Conflict in the Middle East

Feel like once the hostages are handed over Israel will start bombing again

It seems too good to be true, a final end to the war.

After all the plans that were announced with regards to annexation and the Israeli far-right government members, I can’t help but feel that once all of the hostages are released Israel will go ham on Gaza.

There will be nothing to stop them bombing everywhere.

No hostages to avoid bombing.

No families pleading with the Israeli ministers.

Israel has broken so many ceasefires and this was with the hostages lives at stake.

I don’t know, but I can’t celebrate with everyone as I don’t believe it will last and my heart says that’s it’s going to get worse.

Further reports of the Hamas arrest campaign in Gaza City

Colour me surprised . Poor buggers.

Try looking at the news, Israeli press and social media. They are delighted that a ceasefire has happened and the hostages are coming home. As any decent person is.

Yes but that wasn’t the focus of my questions. We have of course seen many celebrations and demonstration of intent by Israelis. Not just now but throughout the last years.

What I said was

Has any country beyond Trumpland bought into the Israeli narrative? I wonder what normal Israelis think of having that guy as their only ally?

Israelis are celebrating, Gazans are celebrating, but some posters on MN are disgruntled because Trump is involved.

TomeTome · 11/10/2025 13:17

I don’t know if disgruntled is the right term. To me the man is awful. If he was the only one speaking up for me I would pause to think about why.

He's not the only one wanting a ceasefire or the ceasefire wouldn't have happened. I personally think its fucking brilliant that the most powerful man in the world wants to fix one of the world's most intractable problems rather than let it rumble and fester on. It spoils the narrative of the Americans encouraging genocide, I grant you, but I feel that's a small price to pay.

HellsBalls · 11/10/2025 13:34

So now Hamas are all over social media dishing out punishments to Gazans, threatening dissent with death, insisting on being part of the future of Gaza, will the Pro-Palestine marches now change their narrative from Israel to Hamas?

This is how I see it too.

Namechangedforgoodreasons · 11/10/2025 13:39

So in effect you’re saying you think abducting the hostages and refusing to release them until Hamas got what they wanted was a good idea. Have I got that right?

Twiglets1 · 11/10/2025 13:45

TomeTome · 11/10/2025 12:38

So is your position that most countries are allied with the Israeli narrative? To be clear I’m specifically referring to support for the genocide in Gaza? Are you based in the UK?

I’m based in England.

No my position is not that most countries support the war in Gaza.

My post said lots of countries are allies of Israel, including the UK.

Not everything is about this war! These are long standing political alliances which began after the war and will continue after it.

EsmaCannonball · 11/10/2025 13:47

Genocide victims don't generally get offered generous ceasefire terms, repeatedly reject said ceasefire terms and then quibble and prevaricate over the ceasefire terms.

I would be fucking grateful if he was helping me more than my own government.

Sorry … meant alliances that began before the war and will continue after it.

So basically the specific allying I was referring to is not what you were talking about?

So do you feel Israel has any support for its actions (I’m avoiding the term genocide despite it being widely accepted internationally because that discussion isn’t going anywhere) outside of the US, and I guess I really mean Trump and his groupies?

No, in fact the last march I saw being planned was agitating for military action against Israel.

And today there's this:

On the food thing, I think it’s just extremely uneven distribution, I have friends with family in Gaza, they are being price gouged by traders (who are selling them whats supposed to be free aid) and too terrified to go to the GHF sites because they believe they will get shot at by US and Israeli forces. They aren’t starving but they are suffering.

Some people will be fine because they have money or are well connected especially to Hamas, but those with few networks will be really struggling.

User37482 · 11/10/2025 14:31

PevenseygirlQQ · 11/10/2025 08:47

Wow

On August 22, 2025, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a United Nations-backed body, officially declared that famine was occurring in the Gaza Governorate, which includes Gaza City.

Guess they and many others are lying

Edited

I’ve seen some if these, parents and siblings look fine and theres some poor emaciated child. Yeah I agree many of them would have pre-existing conditions. They may be suffering not from a lack of food but medical aid, think feeding tubes, medicine etc not surprising because of the high rates of cousin marriage. It’s still fucking awful, the fact that it is probably a medical condition doesn’t make it any less awful and should motivate everyone to be fully in support of a ceasefire. But lying about it is just stupid when the rest of the child family look healthy.

User37482 · 11/10/2025 14:36

Jean Hatchet on twitter has also talked about women in Gaza being forced to exchange food for sex, its rape basically. So there are hungry people who are being coerced into degrading acts to obtain food for their children.

Before some fucker starts blaming the Israelis, theres is literally no situation currently in Gaza where a man is forced to demand sex for flour, there is no fucking excuse for rape. I’ve seen enough rape apologists on these boards and I will throw up if I see another woman on here blaming anyone other than the rapist for their crimes or pretending it just didn’t happen and ignoring the plight of women. You can fuck right off if you are about to say that.

SpaceRaccoon · 11/10/2025 15:24

Apparently the ceasefire isn't good enough for the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign:
"We won’t stop campaigning until Israel’s occupation and apartheid is ended and Palestine is free from the river to the sea."
x.com/PSCupdates/status/1976976377888096595

Nice and easy when you're in London and not the ones dying in Gaza I suppose. But it's also dangerous - this absolute nonsense from the West will potentially embolden those in Palestine so still wish or think it's feasible that they can somehow end Israel's existence.
The only realistic approach is acceptance that Israel isn't going anywhere.

Also a lot of these children were routinely being treated in Israeli hospitals for ongoing genetic illnesses before Oct 7th. Obviously that stopped after Oct 7th.

I think that would have had an impact on the conditions of these children.

TomeTome · 11/10/2025 16:07

In a famine the weakest starve first. I don’t understand the logic behind thinking it’s not that bad because the really skinny ones were probably sick already. There will be more than enough evidence of what has happened. Tens of thousands of tiny bodies who should have lived to laugh and play and live meaningful lives. It’s a tragedy and it must be recognised and never happen again.

Twiglets1 · 11/10/2025 16:44

@TomeTome your comment was I wonder what Israelis think about having Trump as their only ally.

But again, Trump is not their only ally. Whether we are talking about political allies or not ( & apparently you weren’t) it’s unrealistic of you to suggest that only Trump supports Israelis. Are you not aware that lots of people even on this board let alone in the whole of the UK, support Israel?

Israel also gets a lot of support from Germany & Germans, as another example. Which is not to say that there wouldn’t be a lot of Germans critical of the actions of the Israeli government. But there would also be many that ultimately support Israel in this war. Surely you are aware that people hold different opinions and it’s not Trump on his own supporting Israel?

TomeTome · 11/10/2025 18:48

The vast majority of people are deeply disgusted by the atrocities inflicted on the Palestinians. I’m surprised anyone thinks otherwise who has access to international news.

Absolutely, a few of the people killed on 7th October were Israelis who volunteered with driving Gazans to hospital regularly. i’m not sure that will be on offer after this war tbh but I hope the emiratis etc will step in and offer medical aid.
