Nr out of loo roll. Weekly shop today. Aldi, tesco asda x2 and sainsburys had none I mean not even the cheap stuff or fancy patternwd type ones.

Luckily wilko had some.

Couldn't even get pasta, prob have to just get in costco not to bulk panic buy but in hope they have some. I just don't get it there as storage here is crap.

Infant formula, ds can only tolerate one. I norm buy 4 at a time. Struggled to get that even

Now I knew about the handwash etc and always have that anyway.
Tesco cleaning aisle was also bare except the likes of oven cleaner, polish.. Everything antibac or likewise was gone!

I just want to shop normally.

Piccalino I found spraying the trolley handle on entry to Costco a complete waste of time. If, by any chance, there was any corona virus on the handle it would already have been transferred to my hands whilst pushing the trolley in and then I would have transferred it back on to the trolley handle from my own hands after spraying.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 06/03/2020 22:26

I went to my local Sainsburys this evening. Loo roll has possibly less stock than usual. The shelves are still full of pasta, cous cous and rice.

I grabbed a few extra packs of nappies. They are on offer. Shelves looked sparse so figured an extra pack or two was wise.

I'm in the Midlands. Is it a regional thing?

Pyjamaface · 06/03/2020 22:26

I'm bloody annoyed cos I always do a big stock up shop at the end of March (bonus time). Loads of tinned tomatoes, tuna, veg etc etc fill up the store cupboard stuff for when we're skint the rest of the year.
Now I'm going to look like I'm one of the weirdo panic buyers but I'm not

At least I don't need toilet roll. I get that in bulk from Amazon every so often so I've got 45 rolls in my wardrobe atm Grin

ItIsWhatItIsInnit · 06/03/2020 22:27

*Who the fuck gets down tho their last one before getting more?

No-one, that's who.*

Me!

HunterHearstHelmsley · 06/03/2020 22:27

Oh anti bac was gone but loads of soap and hand wash.

Justanotherlurker · 06/03/2020 22:27

Yes, if we do it ourselves it's "stocking up". If other people do it it's "panic buying

There is a clear difference to stocking up and panic buying, there is a reason why threads like this appear.

@Summercat

Ignore bellinisurge, she is trying to score political points on this, she unironically shared some start up gov petition

TooTrueToBeGood · 06/03/2020 22:29

I work from home and apart from walking the dog haven't been out for the past week. I went to Tesco tonight. Quite bizarre. The sort of things you would expect to stock up with in preparation for a zombie apocalypse - tins, rice, pasta, flour dried pulses etc - were plentiful. Bread, eggs and sugar had been stripped bare. Apparently it's been like that for days. As soon as they get stock in it gets wiped out. I can only assume people are planning to survive on french toast.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 22:30

Yeah you are ...you weirdo panic buyer you Grin

frumpety · 06/03/2020 22:30

We are a household of 4 and have 3 toilets and go through about 9 rolls in 2 weeks

Well done you ! I must waste at least a toilet roll every 5 days just wiping wee off the seat before sitting down , due to DS2's exuberant weeing ! household of 4 and we go through 9 in less than a week. Will sit down and have 'that' chat about lifting the seat again Smile

JoshArcherStoleMyTractor · 06/03/2020 22:32

Panic buying doesn't seem to be happening here, and we have a confirmed case a few miles away.

VadenuRewetje · 06/03/2020 22:33

not too bad for us - today there were no 9-packs but plenty of 4 packs so I just got two of those. we haven't sunk to quite the depths of depravity of other places.

Reallybadidea · 06/03/2020 22:33

A pack of 9 lasts me and DH a sodding month! And like most NORMAL people, we have at LEAST 9 to 12 loo rolls in at any one time anyway. Who the fuck gets down tho their last one before getting more?

Right, but there's only the 2 of you by the sounds of it. There are 6 of us, we get through about 7 a week, which is roughly the same per person as you and your DH. That's based on us all being at school and work during the day - if we were quarantined we'd be getting through a fair bit more. So in 2 weeks we could easily be getting through 18 and if it was a month then 36. So even though I had 9 already it made sense to buy a few more. I would guess other people felt similarly, seems fairly reasonable to me.

Buying a trolley load would be mad though!

confusednortherner · 06/03/2020 22:34

A few toilet rolls but not many in Tesco tonight, no soap or antibac in Tesco, Morrison's or coop locally today!

okiedokieme · 06/03/2020 22:35

It really depends where you are, Lidl was fully stocked today whereas yesterday apparently Sainsburys had no loo roll. I only bought some because we were down to 2 rolls and were out of bleach completely

WalkingDeadTrainee · 06/03/2020 22:35

I must be doing something wrong because there is 2 of us and 9 rolls last us maybe 2 weeks😳

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 22:35

I was in tesco yesterday and it was full except for hand wash stuff

That was depleted but by no means empty

TheHagOnTheHill · 06/03/2020 22:37

Our local Tesco's which normally runs out of ordinary things had no toilet roll .There also seemed to be bulk buying of cheaper catfood.
I needed liquid soap refill,no problem as I don't get the antbacterial stuff, bar soap was low.
There was also lots of paracetamol.
The shp was busy but apart from the run on pet food I it didn't seem anyone was bulk buying.

Justanotherlurker · 06/03/2020 22:37

This thread will now not call out the OP for being hysterical but bring about a new meme of how many toilet rolls is acceptable to use.

It will miss the point of this thread nearly reaching peak MN and why across the rest of the web it is considered 'karens on presseco' pretending they have the the political steer of 4chan.

It really is becoming comical at this point

Pyjamaface · 06/03/2020 22:38

Grin But a filthy one that doesn't wipe her arse cos of my secret loo roll stash

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 22:40

Boak 🤢

themarkofthemaker · 06/03/2020 22:40

think the panic buying is mainly going on in more affluent areas from what I've seen - "beggar thy neighbour" probably explains why they have more money than Ms Average lol

dustibooks · 06/03/2020 22:40

I keep reading threads on here about panic buying and how the shelves are bare of toilet rolls, cleaning products, pasta, you name it.

So I've been checking.

Every supermarket, corner shop and petrol station I've been in over the past week has had all of those things in stock. I've not seen empty shelves anywhere.

Alsohuman · 06/03/2020 22:40

Is it just me or does that sentence make no sense whatsoever?

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 06/03/2020 22:42

I find that a lot

Reallybadidea · 06/03/2020 22:42

Glad it's not just me, read it 3 times and still none the wiser
