Trying to keep toddler busy but it’s hard work and my house is constantly destroyed in new and frustrating ways. We have started getting some of the warmest weather so far now. I think we have finally started settling in though she’s finally stopped asking to go out not sure if that makes me sad or not. More signs up in our street now made me laugh as one was upside down lol

I think our world will definitely change now.

@BirdandSparrow may I commend you on putting people straight on facts about Spain on the analysis thread. Thank you.

BillieEilish · 26/03/2020 13:16

My flat has never been so quiet, the ndn's are definitely going somewhere during the day.

The DH is at work, but the 2 under 4 and the wife are not there for the second day in a row. Where is she taking them?

Grandma I think. They are home in the evening, believe me! They are the most selfish people ever, so it doesn't surprise me, all have a terrible cough too.

BirdandSparrow · 26/03/2020 13:33

may I commend you on putting people straight on facts about Spain on the analysis thread about the "they're all old in Spain and smoke"? It really gets on my tits the way people keep trying to claim the UK is somehow different and immune. I mean, I'm really glad if their figures are dropping, but if it's true, it's not cos of anything they did or any great plan.

Anyway, DS is 12 today. We've just had some of the Mercadona birthday cake and it was very nice! It's quite nice in a way that DH is working home as he was here at lunchtime.

The technology is crap, he's managed to answer 3 calls all morning because they can't all access the server, but at least he's in work and working from home.
Once DD stops videocalling her friend I'll upload a photo of the cake.

Nameisthegame · 26/03/2020 13:52

Can you send me a link to the thread? And happy birthday to your little guy!

@BillieEilish it’s so selfish bodies are lying I’m a ice rink and they think nothing applies to them.

The Uk needs to be afraid, a family friend who works in construction is working on building a new hospital in London the morgue is the same size footprint as the hospital they are expecting massive death rate especially if it mutates.

@BirdandSparrow. Happy Birthday DS!

Also Birds, the comment ' the Spanish health service is pants'!

BillieEilish · 26/03/2020 15:18

@Nameisthegame, I am avoiding commenting on these threads now. They are SO irritating, they will be feeling less smug and harping on about 'their daily exercise' soon, when the reality hits them.

Not that I wish that, of course not. I just don't like this 'poor you living in a substandard, dirty, stupid country' My DD called it 'uncivilised' and I am no longer speaking to her!

BillieEilish · 26/03/2020 15:20

  • Not my DD! My DSis!

Can you imagine, my internet just went down for 30 minutes Shock I was lost!

Novia · 26/03/2020 15:31

I think it's known as British exceptionalism, the idea that they are special and the rest of the world are backwards. Hence ex pats vs immigrants, etc! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Gives me the rage. And that Guardian article about how the Spanish effort to contain the virus failed was appalling, especially considering UK and US responses.

Nameisthegame · 26/03/2020 16:37

I can’t believe citizen advice spain had to put this up some shocking comments being posted recently.

@Nameisthegame, what sort of thing? Roughly?

elQuintoConyo · 26/03/2020 18:39

I have stepped awaaaaaaaaay from most threads on here. A shower of idiots posting. I'm not going to read them or argue with them. Too busy trying to WFH home well enough to not lose my job!

Peace and love everyone Brew

Nameisthegame · 26/03/2020 18:44

People acting like children and trolls, saying people are idiots, some mildly racist they get removed pretty quickly by admin. Just pretty nasty telling off etc

It’s a advice from a charity not Aibu on mn

OP posts:
BirdandSparrow · 26/03/2020 18:49

Still a lot of people on MN thinking the Uk is somehow special and that lockdown doesn't apply to them. I can't count the number of people who claim they NEED to go for a run outdoors.

BillieEilish · 26/03/2020 19:06

Agreed. 'for their mental health'

TheSparklyPussycat · 26/03/2020 20:06

But we're allowed out for exercise once a day, the reasons being that we need people to be fit, and we need to care for our mental health.

TheSparklyPussycat · 26/03/2020 20:12

(I'm a lurker in England - have a friend stuck in Spain.)

Novia · 26/03/2020 20:28

Yes - but as (mostly) Brits abroad, this idea that you can isolate and still be outside is crazy to those of us living in the epicentre of the virus in Europe. Why are the UK so super special that they can't stay indoors and stay safe? There is already strong evidence that people are taking the piss out of the rules. You guys are heading for disaster (we are living in it right now) and all that we see on Mumsnet, our social media and family WhatsApp groups are people utterly underestimating the gravity of the situation.
