Conflict in the Middle East

Trump is desperate. How can he resolve the Iran shitshow?

1000 replies

TooBigForMyBoots · 06/04/2026 00:32

He is flailing, desperate and increasingly unhinged. Weakening the USA, alienating allies and strengthening the enemies of democracy with every step.

How can he fix this?
Can he fix it at all?

But then ends it with 'God bless the good people of Iran'. I don't know how to link the full post but my mind is boggled. The ordinary Iranians must be terrified right now. I really do feel so sorry for them.

He seems to have absolutely no filter or any understanding of the damage, fear and chaos his words create. He's that detached from reality it appears to be like a game to him. I genuinely don't understand how passive the American public are with all this. Yes they slag him off, criticise, take part in no kings marches but they could do so much more to put a stop to this. And as for Congress....

Handeyethingyowl · 07/04/2026 13:55

Agree I don’t get why nobody in the US is stopping him when he is clearly insane.

It also doesn’t make sense because Israel never signed the 1968 Nuclear Non proliferation Treaty
Although they have never admitted to having nuclear weapons

They also did not sign the 2015 Iran nuclear deal signed between Iran, US, China, Russia, Germany, France, and Britain.

Iran has agreed to these deals when Israel never has and yet it’s Iran being bombed and not Israel
This war isn’t about nuclear weapons it’s about power, control, land and forcing submission

Edited

Israel has not threatened to use their nuclear weapons though (assuming they have them) - even when Hamas triggered a war by murdering over 1,000 of their civilians one day.

They have not pledged to bring death to any country. Iran has expressed that they want to destroy both Israel and the US. Do we believe that Iran would use nuclear weapons to destroy Israel and the US if they ever developed them?

Personally I do believe that. A lot of people do, which is why there is a lot of agreement (see the G7 statement dated 21st March 2026 for example) that Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.

Joint Statement from the G7 Foreign Ministers of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the USA and the High Representative of the EU.

The G7 has repeatedly stated that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon and that it must halt its ballistic missile program, end its destabilizing activities in the region and around the globe, and cease the appalling violence and repression against its own people.

There will be a lot of evangelicals praising the lord and getting ready for the rapture. They are his base. It's why so many of them voted for him.

When you think he can't stoop any lower. Trump: "a whole civilisation will die tonight"

It's quite chilling.

Netanyahu and his far right Government have made it very clear what they think.
There is no denying that

There is no proof Iran are developing nuclear weapons
There is no proof they would be used against Israel
They signed the deals, not Israel
There is also no denying that.

If Israel were so open about their nuclear capabilities they would sign the deals.

Yes it's true that Israel ought to be transparent about their nuclear capabilities and sign the relevant deals. That is a valid criticism against Israel.

But no, it's not reasonable to allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons because there is no "proof" that they wouldn't use them against Israel. They are openly committed to destroying Israel and attack them constantly via their proxies.

They chant "Death to America, Death to Israel".

They are not idle threats - 7/10/23 showed us that.

By paragraph
-Iran has not threatened to use nuclear weapons

-Incorrect
Netanyahu wiped Palestine off the map at the UNGA sep2023. Lest we forget !

-I don’t doubt no one wants Iran to have nuclear weapons. I also think after this war no one wants Israel to have them either and certainly the US too whilst a person like Trump hovers over the button

Do I believe Iran would use nuclear weapons against an enemy
possibly but they were prepared to sign the nuclear deal
Do I believe Israel would use nuclear weapons against their enemy
possibly and they haven’t signed a deal
Do I think the US would use nuclear weapons against an enemy. Well. They have. Twice.
but they have signed the nuclear proliferation deal

Perhaps if Israel signed a deal other countries might be more comfortable about any potential threat or lack thereof of their nuclear capabilities.

Personally I see all three as very dangerous countries now

KatiePricesKnickers · 07/04/2026 14:27

@RoyalImpatience ”I'm also staggered by how many weapons Israel has ? For such a tiny country it seems to have a never ending supply ?”

I wonder why?

My first paragraph said Israel has not threatened to use their nuclear weapons and that is not incorrect.

You said: Netanyahu wiped Palestine off the map at the UNGA sep2023.

Not by using a nuclear weapon they didn't.

If Israel had ever used a nuclear weapon there would be no question mark about whether they do or don't have them.

You may believe they have them (so do I, actually) but we can't know because they have never used them.

People acting surprised about this - really??

Same as people acting surprised by Israel spending so much money on defence 🙄

Well I think it's fair to say that reasonable people would be against the US developing nuclear weapons too under the current regime, were they in the process of doing so!

I hope they give him the wrong codes tonight.

If his spelling is anything to go by he will probably get locked out by putting them in wrong 3 times .

It's quite clear he is completely descending into madness. The rhetoric, the language being used etc are very much someone who is completely losing it.

I think we can put paid once and for all any argument that this was being done for the Iranian people when he uses comments like the "whole civilization will die tonight"

Like a petulant toddler lashing out, except far more dangerous.

RoyalImpatience · 07/04/2026 14:38

I'm not saying it's a good or bad thing it's just so incredibly armed for a small country !
Look.at other powers far bigger even the USA is reportedly running low on stuff

It's genuine wonderment !
They just keep on going and on so many fronts !

BerthaPotts · 07/04/2026 14:38

Not much use when a country already has nukes.

BerthaPotts · 07/04/2026 14:40

When the US and Israel first attacked Iran and many of us voiced our concerns or even spoke against it, we were very quickly shot down. Made to feel we were unreasonable for being against this war and it was all to help the Iranians and we should be happy etc. I hope more people can now see why it wasn't the greatest of plans.

Hummingbird01 · 07/04/2026 14:41

there is another option, give iran a fully functional nuke, and if they truly are a nation of peace and love then they will not use it ?

Twiglets1 · 07/04/2026 14:43

DuncinToffee · 07/04/2026 14:39

No you can't go back in time.

But you don't have to go back in time to prevent a dangerous regime from developing them, in the case of Iran.

Just because there are potentially dangerous regimes that already hold nuclear weapons (unfortunately) that is no argument for allowing others to join them.

The fewer countries that have them the better surely, and the IRGC have already demonstrated their violent & irrational tendencies.
