Anyone else in Spain and finding the jump in numbers from yesterday to today shocking? www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/world/coronavirus-maps.html 700 to 1070 in one day.

Thanks for starting this thread. I'm not one to panic but it is reassuring to share all our experiences thus far.

Plus I don't always understand the news fully !

I'm in the Basque Country, not Vitoria. Yesterday was strange, everything normal in the morning and by school pick up I'd lost most of my (self employed) job and was picking up the kids for the last time for 5 weeks or so. Today we had a meeting (i work in a school) about how we're going to teach remotely. It was surreal wishing my colleagues good luck instead of good bye at the end.

Numbers on the Camino are dropping drastically. Many albergues are closed, and the Xunta de Galicia just announced that all municipal albergues in Galicia will be operating at ⅓ capacity: m.eldiario.es/politica/Xunta-turismo-analizan-situacion-coronavirus_0_1005449939.html

I am in Valencia city (waves at @BillieEilish). They have just announced that all bars, restaurants, cinemas etc are closed from tonight.

It has suddenly got a whole lot worse.

Is this info online anywhere Donna please? My husband is meant to flying to Valencia on sunday for work related things which is going ahead atm as the event hell be working hasnt been cancelled and the flight is still happening just hoping we get a definitive answer before sunday!

Prime Minister has just made an announcement

State of emergency has been declared. Here is what I understood:
Border with Marocco to remain open to allow Spanish to come back home, but only for a couple of days.
Supermarkets and pharmacies remain open, everything else to close.
So far still unclear about travel restrictions. It's been said multiple times that Spain is on many countries' "black list" but unsure what that means with people flying into Spain. Also unclear about travel between mainland Spain and the surrounding spanish islands.

That's what I got from it. Anybody have more info?

Tomorrow they will make another announcement with more details and what measures are specifally being taken.

Love hearing about Valencia as I lived there for two years in 2001! Long time ago now.
Sad that Fallas is being cancelled , but it can be chaotic so I can see why !

We have three weeks until Easter and the school I work at is convinced it will be extended until the Easter hols so 5 weeks away from school in total

I’m really starting to get worried my restaurant was meant to open this month.

@ofitck crap. My ex works in a school I’m starting to think I’m never going to get my maintenance money, it seems they might not pay him or only pay part.

I’m getting my salary from my school if that helps, as far as I know at least! But I’ve lost all my self employed work.

@BillieEilish haha no idea what food to get my dd there is a very small amount of stuff she will eat right now, bananas,cereal,ham and rice....and patatas lol 😂

@Ofitck he said he won’t be paid for privates or business classes 😬 so that’s a lot of his wages.

Thank you for this thread. We are meant to be sailing out in 2 weeks time heading for Malaga province. OH still wants to go but I m monitoring hour by hour lol but looks unlikely now. Will need to check our travel insurance
