Piers Morgan right for once

Taking to Twitter, 54-year-old Piers said:
“Tonight (Wednesday evening), 1000s of Atletico Madrid fans are in Liverpool - despite their own city being in virtual lockdown, INCLUDING their own matches, because Madrid's been ravaged by Coronavirus.
This is total madness. What the hell is the British Government doing????"

I would only add this was at a time when the British government was already in possession of the facts as to the projected scale/impact of the virus on the UK. Absolutely treasonous and I do not use that word lightly.

It pains me to say it but I'll give him this ONE. Grin

slipperywhensparticus · 13/03/2020 08:36

Ok he has it right this time

ThanosSavedMe · 13/03/2020 08:38

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

TreeTopTim · 13/03/2020 08:38

I am not panicking and I am trying to go about my normal life as much as I can but I think all big events and international travel should be cancelled.

People should also take responsibility for themselves as well as the government putting in restrictions.

cochineal7 · 13/03/2020 08:40

I give him this one. The government is not on the ball at all.

calllaaalllaaammma · 13/03/2020 08:40

If course he’s right it was bloody obvious

QuizzlyBear · 13/03/2020 08:42

Well the big takeaways from Boris's speech yesterday was 'wash your hands and expect your loved ones to die' so I don't think they're exactly on the ball in this one.

In terms of stirring 'we'll fight then in the biolabs' speeches, it left a lot to be desired...

Cam77 · 13/03/2020 08:47

@QuizzlyBear
But come on, the hand washing advice has been world class in its level of detail.

OP posts:
QuizzlyBear · 13/03/2020 08:50

😂😂😂 other countries take this incredibly seriously; quarantine cities, ban overseas visitors, close schools, limit contact.

We get told to sing happy birthday while washing our hands. Twice. 🥳

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 08:52

Unrelated but... How?Shock What am I missing?
Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Newjez · 13/03/2020 08:53

He is right sometimes. He was right in the election with the new nurses, when he said they aren't new nurses, they're just the same nurses which haven't left. Which is a shame, because we could do with some real new nurses.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 08:53

Omg ignore me I am so stupid

CaptainButtock · 13/03/2020 08:54

A STOPPED clock

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 08:55

In my defence I have hangover from hell and forgot how time works.

Back to the topic.
Liverpool is invincible. We survived cuts, we will survive virus

CaptainButtock · 13/03/2020 08:55
Grin
longwayoff · 13/03/2020 08:55

I'm amazed that valuable and expensive footballers are being permitted to be exposed to the virus in this way, surely their insurers wouldn't pay out if any infections occured? Don't their employers have a duty of care? Expect the Courts to be busy, if we have any lawyers left.

PatchworkElmer · 13/03/2020 08:55

I am deeply disconcerted by the fact that Piers Morgan is now apparently the voice of reason- these are truly unprecedented, desperate times.

... Of course he’s right. I am grateful that he’s saying it.

WorraLiberty · 13/03/2020 08:56

Bodies to be fair, the expression is 'stopped' clock Grin

Moneypenny007 · 13/03/2020 08:59

Over 3000 Italians landed in Dublin last weekend because they already had their flights and accommodation paid for...

halcyondays · 13/03/2020 08:59

He’s right about this. I think they miss the point about open air events, they need to remember that to get to them people travel in close contact, they gather in crowded pubs before the match etc.

Did you see Jurgen Klopp looking absolutely furious when fans were trying to high five him and his players?

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 09:00

Blush I was doing sanitising from the inside and obviously lost some brain cellsBlush

Re the insurance. It will be interesting. Afaik there are few players in various teams already tested positive...

halcyondays · 13/03/2020 09:02

There are, and the Arsenal manager has it. I think we’ll be seeing all matches cancelled soon.

Langsdestiny · 13/03/2020 09:03

I am not sure about the stopped clock thing, American gun laws, Iraq, womans right to single sex sport. All piers morgan views I agree on.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 13/03/2020 09:04

Yup. There are whispers about cancellations. We also have Grand National in 3 weeks.

JessicaLangoustine · 13/03/2020 09:06

What's even more alarming is that Jeremy Hunt is sounding like an elder statesman on this topic.
