Nr out of loo roll. Weekly shop today. Aldi, tesco asda x2 and sainsburys had none I mean not even the cheap stuff or fancy patternwd type ones.

Luckily wilko had some.

Couldn't even get pasta, prob have to just get in costco not to bulk panic buy but in hope they have some. I just don't get it there as storage here is crap.

Infant formula, ds can only tolerate one. I norm buy 4 at a time. Struggled to get that even

Now I knew about the handwash etc and always have that anyway.
Tesco cleaning aisle was also bare except the likes of oven cleaner, polish.. Everything antibac or likewise was gone!

I just want to shop normally.

Yes, if we do it ourselves it's "stocking up". If other people do it it's "panic buying

First rule of getting stuff in. It's other people who panic buy.

Redyoyo · 06/03/2020 22:42

I think my 2 children might be single handidly causing the shortage we use 9 rolls a week!

ManonBlackbeak · 06/03/2020 22:45

Its a bit like when there's no snow forecast and people go mad and buy up all the bread and milk. Ive always wondered WTF that is all about?

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 22:45

red

Im keeping my head down...we use masses of bog roll and its pretty much just dd and i going through it

AddressLabel · 06/03/2020 22:45

Well my DH clearly needs to get with the programme. He came home with 4 boxes of cereal and some UHT milk?!

OtherVoicesOtherRooms · 06/03/2020 22:46

Where are you all?!
Business as usual here!
I feel like I've missed a memo or something...

eaglejulesk · 06/03/2020 22:46

I'm in New Zealand and in my local supermarket yesterday they did have toilet paper, but not much and most of the shelf was empty. It's ridiculous.

WhiteBadger · 06/03/2020 22:46

Nope just been to Tesco and shelves are full.

Huge display of toilet roll near the doors.

Seriously why are people panic buying toilet rolls and hand sanitiser. They're nuts!

I don't know anyone in real life who is admitting to stocking up!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/03/2020 22:46

Local Asda had no dry pasta at all this afternoon.
Long life milk and paracetamol likewise all gone.
I forgot to check the loo roll aisle, since we usually have a good stock anyway.,

MissGuernsey · 06/03/2020 22:46

West London here. No pasta, toilet roll or soap in the Tesco Extra or the large Asda. I normally have well-stocked cupboards but I am low on pasta. No lentils either so will try the Indian groceries tomorrow. I was looking forward to making a curried lentil soup to eat after my cross-country race. I only have about 50g so not enough for soup. Arseholes panic-buying. The staff are bemused.

Alsohuman · 06/03/2020 22:47

Glad it's not just me, read it 3 times and still none the wiser

Thanks, I was wondering if dementia was setting in for a moment there.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 22:47

I don't know anyone in real life who is admitting to stocking up

Well no...

Cos youre gonna call them nuts

TheMustressMhor · 06/03/2020 22:48

I voted YABU because this should be in the coronavirus topic.

Andylion · 06/03/2020 22:48

We are a household of 4 and have 3 toilets and go through about 9 rolls in 2 weeks.
"I must be doing something wrong because there is 2 of us and 9 rolls last us maybe 2 weeks"

It's just me at home, but I realize that I have no idea how quickly I use the stuff. I have been quietly buying a pack whenever I shop and now I have a ton of the stuff and nowhere to store it. Don't ask me why. There was a bandwagon and I jumped aboard. I never took the last pack on the shelf, either.

I'm not in the UK though. My hometown was hit hard by SARS and I am just being cautious.

Notcontent · 06/03/2020 22:48

I am in London and have been able to get everything except hand sanitiser.

I stocked up on a few things for two reasons. Firstly, I was getting a bit panicky a couple of weeks ago, so doing something helped me feel a bit more in control, Secondly, I wanted to make sure I had enough supplies if I got sick/had to stay at home, etc. I am a lone parent with no family nearby so need to be completely self reliant.

OtherVoicesOtherRooms · 06/03/2020 22:49

Why is everyone buying loo roll?
I understand why the little bottles of hand sanitizer are in short supply but why loo roll?

MissGuernsey · 06/03/2020 22:50

No tinned mackerel either. I like that on toast. Didn't think it was that popular!

Helpwithdilemma101 · 06/03/2020 22:50

The thing I can't get my head around is why the first thing people think to stock up on is bog roll? Are we all about to drown in a raging torrent of shit?

MiniMum97 · 06/03/2020 22:50

And people are scoffing at the preppers....

MiniMum97 · 06/03/2020 22:51

*were not are!

feellikeanalien · 06/03/2020 22:51

Our local Lidl didn't have a single toilet roll and Home Bargains was totally out of tissues (apart from Paw Patrol ones Smile.

Both shops did have loads of pasta but there was a distinct lack of baby wipes.

I seem to remember when people were talking about stockpiling for Brexit that toilet roll was also one of the main items.

Maybe I should become a toilet roll manufacturer.

I'm in Northumberland and we have a case in Newcastle. DD has been told to take her own pencil case to school!

Namechangexyz1 · 06/03/2020 22:52

I dont get the loo roll either.

If you had to you could just hose it down in the shower.

Food maybe I understand but loo roll ffs

SallyLovesCheese · 06/03/2020 22:53

My mum's local Sainsbury's today had about six packs of loo roll left, that was it. I managed to grab one as we only have two rolls left!

The only other empty shelves were the oven chips. Confused

shortytrekker · 06/03/2020 22:53

Oh my god. I haven't been to a shop since Monday and I'm shocked! It wasn't like this then. I can't believe people don't already have a cupboard stuffed full of various cleaning products they've forgotten they have, before buying more next shop, same with soap. We did stock up on toilet rolls from our usual place (not supermarket) because they were on a bloody good offer - I wasn't thinking of the Coronavirus. Glad I did now.

bbpet · 06/03/2020 22:53

Im having the worst period cramps and couldn't get any pain killers, this panic buying is ridiculous.
