Nr out of loo roll. Weekly shop today. Aldi, tesco asda x2 and sainsburys had none I mean not even the cheap stuff or fancy patternwd type ones.

Luckily wilko had some.

Couldn't even get pasta, prob have to just get in costco not to bulk panic buy but in hope they have some. I just don't get it there as storage here is crap.

Infant formula, ds can only tolerate one. I norm buy 4 at a time. Struggled to get that even

Now I knew about the handwash etc and always have that anyway.
Tesco cleaning aisle was also bare except the likes of oven cleaner, polish.. Everything antibac or likewise was gone!

I just want to shop normally.

@Sh05

Scroll down and Client Queen has linked to some that was still available this am.

shinyredbus · 10/03/2020 09:43

It’s all a bit strange isn’t it. Pandemic coming, we all seem to need clean arses. I would have thought food would have been first to go but no - loo roll. (FWIW the Waitrose near me has not run out of anything)

MRex · 10/03/2020 09:59

How does the verb "to shop" decline now?

I buy a few bits on top of my regular shop
You make sure you have enough in
It looks a bit empty on these shelves
We stock up
You get some extra
They panic buy

Samcro · 10/03/2020 10:01

it was like end of days in ASDA just now.
what with the panic buyers and lack of staff.
I hope the panic buyers end up broke with only toilet roll to eat.

MarshaBradyo · 10/03/2020 10:13

Lol at end of days in Asda
Still civilised in my supermarket. Feeling exempt

ralfeesmum · 10/03/2020 11:49

Very sorry to report that yesterday I observed two women with full trolleys furtively snatching items from the FoodBank Donations receptical, chuck them on top of their purchases and then scoot out like they were on fire!

Still, doubtless they'll be on CCTV.......shame on them, the scumbags!

(What on earth has happened to Humanity?)

Phifedean123 · 10/03/2020 11:52

Well it's hit my part of Liverpool. Just been 4 shops and toilet roll completely cleared out this morning. Had to end up getting little boxes of tissues 😑

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/03/2020 12:08

Oh FFS I’m in Liverpool. I can understand sanitiser selling out and being in high demand, but I’m not getting this weird obsession with toilet paper.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/03/2020 12:11

Re panic buying though. Should there not be a strict rule in place only 2 of the same item per customer. 3 at a push.

belay · 10/03/2020 12:13

I'm in a large city - no shortages here

Waspnest · 10/03/2020 12:38

Loo roll bulk buying is the one thing I can understand (I always keep a few bags of pasta in because DD and DH love it - I hate it, plus bottles of passata, coffee etc because we live in a rural area). As a pp said it's a bit like cloth nappies and washable wipes. When DD was a baby there was me and one other person that I knew using reusables, everyone else was a bit urgh about buckets of soiled nappies and maybe transferring poo to a washing machine. Those people are not going to miraculously change their minds and start wiping their arses with flannels or start showering after every poo when the alternative is just swiping loo roll off the shelves.

Curiosity101 · 10/03/2020 12:55

@Phifedean123 Had to end up getting little boxes of tissues

Be careful if you're planning to use normal tissue in place of toilet paper. Toilet paper breaks up when it comes into contact with water but facial tissues and kitchen roll doesn't. This means you can end up with blocked sewage pipes.

I appreciate you may not have much choice - but just giving you a heads up in case you didn't know.

RufustheLanglovingreindeer · 10/03/2020 12:56

curiosity

Thank you, i was just thinking of taking a pack of tissues just in case when i go out and I wouldn’t have thought of that

thegcatsmother · 10/03/2020 13:06

Loads of loo roll in my local Tesco, stacks of it, literally, so I got 2 packs of 32 rolls, as it was the cheapest way for my preferred brand. A woman tutted at me and then commented that it wasn't really necessary to have all that loo roll. I pointed out that we had two loos, so I had a pack for each. I should have asked if she meant to be so rude, but dh wouldn't let me chase her round the store..

Phifedean123 · 10/03/2020 13:07

@Curiosity101 oh I know thank you though, I'm gonna try and not use too much for now and am hoping my dad can pick me some up in aldi later. What a bloody nightmare 😩

SistemaAddict · 10/03/2020 13:42

I'm off to waitrose later. Thankfully due to brexit prep I don't need loo roll. I need lentil crisps, toasting muffins, and fruit. And halloumi fries. Well, want, not need.

DopeyDazy · 10/03/2020 13:48

going to Costco tonite, taking Transit van

SistemaAddict · 10/03/2020 14:11

The dc are coming with me. This is a nightmare at the best of times but thankfully waitrose has less aisles of treats than tesco and Asda so they might not talk me into too many extras.

SistemaAddict · 10/03/2020 17:59

I am never taking the dc to waitrose again. Little buggers. The loo roll section had about 6 packs left. I didn't check soap as didn't need any as I stocked up for brexit Grin Thry we're out of lentil waves though Sad Everything else looked as normal.

Sh05 · 10/03/2020 18:19

I've just driven past a farmfoods store and there was a large truck load of loo rolls being delivered!

earnshaw47 · 10/03/2020 19:19

i do not get the reason for stock piling , do they people know something the rest of us dont, unfortunately in times like the it brings out the worst in some people and not be so selfish

TabbyMumz · 10/03/2020 19:28

"do they people know something the rest of us dont,"
Possibly they know that there is a good chance they will need to self isolate at some point in the near future and need to prepare?

HeronLanyon · 10/03/2020 21:29

It’s pretty simple - I know if I become ill and cannot leave my flat for a period then I need food in my flat ! That’s all. Not 100s of loo roll - just good and stuff so I can be isolated if need be. We’ve been told to do this ffs.

HeronLanyon · 10/03/2020 21:29

Food not ‘good’. Ffs Grin

ivykaty44 · 11/03/2020 22:12

I popped to sainsbury tonight after work to get shopping for elderly father, I picked up a basket of food items for him.

I couldn’t get sardines in tomato sauce, biscuits we’re decimated & two packets of big rolls as I wandered passed 😳
No pasta & chicken was fairly 🐻

Wine was full stocked 🥳
