Conflict in the Middle East

Why do you get all the knobs at Glastonbury? (Part 2)

Bob Vylan crying in their cornflakes after having their US visas revoked.
This is pretty serious as one ESTA question is ‘Have you ever been denied a U.S. visa you applied for with your current or previous passport, or have you ever been refused admission to the United States or withdrawn your application for admission at a U.S. port of entry?’

So no US work or holidays in the future for them.

Also three festivals have dropped them, so far.

Freedom of speech yes, freedom from the consequences, no.

Who are Bob Vylan? The British punks who had their US visas revoked for anti-IDF chants

The group’s ‘death to the IDF’ chant at Glastonbury ignited a firestorm – and prompted action from the US state department

I don’t think we are ever going to get an honest answer from the pro-Israelis, because they are defending their cause, regardless of the evidence in front of them. They refuse to see what the Israeli regime are doing to another group of people, because hey ho, someone equally as vile, and vicious did it to them. Not exactly humane is it?

Fupoffyagrasshole · 03/07/2025 19:30

Disgusting @HellsBalls as if the idf would stop even if they surrendered

your living in a dream world

how would you feel if one day you had to see your kids shot bombed or starved to death. I really can’t understand how you can be fine with these people having this happen to them just because you believe their leaders are terrorists.

You don’t think hamas are terrorists?

It's crazy isn't it. The US will welcome a man with a warrant out for his arrest for war crimes and crimes against humanity even give him a standing ovation but a black man speaking on stage is a step too far. Not to mention being pals(and then not pals and then pals again) with a man who threw a nazi salute on stage.

The hypocrisy of those who support Israel has really been laid bare this past while. At least some posters here have been honest and said that they don't care about people being starved and killed if they are Palestinian, I'd respect politicians more if they would own up to the same.

Why are you bringing his race into it?

BelleHathor · 03/07/2025 21:46

Race is relevant because quite a few people who have jumped on this bandwagon are engaging in covert if not explicit racism.

I've seen posts discussing his double barrelled name meaning that he's posh. Discussing his white mother and how his life wasn't really hard.

Look at this by an MBE, "Sounds like a Posh white boy" .

Not sure quite what you are on about here @HellsBalls? Think the conversation has moved on somewhat. But you keep clutching at those straws eh?

I think you raise an important point here. The vile and vicious government of Gaza (Hamas) launched an attack on Israel, in this attack many civilians were killed.

After the attack the government of Israel launched a (ongoing) retaliatory attack against on Gaza, in this attack many civilians are being killed.

The government of Gaza in their attack deliberately sought to kill civilians. This is clear cut.

There is debate as to whether the government of Israel are either a) deliberately seeking to kill Gazan civilians or b) trying to kill Hamas and trying to avoid killing civilians but unfortunately some will inevitably get killed or c) trying to kill Hamas and not really caring if any civilians get killed.

If they are just to kill Gazan civilians then I would argue that firstly for what purpose and secondly if they are doing this then they are not being very effective at it.

Most rational people would believe that it is either b or c. Unfortunately wars are never humane and it can always be argued that more can be done to minimise civilian casualties. But on the flip side if the focus is too much on minimising civilian casualties .

HellsBalls · 03/07/2025 20:56

Well the rest of you are pro-Palestine, I’m pro-Israel.
Neither of us are going to change sides or meet in the middle.
I’m still correct though that Hamas are terrorists. They did start this war. They don’t care for normal Gazans. They are being picked off by the IDF. They cannot win. They will lose. They triggered the destruction to Gaza. The Western governments are 100% behind Israel.
Israel will prevail.

Hamas didn’t start the war. Let’s not be silly.

What's the colour of Vylan's skin got to do with it?

I think they know exactly what is happening. I think they just genuinely don't care. Palestinians and to some people Muslims are not worthy of care. Islamaphobia is rife at the moment, look at the hate Mandami gets. The day he won the primary there were over 6000 posts noted online containing some form of Islamaphobia slur. You just have to mention Halal on here and they all assemble.

So many people don't even consider what happened during the year before Oct 7, they don't consider the dead children, the pogroms, the fact that it was an extremely deadly year for Palestinians. These people just don't matter to them. Do you remember the uproar when the UN chief said that Oct 7 didn't happen in a vacuum, the anger that someone would have the gall to consider that violence and occupation against Palestinians could have played a role in Oct 7 was insane. They don't care that Palestinian civillians had been deliberately targeted before then in 2023, they don't care that villages of civillians burned because Palestinians don't matter to them. That's the cold hard truth and that's why for years and years Israel have remained unsanctioned and armed by the West.

That’s a lovely thought. That I, and a fair number of people on this board do not agree with.

a). If Israel are so good at targeting Hamas, why after 20 odd months have they not managed to find their hostages, which Bibi is so adamant is a concern for a cease fire?

b). If Israel are so adamant that they have precision bombing, why is there little to no, of Gaza left?

c.) Why have Israel continued to bomb tent cities, hospitals, and refugee places, yet when 1 hospital in Israel took a hit, they called war crimes?

Bloody hypocrites the lot of them.

This actually makes me feel sick. The IDF continues to pick them off? The children you mean? What is actually wrong with you?

They are realistic? It is war, war is bloody and violent and horrible. Hamas declared war on Israel. Hamas are completely responsible for most of these actions. I don’t know what about this people don’t understand. Even the Realign for Palestine, a Palestinian run organisation, recognises this. You are being fed a whole lot of Iranian-backed propaganda.

His US visa was revoked when the US give visas to men who have warrants out for their arrest for war crimes and crimes against humanity. They revoke sanctions against Israeli extremists. But we are supposed to believe that the US think this blokes crimes were worse than those?

Of course they don't believe that. So why do you think they revoked his visa but are welcoming Netanyahu? Why do you think they revoked his visa but welcomed Ben Gvir? Why do you think they revoked his visa but welcomed Smotrich? Have you seen what these men have said and done?

So you're overhyping a situation, whilst complaining about the death chant being overhyped. That sounds about right.

Overhyping what situation? The fact that the US is ran by bigots who are happy to welcome war criminals, happy to provide the bombs to blow up children but pretend to be outraged by a black man on stage?

How is it irrelevant to a thread where the OP says Bob Vylan crying in their cornflakes after having their US visas revoked. It's right there. First line.

Trump can deny me a visa if he has a problem with my 'personal attacks' against him and his homies.

Read a little history and it will prevent you from writing such simplistic nonsense.

I’ve studied the whole conflict at university. I watched glued to the tv when Arafat rejected the very generous deal brokered by Clinton mainly because there was no right of return and they didn’t want to share Temple Mount. Bonkers. That was the best offer that has ever been presented to the Palestinians. Turns out Arafat was already preparing for the Second Intifada while at the Summit.

Unfortunately, the moderate Israeli leader Ehud Barak, in not getting the Deal signed weakened the moderate Israeli position possibly permanently and ushered in Netanyahu’s power plays.

Then in 2005, after the Second Intifada, there were free elections and the Palestinians chose Hamas, an Iranian backed terror organisation, much like the Italian mafia, but worse. We all know how that has worked out for the Gazan’s.
