Thanks @Choux. I really hope we don't too, but one thing I've learnt as the mum of an SN child, is its better to think worst case and prepare for it, so that DC can be warned and prepped in advance, than to just muddle along assuming we'd cope somehow, because that leads to meltdowns.
DS would be far more distressed by being away from us than by having to eat cold food for a few days. We have an older DC too, and assuming that they are not ill, they could prepare simple meals like soup, noodles etc, so this really is worst case planning for us.
