Conflict in the Middle East

At long last the police are cracking down on hard marches

I think it's great that the police are starting to take supporting terrorists seriously and are now using anti terror legislation to start making the arrests that should have happened some time ago. As predicted as the Gaza conflict has ground on there are more and more pro Palestine looks prepared to flirt with proscribed groups.

Maybe some halal time or fines will make these people think a bit more.

A number of police officers on a road with some members of the public taking photos and filming. The police appear to be carrying a person although only their foot can be seen in the image.

More than 70 arrests at Palestine Action ban protests

The protests - and the arrests - come after the pro-Palestinian group was proscribed as a terror organisation.

That is not, in any form "evidence".

What "hard left" are you talking about?

The hard left, who carry our criminal acts. The hard left luvvy liberals, who don't mind making the Jewish community feel intimidated.

Quite easy to avoid tbh I live in a big city and there is always space to avoid or ignore. I also avoid the tourists, the big gig goers, the football, rugby and cricket fans that decend every week, the hoardes of language students and actual students. I barely notice the protestors unless I choose to.

But you might notice them more if they seemed to want you dead. A bit like being a Spurs supporter seated at the Arsenal end of the stadium.

The hard left, who carry our criminal acts. The hard left luvvy liberals, who don't mind making the Jewish community feel intimidated. The idiots, who break into UK military bases, to cause damage. The dopey idiots, who would be the first to be targeted by those they protect. Wake up.

That's a nice word salad you've got there, but still no closer to explaining who, precisely, you are referring to.

Funny how the term "hard left" is bandied about, yet the people who use it are never able to identify who they are levelling it at. Well, it's not funny in reality, since there is practically no such thing as a "hard left" in the UK. Even the revolutionary Communists aren't particularly "hard".

It's yet another example of "everything I don't like is woke", only this time it's "everyone who disagrees with my ridiculous outlook is Hard Left".

SisforSusanna · 13/07/2025 13:37

Gosh you really don’t need to be hard left or a liberal to oppose to the genocide in Gaza.

It’s Daily Mail labels.

Absolutely, and I've no idea why people conflate the two.

Agree. People are protesting, every week so far. Those who want to support a terrorist organisation should be aware they can be arrested.

No such thing as the hard left! Best tell Jezza Corbyn that. Wasn't he wrapped up in antisemitism claims? Your posts are transparent.

Blimey, yes, very interesting!

In a November 2023 interview, James “Fergie” Chambers said that he pays the legal fees of Palestine Action members. Chambers is an heir to what Forbes considers one of the wealthiest American family enterprises, Cox Enterprises, from which he has reportedly “inherited millions.” Chambers has stated, “I chant death to America every day” and posted that “We need to start making people who support Israel actually afraid to go out in public.” In October 2023, he posted that, “No faction of the Palestinian resistance, Hamas or other, has done anything wrong.”

And the co-founder due to stand trial next year for “one count of inviting support for a proscribed organisation, namely Hamas, under section 12(1A) of the Terrorism Act.”

Obviously nothing to worry about there, we should just let them crack on...

Coming from a proponent of the same inaccurate repetitive labels, such as genocide. Taker of the Guardian, are we?

That is true. But the marches I have been past are all about wanting the war to end and nothing about wanting further death.

Both Netanyahu and Gallant are alongside Hamas wanted for war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court and The UN, Amnesty and Doctors Without Borders have all called it a genocide, so it’s not a controversial view.

I do occasionally read the Guardian. I occasionally read the Daily Mail. I have a The Times subscription.

Exactly. It’s about ending the human suffering and ceasefire. I have marched next to all sorts of people. Lots of families with young children.

No one is arresting people in marches though just terrorist supporters, the thread title is a bit misleading.

How do you think 'From the River to the Sea' would be achieved without further death? What do you think 'Judaism yes, Zionism No' actually means?

So by that definition, acts of vandalism that happened during Kristallnacht can be described as mere criminal damage?

Surely you can see their actions are racially motivated? But that’s ok, because Jews don’t matter?

I agree with this. It's very obvious it's a movement motivated by antisemitism but they're clever with words to avoid accountability. Like the poster upthread jumping straight into the "Israel lobby". It's obvious antisemitism.

If Tommy Robinson built a protect group tomorrow saying he was defending Christians or something, would they be allowed to have mobs outside mosques? To boycott Muslim businesses? To vandalise Muslim companies?

They'd all have been jailed the first week it happened.

Jews don't count

I dislike the Daily Mail and I am ashamed of myself for reading it (online) for celebrity gossip. Describing people are hard left and liberal luvvies is very Daily Mail in particular the comment section.

Well maybe if the hard left gave it a rest, took off the keffiyehs and stopped intimidating people, they might command more credibility. I bet you have no problem with the ubiquitous far right label.

I think you are very focused on “the hard left”, ignoring that being pro palestine ie peace in Palestine and anti Israel occupation, is a pretty pedestrian view.

Yeah, threatening people, including patrons in eateries are doing nothing but stroking their own egos. I'm out with my situationship man, right now, so I'm signing out.
