Why kill Dr Marwan Sultan?

TakeMe2Insanity · 03/07/2025 11:24

Just that, why kill one of the few (2) cardiologists and his WHOLE family? So much for the targeted attacks. Or shall we go with the current zionist theory that all of Gaza is a sleeper cell.
Israel needs to be held to account for the hell they have created.

What is the evidence to suggest they specifically targeted him? What reason could they have? If you arguing that they targeted him, you must have valid reasons why and evidence that they targeted him rather than maybe a terrorist living next door.

Otherwise you’re just guessing and it seems far fetched to me they would target a cardiologist who represented no danger to them.

I am pointing out evidence of his property was very specifically targeted. There can only be two reasons - it was done on purpose or it was an accident.

”His son Ahmed said there was “no other explanation” other than that his father was deliberately targeted by the Israeli military. He also added that the floors where his father and their extended family were staying were the only parts of the block hit in the airstrike.”

If we don’t think it was him, what senior member of Hamas was in his family? Does his family not deserve an explanation, or are the lives of their family worth so little?

They deserve an explanation for why the IDF were targeting that block and I hope they get one. Though that won’t bring him back of course.

Very true @Twiglets1
We need a lot of explanations.

Twiglets1 · 04/07/2025 19:13

Just read about the incident on the BBC website and the IDF are not saying they targeted this doctor but said it has struck a "key terrorist" from Hamas in the Gaza City area and "regrets any harm to uninvolved individuals."

And? Who is the key terrorist that makes the death of innocent civilians warranted. Would you be satisfied with this explanation if numerous members of your family were killed?

And nothing.

It's a He said/She said situation where we don't know the truth.

Stripes56 · 04/07/2025 20:08

No it’s not he said she said situation.

It’s a simple request for more information. I would expect that. The IDF have told us about the senior Hamas members they have killed. They have told us about the Hezbollah leaders they have killed.

Why not now? It may not be a name we recognise but the IDF could explain what role the terrorist played.

For God's sake! Why assume I'm minimizing it?! It was a terrible tragedy, as all war is. I'm pushing back on the narrative that Israel is the root cause of the problem. In my opinion, that declaration of war was the root cause. The decision taken to not allow Jews any homeland of their own in their place of history, and instead to attempt to drive every last one of them out... to where? And in the shadow of the Holocaust!

Of course I put the blame for that war on the Arab coalition- they're the ones that declared it! Or was that war Israel's fault for having thousands of years of history in the region and needing a home of their own after suffering the worst genocide in history?
Everything flows from that declaration. History flows, one event and its consequences to the next.

Both Israel and Palestine need leadership truly commited to the other sides legitimate right to be there. Hamas isnt it. BN isnt it. I hope both find their way to better leadership soon. In the meantime, I wish Hamas would just surrender so innocent Palestinians stop getting needlessly slaughtered, Israeli sons and daughters no longer have to fight, and the hostages get returned.

It never fails to amaze me that people won't just join me in saying Hamas should just surrender, disarm, and return the hostages.

👌👌👌

PaxAeterna · 04/07/2025 17:38

@dairydebris Absolutely The situation is dark because there are no voices for peace. From the sounds of it there are many armed groups in Gaza and any transfer of power from Hamas would need to be carefully managed by an outside party such as in the Arab plan. So no I can’t agree that the first step is them dissolving. I think that should come at some point in a road of course but I just don’t think it is that simple.

Look up Realign for Palestine and Hamza Howidy, a recent Gazan refugee, for pragmatic, hopeful and not partisan.

Its fascinating how someone can admit to knowing little about this subject but still feel entitled to proceed to expand on their ill informed opinion. I don't know of any other subject where people feel compelled to tell the world what they think when they know so little.

Do your own research. You have no business wasting people's time when you admit yourself you dont know much.

chergar · 04/07/2025 22:31

how is it wasting people’s time? If I said oh I know loads about this and then my comment would you then accept what I wrote as true or would you challenge what I have written?
I may have done research and come to this conclusion? If my research is wrong correct what I have said.

This board has many narratives and reference links since Oct 23, have a deep dive.

You seriously expect me to engage with someone whose take on 7 October is 'when it fought back they took offense and declared war'. Watch the testimony of what happened on that day, then come back. The declaration of War was Hamas's.

I teach my children constantly, Fran Lebowitz’s phrase, “Think before you speak and read before you think.”

@chergar
You clearly hit a nerve!
Here’s another author for you- an Israeli historian who may not agree with the narratives of some posting on this board, but give a fairer account from the Palestinian side.

Think before you speak and read before you think

Wow! I know this is a complete derail, but that sentence and it’s kid brother “Empty vessels make most noise” are two of the most ghastly parenting strategies I have ever encountered.

We all want to encourage and develop critical thinking, but to see that an otherwise intelligent or well read adult still believes it can be achieved via the sneering pomposity contained in those two sentences leaves me astonished.

Edit to add: notwithstanding that, thanks for the book recommendation.

Its hard to tell whether you are intelligent or well read so I cant comment but its pretty adtonishing that you thought it was approproate to comment on someone else's approach to parenting, on the basis of one comment. A comment that was perfectly legitimate in the circumstances.

I acknowledged it was a complete derail from the theme of the thread and the poster quoted can reflect on my comment or not as she sees fit. I’m just some randomer on the internet, after all.

@Whatsinanamehey I think it’s awful when certain Israelis decide that no one is truly innocent on the “other side” of the war. They are damaged individuals in my opinion, and shouldn’t be serving in the military.

However, I do think you get that on the other side too with some Palestinians (whether Hamas or not) thinking any Israeli person is fair game to kill because they somehow deserve it. Hence some did celebrate the killing & kidnapping of Israeli civilians.

Very messed up thinking on both sides which makes peace still seem so far away.

Stormwalker · 11/09/2025 08:38
the documentary tantura might help for those who have no idea about how long this has been going on for. Also there is no Hamas in the west bank yet Palestinians are being killed, kidnapped and removed from their homes. I don't care for any ruling or semantics etc you go into someone else's neighbourhood and start kidnapping their children, killing their neighbours and stealing their homes and there will of course be a problem!
