A spat on social media between Israel & Spain and “it looks as if the Israelis and the US had a hand in the Moroccans storming the border…”

Do you always believe things unquestioningly as long as they are critical of Israel or the US?

You know this exchange on X only kicked off because the Israeli diplomat Danny Danon accused Spain of repeatedly criticising Israel while declaring a state of emergency in Ceuta over a migration crisis.

“Maybe before it continues lecturing us it’s time it explained to the world why it continues to maintain colonial enclaves in Africa” he added, referring to the Spanish territories of Ceuta and Melilla on Morocco’s Mediterranean coast.

Seemingly so, in order to sow discord and whip up fear of a "Muslim invasion" of Europe.

I'm actually heartened by the number of people across the political spectrum who instead of taking the bait are tracing the architects and directly calling them out.

We've seen this movie before, the removal of Gaddafi in Libya leading directly to the last "migration crisis". Libyan weapons then being funnelled assisted by Western intelligence agencies to "Syrian rebels" aka ISIS whose barbarism caused many to flee.

"On Monday the trial in London of a Swedish man, Bherlin Gildo, accused of terrorism in Syria, collapsed after it became clear British intelligence had been arming the same rebel groups the defendant was charged with supporting.

The prosecution abandoned the case, apparently to avoid embarrassing the intelligence services. The defence argued that going ahead with the trial would have been an “affront to justice” when there was plenty of evidence the British state was itself providing “extensive support” to the armed Syrian opposition.

Why would the American Congress allocate $20 million to Morocco in April 2026 and specifically mention Ceuta and the territorial dispute. Looks like the Strait of Gibraltar is now in play.

Saudi Arabia is gearing up for a major offensive against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, by sea and possibly including a ground offensive, the Guardian reported on Thursday.

The report came after the Saudi Defence ministry issued a joint statement with 13 other countries announcing a maritime defence alliance to secure navigation around the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The alliance includes Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Nigeria, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Turkey and Yemen. The Saudis have also asked the US, as well as several European countries, to join the alliance.

Israel has not been accused of having “a hand in” the migration crisis from any reputable source I can find. Though a Moroccan news site has accused Israel of “exploiting the migration crisis in Ceuta to settle scores in Spain”.

A Moroccan source told Ynet that many Moroccans rejected the description of the event as illegal migration. “Many Moroccans said the incident had nothing to do with illegal immigration but rather with Moroccans crossing the border into a Moroccan city under Spanish occupation” the source said.

“They argued that the problem is the occupation itself, not the arrival of Moroccans on their ancestral land”.

Need a strong alliance. About time The Houthis were dealt with by other nations.

Yes, as we've said before, it's jolly hypocritical of other countries to accuse Iran of funding terrorists when the US, the UK and all these GCC countries have been involved in funding and supporting terrorists. They've even installed terrorist leaders.

So you think it is a grand plan to escalate this war further in an already unstable region and further risk WW3? Some people seem to think that all these things are happening in isolation and can't seem to think ahead to the potential fall out.

It reminds me of the start of the war when there were lots of posters on here cheering the US and Israel in attacking Iran and saying that they supported Iranian women.

Re Ceuta.

Not been following it closely. My first thought was it was organised on TikTok or similar. I see Spain are saying criminal gangs. There is the thing about the Spanish court ruling on sea arrivals (Sounds similar to the US and Cuba). It was certainly organised, and does appear to be largely performative. But some were trying to enter by sea, and many unfortunately died.

What I don't get with Yemen is why no mention of the Yemeni Government. Saudi Arabia were fighting the Houthi to help them, but the President died I think.

My web is limited, but data I get say the Houthi control 1/3 of the territory and 2/3 of the population. Surely if any boots on ground are to be considered, they need to announce a plan for post Houthi ?

I see historically Yemen was split in two ( up to 1990), and that South Yemen was Marxist. If the official government leaned to Marxism, that would explain why the US has been keeping out. It would also explain why the original anti ship missiles the official Government had were older Chinese ones. That is, Yemen was soviet aligned, then became PRC aligned.

We seem to have a situation where nobody likes the Houthi ( except Iran ?), but nobody has liked the alternative either. And it's also one of the poorest nations on earth anyway.

The US Embassy has suggested its citizens be prepared to leave the UAE due to increased tensions and escalations. Looks like things are going to get bad again.

The US Embassy in Jordan has advised Americans to consider leaving the Middle East if regional tensions escalate. And also "advises all Americans to avoid travel to military bases in Jordan.”

For a country that claims to be the defender of personal freedom, they sure do seem to order their private citizens around an awful lot.
