Conflict in the Middle East

How is forced starvation allowed?

1000 replies

Tinycatnoise · 23/07/2025 22:28

The top story in the BBC right now is the starvation of Gazans by Israel. The images are horrifying and not dissimilar to seeing those images of concentration camps in Nazi Germany. I cried seeing those and am crying now. I am sure someone will claim antisemitism because of this statement, but anyone looking at these images of starving children would agree.

How is this still going on? I feel like we are watching a genocide take place that the world has turning a blind eye to. The daily shooting by Israel of people trying to get aid too is just barbaric. If nothing is being done to stop this, what is the next horror that will unfold in the world that people will just accept?

"The situation in Gaza is horrific but it bears no resemblance to the Holocaust whatsoever."

Starving children to death, does bear resemblance to the holocaust.

Discriminating against someone because of their religions does bear resemblance to the holocaust. There are so many videos on youtube where israeli jews say "we are the chosen ones". They say it to justify treating palestinians like shit.

Everyone is rightfully horrified at the pictures of starving children in gaza. You should be too

"Hamas was the aggressor in this wave of the conflict"

That is absolutel bullshit @SharonEllis and you know it.

Hamas attacked Israel for two days, october 7th and October 8th in 2023.

In retaliation, Israel have been attacking and bombing Gaza for one year and a half..

If one side attacks for two days, and the otjrr side attacks for a year and a half, which side is more of the aggressor?

Israel is.

Edited

I wasn't weighing up who was 'more' of an aggressor. I was saying Hamas was also an aggressor and knowingly triggered this wave of the conflict. You are welcome to argue about that as much as you like. My post was about Holocaust inversion. The Jews in Europe were in no shape or form in any way aggressors. The analogy with the Holocaust is historically inaccurate and clearly antisemitic.

No there are no comparisons. And you misunderstand the 'chosen ones'.

The Gazan citizens are also not aggresssors in any shape or form.

Yet they are being starved and killed.

We are talking about them

I didn't misunderstand "the chosen ones".

Ive watched a lot of videos where they interview israeli jewish people. Many of them say "we are entitled to this land and the palestinians are not, because we are the chosen ones"

Would that be those Gazan citizens, who treated Shani Louk's body like a death trophy?

That was Hamas who did that. Not ordinary Gazan civilians.

No we are talking about the Gazan children, who didn't do anything, and who are being starved to death.

They are being starved to death because aid isn't being distributed, which has already been inspected by the IDF.

There are conflicting accounts of what os happening with the aid.

The IDF are blaming other people.

Yes because the truth is a bitter pill to swallow. Even after UN employees took part in 7/10, they still hold credibility. The UN liaise with Hamas.

ETA: more specifically are UNRWA corrupt.

I hope noone reports this comment so it's removed. It shows what people like you REALLY think. You rightly shout about how disgusted you are with what is happening in Gaza yet spout hatred towards all jewish people in Israel because of what the government there is doing. Presumably you don't feel the same the other way, that all Palestinians are 'infected' to think like Hamas.

Know what?

That it was Hamas not non-Hamas afiliated civilians that brutalised Shani Louk's body and celebrated it?

dairydebris · 24/07/2025 08:19

Oh goody. A whole thread dedicated to Holocaust Inversion. I bet most posters haven't even bothered to look it up.

Can I make a suggestion that those who find that their concern and empathy for the suffering in Gaza just actually look away for a while? I dont think our brains have evolved to deal with seeing such things while being completely powerless to change what is happening. None of us are complicit, we are not our government, we are not responsible for choices being made by either our or the Israeli government.

All that's being achieved by threads such as this is more hatred. Which is what the problem is anyway.

Or spend some time reading up on the history of the region, and by that I mean going back to pre Islamic times and forward. Or even other conflicts that happened elsewhere, how they arose, how they were resolved. This might help with some much needed perspective.

TheWatersofMarch · 24/07/2025 08:19

I don’t understand how it can be happening. These are war crimes, the collective punishment of civilian population. How do we rise up?

Because i remember it being said on the news at the time,

And it says it about her online, when you google her name now?

If you do a quick google of Shani Louk's name, it says online

"Her body was paraded through the streets by hamas militants, and it became one of the first images of the Gazan war"

They are two separate issues you think its ok to say 'the cruelty of the nazis to the jews ancestors, has infected the minds of the current jews in Isrsel.' You are singling out Jews in a diverse society and perpetuating holocaust inversion. You need to be called out on your antisemitism.

No, unlike you, I can be angry about both. I am horrified by what is happening there at the moment but I am not for one minute, like you, blaming all Jews in Israel and saying their minds are infected. The same as I wouldn't say all Palestinians deserve what is happening to them because of what Hamas did.
You are blaming all Jews in Israel, that is literally what you've said. Let everyone make of that what they will

Maybe you should call out the israelis that are killing lots of children?

The lives of children is what is most important right now.

They didn't attack first.

Israel had already taken away basic human rights of Palestinians before that.
