Nope, it's times like this that show how useless he is!

alloutoffucks · 02/03/2020 12:27

Yes Johnson is not running the response to this.
When people are worried the leader giving calm sensible advice makes a big difference.

alloutoffucks · 02/03/2020 12:28

I know one thing making me feel anxious about all this is that I don't think the Government are at all competent.

HHH3 · 02/03/2020 12:31

I’ve been watching these threads but haven’t commented until now. And not sure if this has already been posted.

But this MS drug is being trialled for COVID-19

Skyejuly · 02/03/2020 12:32

I would never have voted for boris and he is just acting as I imagined he would be - useless.

Mittens030869 · 02/03/2020 12:32

This head in sand mentality is quite typical in this country. It reminds me of when Major's Tory government refused to accept that BSE could transfer from cows to humans through eating beef. It was only when people started to die from cCJD that they had to accept the reality of it. (That disease was always fatal too, and a horrendous way to die.(

The government's attitude appears to be, let's pretend it isn't happening.

SistemaAddict · 02/03/2020 12:33

Yes, a competent government would make a big difference to how people felt about this. We need to have confidence in our leaders and we just don't. We can't. And wtf are they doing about people who are knowingly risking others by not self-isolating? I feel so angry that my kids' school is at risk due to a family thinking they are above guidance. Lovely family too but no fucking sense it seems.

Angelw · 02/03/2020 12:34

I’m worried about the new confirmed case with a health care worker in Hertfordshire at a famous cancer treatment hospital confirmed Confused. Where are we heading Hmm?

Number12 · 02/03/2020 12:34

I thought Nicola sturgeon was very good actually, boris however....

redstararnie76 · 02/03/2020 12:34

It's all ok, folks, Boris is telling us to keep washing our hands - we'll be fine now.

NEW: Netherlands reports 8 new cases of coronavirus, raising total to 18 t.co/eUoE2b20hL

MarshaBradyo · 02/03/2020 12:37

Is he going to be stuck on repeat like May’s strong and stable

confusedandtired99 · 02/03/2020 12:38

I wish he would just do us all a favour and naff off. Incompetent buffoon

BrokenBrit · 02/03/2020 12:40

New Coronavirus topic threads not appearing in active anymore?

AlunWynsKnee · 02/03/2020 12:41

I know this is daft but I have OCD anxiety (diagnosed) so indulge me.
DH and I don't have much in the way of family who aren't elderly. I'm having a minor panic about what would happen to dc if we were ill - properly ill at home or in hospital - and the 9 year old was OK. Nobody would want to take them in because they'd be incubating it. Anyone got any idea?

Number12 · 02/03/2020 12:42

Oh my lord if I see another interview on TV with some expert at home/work looking down at their laptop camera I might just scream. I don't want to see up your nose, its the worse possible angle, not flattering. Why don't they put the laptop on a box or something so they are face on?? Grin

Oldmrswasherwoman · 02/03/2020 12:43

Completely underwhelmed by BJs statement just now.

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/03/2020 12:44

The only reason they put the threads into a new topic is so that they can be hidden. It is not a good development.

DressingGownofDoom · 02/03/2020 12:44

The Coronavirus topic isn't showing up on my mobile app?

SistemaAddict · 02/03/2020 12:45

Is his plan like his oven ready brexit?

ofwarren · 02/03/2020 12:45

I agree Hasa it's a disgrace

alloutoffucks · 02/03/2020 12:46

@AlunWynsKnee If you were both in hospital your DC would go to a foster home till you were well enough.
Much more likely is you both feeling ill at home. In that case you manage as best you can. Make sure you have easy things in like cereal and sandwiches they can make, and accept they will watch a lot of TV.

AvocadoOwl · 02/03/2020 12:49

Question about the EU pandemic early warning system that we apparently are not staying part of for political reasons: why on earth is something like that dependent on politics?! Surely it's in every country's own interest to share information regarding a pandemic, regardless of politics? Confused

The whole world should be completely transparent when it comes to sharing information re serious infectious diseases, not just those in a special pandemic club- what about countries who don't have the money or the political clout to part of such an agreement? Madness.

BiBiBirdie · 02/03/2020 12:50

Two mum's had a meeting at the DCs school this morning and it had been very reassuring.
Headteacher is going to keep us all up to date as soon as she knows anything, obviously keeping individual names to herself.
All staff have been told that if they feel even slightly unwell, do not come in under any circumstances.
School have now rectified the handwash situation and all toilets are being checked every two hours, as well as wiping banisters and handles.
Stations are being set up in all buildings with hand sanitizer, and pupils will be encouraged to use these on entering and leaving buildings. They obviously can't force them to as we're a secondary but I think if it's visible they will for the most part use them.
Any people coming in will be asked to use sanitizer on entry and whether they have traveled recently.
The school head argued with LEA for a special absence code for CV, and will not support the LEA fining over it.
She actually said if she had her way all schools would shut for a fortnight so they can be cleaned and with Half Term travel seemingly fueling the rise in numbers but it's not practical or allowed currently.
Very reassuring, especially knowing our area is now a CV area due to one teacher going about on her merry travels round her school and others.
