Saturday night we are going to a concert in Newcastle (well we were meant to be )
We've paid for train (over £100 each ) and hotel (£150 split) and £80 ticket each.
Tonight she text saying she isn't coming as she is scared incase she catches coronavirus.
So I have nobody to go with and we only reserved hotel so I will have to pay £150 for that.
Aibu to be Annoyed?
I told her to get a grip, and was she planning on not going out till after this has gone.

Oh how funny!! Are you coming back OP to give us your reasons why you think they have cancelled?????????

QueSera · 14/03/2020 00:21

OP you must be having us on.
I struggle to believe that someone could be as selfish, self-centred, ignorant and wilfully blind as you are portraying yourself. Are you really for real?

wheresmymojo · 14/03/2020 00:23

This thread has aged well Grin

  • Script: cancelled
  • All football games: cancelled
  • All rugby games: cancelled
  • Most other concerts: cancelled
  • Disneyland: closed
  • Flights between Europe & US: cancelled

Still think the people on this thread are gripped by hysteria OP or perhaps just paying closer attention than the average idiot person that's still going out in town?

Emmelina · 14/03/2020 00:32

@wheresmymojo everything we’ve all said would happen, weirdly enough ;)

mamasiz · 14/03/2020 02:56

YABU. Your friend has a right to cancel but I do agree she should pay. The government aren’t going to help us - the situation is that you have to take matters into your own hands to protect yourself. Under the circumstances going to a large concert is a stupid move, unless you want the virus that is. There will be other concerts - this isn’t worth losing your friendship over.

Actionhasmagic · 14/03/2020 03:03

She should pay - then you should respect her decision

Topseyt · 14/03/2020 03:19

Perhaps OP thinks The Script are just being hysterical now!

LightAsTheBreeze · 14/03/2020 05:55

I think a lot will postpone tours now, we received our the Who tickets yesterday for April 1st but that's been postponed so we just keep our tickets for the new dates and if it is not suitable send them back for refund

lindseyvvt · 14/03/2020 09:52

Tonight has been cancelled by the band because Danny (lead singer ) has tonsillitis and was loosing his voice in Aberdeen last night.

Right, so nothing whatsoever to do with the pandemic.

Billie Eilish just happens to have tonsillitis too. And My Chemical Romance just didn't fancy going on their Australasian tour -- probably a little tickle in the throat? The Booker Prize ceremony judges and nominees also had a touch of sore throat. Hmm

Emmelina · 14/03/2020 10:09

I wouldn’t have been able to tell with Billie Eilish to be fair, can barely make out a word she sings as it is ;)

lindseyvvt · 14/03/2020 10:10

If you had watched last Saturdays live stream from Dublin ,he was ill with his throat then

BIWI · 14/03/2020 10:15

Right. You're boring now.

NoBoojustNo · 14/03/2020 11:10

This is just comedy gold.

Thanks Op for the thread

You really can't help stupid can you.

lindseyvvt · 14/03/2020 11:25

@NoBoojustNo no you can't,I'm assuming your one of them hoarding toilet rolls

crustycrab · 14/03/2020 11:40

Bloody hell 😂 and the boss at jet2 has got a sore throat so cancelled all flights.

It's developed quicker than you thought and in the end your friend was right to be concerned. Just own it

crustycrab · 14/03/2020 11:40

And it's you're not your Grin

NoBoojustNo · 14/03/2020 12:32

@lindseyvvt nope we've not stock pilled a single thing. We're actually quite good preppers all the time.

And I'm in the at risk group, as is my husband and both sets of our parents. We will probably loose at least one out of the four of our parents. But hell never mind eh? We can't be hampering your social life can we.

ThisSistineWontScreamAtItself · 14/03/2020 13:51

This. Why is it that so many posters can't just come back to their thread and say oops looks like I was wrong but no harm done...?

Do you genuinely think that so many major concerts have been cancelled (The Script is just one of them) in the last few days for reasons unrelated to coronavirus? Or do you acknowledge that almost all of them are due to caution about coronavirus?

Everyone is wrong sometimes, it doesn't have to be a big deal. You're making it one by not conceding that your friend was right on this occasion.

lindseyvvt · 14/03/2020 14:22

I'm not saying that.
Obviously there has been concerts cancelled and no doubt Glastonbury will be cancelled.
I'm saying that I do think it was because of his throat as they played in Scotland last night and James Arthur played at the arena last night
From next week everything will be cancelled.

OP posts:
ThisSistineWontScreamAtItself · 14/03/2020 14:28

So she wasn't being unreasonable was she? Because it's now clear that many events over the last week and moving forwards have been cancelled because of coronavirus.

The Script may have cancelled for another reason, but your friend was right to think it was likely a concert like that would be due to coronavirus. Because loads have been.

lindseyvvt · 14/03/2020 14:57

Everyone has different opinions on this.
Not everyone's gonna see things the same way.
Some people might think it's ott others might not

OP posts:
daisypond · 14/03/2020 14:59

Every expert sees it in the same way. It’s irrelevant what random “people” think.

FlamingoAndJohn · 14/03/2020 15:00

Out of interest, what are your views on climate change?

ThisSistineWontScreamAtItself · 14/03/2020 15:05

Yes I know everyone has different opinions.

That's why I asked if you now think your original opinion was wrong due to what's happened since your first post.

I was curious to know. Not answering the question is your prerogative 🤷🏻‍♀️
