I am dumbfounded by the number of people talking about not travelling, not sending children to school, stockpiling food etc etc

I'm just carrying on with normal life. Going abroad next weekend. Getting trains etc.

I dont get the hysteria.

This thread is interesting and unsettling - it’s the 9th of April and some people are still agreeing with someone who said this is all an overreaction on the 1st of March.
I also read on a local community forum yesterday that a gardener had lost a few clients because they were being “OTT” regarding social distancing.
Feel like I’m living in two different worlds at the moment.

Etinox · 09/04/2020 09:23

@italy93 when you let them in you’re colluding with her wrong belief that there’s no need to socially isolate. Why do you let them in?

italy93 · 09/04/2020 10:11

@Etinox @shineaflight

I wish. It's not my house and they have a key.

Bolt the doors?

I was on this thread under a different name when it started. I'm looking forwards to hearing from people that told those of us who were extremely concerned, hysterical, scaremongering and the press were hyping things up.

Please come forwards and tell me people, were those of us concerned wrong? Gosh I sound like I'm gloating, I'm not, I just want people to take others who do research in to things seriously.

I'm surprised that there are still people who also believe Covid stats are skewed because of over-reporting deaths. When every single news source and medical source claims the polar opposite.

Also sickened by the I'm alright Jack mentality that is still being spewed by some posters. Even now. The combination of "my family isn't affected so bully for me" and "they would have died of flu anyway" is as repulsive today (maybe more so) as it was a month ago.

But some people really, genuinely don't give a fuck about anything outside their own cozy bubble I guess.

Thighmageddon · 09/04/2020 11:16

Whales if this thread continues it really will demonstrate the people that will screw us over.

And you're never going to get some to understand that people are reported as dying from CV despite having underlying health issues.

I'd really like to hear from all those that said "my family and I are healthy so we're not worried if we get it" after now hearing of young, healthy people are leaving the icu in a body bag.

TheCanterburyWhales · 09/04/2020 11:21

Yep.
Was just thinking. I'm alright. I've been in lockdown for a month today. Am in the south of Italy so we're largely unaffected bizarrely.
I could be one of those saying, nah, not worried because we're OK.
I could be one of those people saying "old gimmer was going to die of something this year anyway, why should I have to stay at home"
But my soul just isn't dirty enough.

Pinkblueberry · 09/04/2020 11:27

I’m not worried on a personal level no, but for certain groups of people it is unquestionably dangerous and life threatening so for their sake I think it’s fair to be cautious. I don’t follow the guidelines because I’m afraid to get Coronavirus but I would hate to be responsible for passing it on to someone vulnerable.

Mlou32 · 09/04/2020 11:34

@bigearringsbigsmile I'm just wondering how you're feeling about coronavirus now? Since things have moved on.

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 09/04/2020 11:36

Most of the people I know who have it or have died have been in their 20s/30s with no underlying health issues. The other 2 have high bmi so yes it bloody scares me. I dont even know that many people who have it yet

People on the next street to mine were all out together yesterday playing football in the street. Some people still just don't get it at all

Amboseli · 09/04/2020 11:43

Even if people aren't worried for themselves do they really not give a f*ck whether they pass it onto others who might not survive? I'd like to think people aren't so callous and selfish but obviously some people are.
