tell me to wfh.

Disappointed by the lack of leadership in my organisation. There is no plan at all! I asked to see it and after probing, management said that 'a plan was being written for our work area'.

Then I discussed this with my manager's manager and asked what about my targets and how do you want me to work if I cannot meet people and if I cannot visit places and she is the only person to get it.
Only the union has an actual plan already written!
Meanwhile the organisation just sends emails quoting what is already on the internet and have you returned from Wuhan? Pathetic.

Confused

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/03/2020 12:13

Ahh yes , good point

We do have a few patients that require Interpreters , it is flagged in the Bookings .

PhoneLock · 15/03/2020 12:14

Uni lecturer. We're still business as usual. I'm not too happy. I'd rather we went online delivery now.

So am I and we have gone to online delivery. Staff still have to go in to create the online resources and assessment. Our workload has gone through the roof.

inselfisolationnow · 15/03/2020 12:17

Seems pointless if half the household go out as normal and others stay in. The person at home is still effectively 'going out'.

Not if you isolate properly

KateF · 15/03/2020 12:18

Going to work. Our nursery will stay open as long as possible and as we will only get SSP if closed I'm sort of glad. My only concern is that I'm 50 and the only time I've ever had flu I got pneumonia so it's preying on my mind a bit.

wendz86 · 15/03/2020 12:18

WFH . Our company haven’t shut office but encouraging us to wfh .

tashakg89 · 15/03/2020 12:19

We're just going about our normal daily lives until told otherwise...

ProseccoSupernova · 15/03/2020 12:19

Does anyone else think that government are unlikely to now roll out the WFH recommendations? If they are about to roll
Out the ‘over 70s’ stay at home then surely they want us to be working/moving around to do this herd immunity approach?! Pissed off if so as I can easily work from home (As can everyone else in company) and have hideous commute that could do without!

BeuatifulHorrorStory · 15/03/2020 12:19

I'm on leave this week- and am self isolating out of an over- abundance of caution, at least until day 5. No symptoms though, just paranoia and no real need to leave the house at the moment.

Mammyloveswine · 15/03/2020 12:20

I'm a teacher, business as usual for us!

BeuatifulHorrorStory · 15/03/2020 12:21

I think they will want people to WFH still. it reduces the transmission speed- less people on trains, buses etc. There are plenty of people who can not work from home, so taking a fairly significant chunk of the population away is a good way to flatten the curve early on.

lazylinguist · 15/03/2020 12:21

Going to work. Dh and I are both teachers and schools are business as usual. Dc obviously going to school too.

theneverendinglaundry · 15/03/2020 12:23

I'm a sahm, DH working from home for the foreseeable future, 2 older kids going to school, youngest in isolation as of yesterday. I think she's fine but she's coughing so I'm not chancing it.

blue25 · 15/03/2020 12:25

WFH tomorrow and the foreseeable future.

everythingisginandroses · 15/03/2020 12:26

Work as usual. May move to WFH, that will be employer's decision not mine. I am tired of reading hysterical posts on here saying 'avoid public transport'. I live 18 miles from work and I don't drive Hmm

HunterHearstHelmsley · 15/03/2020 12:26

I'll be working from home tomorrow. I'll go into the office at some point. Probably Tuesday or Wednesday.
