The worst humanitarian crisis and people displacement

Sudan.

Barely on the news. Channel 4 currently is discussing the worst humanitarian crisis currently ( its NOT occurring in Gaza). People are actually REALLY starving and eating rats and leaves from the trees.

No marches, no flag waving, no slogans, no student interest, no protest on campus, no symbol wearing. We all know exactly why. No interest at all.

Well our Government didn't contribute to that disaster......

I don’t think that’s the reason….

And your view on the humanitarian crisis in Sudan is …?

ToBeOrNotToBee · 10/03/2025 20:00

Sudan is an actual disaster.
Slavery is alive and well.
Hundreds of thousands starving.
Children being kidnapped and sent to militia gangs for grooming with drugs, alcohol, sexual abuse, all to become child soldiers.
Rape of women, men and children is endemic.

And yet, no one, absolutely no one, gives a damn.

ImmediateReaction · 10/03/2025 20:00

Nope, not the reason it's ignored.

Try harder.

Does that mean than we have no empathy for the situation?

Can't our government put pressure on one side or the other, or even both, to resolve it?

I know. Screaming genocide and starvation constantly about Gaza. Yet the worst crisis with mass starvation is not interesting at all. There you go.

That it's a distraction from the truly oppressed group.

Wrong sort of victims, wrong sort of oppression.

Indeed.

Apparently some have no room for anything but gaza. If it was genuine concern for innocents, for children, then Sudan wouldn't be ignored.

They need better PR and more phone cameras and go-pros.

Do you have any comments on the people starving in Sudan? Any at all?

Our Government supported a genocide (which is what I actually meant but you didn't get it), what use do you think they are going to be? They have also cut foreign aid.

Another ridiculous post. What do you think my view is, if not utterly horrified???

So people shouldn't give a shit about Gaza because of what's happening in Sudan? What point exactly are you trying to make? You want a competition between two populations in horrific situations?

ImmediateReaction · 10/03/2025 20:11

BaMamma · 10/03/2025 20:05

They need better PR and more phone cameras and go-pros.

Also laundrettes to keep the uniforms pristine ready for showing off, printing presses to produce colourful banners about dead hostage babies also required.

Sudan don't have those things. The starving are in rags, showing their meal.of cooked rats. They don't have mobiles phones to wave around to share pictures though. Occasionally they might get journalists take a few images to share, as today on Channel 4, otherwise nothing.

This reads to me that you don't actually care about Sudan, you just posted about it to make a point about your views on the Palestine/Israel conflict which is quite tragic.

If you really cared about Sudan you could have made a thread just about Sudan.

ssd · 10/03/2025 20:11

Believe it or not, people can have complete sympathy with the horrors happening in Sudan and Gaza simultaneously.

If you are only horrified by one of these, you need a good long look at yourself.

Xraytime · 10/03/2025 20:13

But Sudan is mentioned at the protests and lots of people have been posting about for months.
Why are you only clocking on to this now? Bit slow

I give a shit about Gaza.
I also give a shit about Sudan.

It appears many don't care about anything else but Gaza. No sorrow for Sudan then, just Gaza. Interesting how concern is limited for some.

Sudan needs better PR, maybe people who SAY they care about innocents might care about them, probably not though.

It appears all children aren't equal.

Again, why are you using the crisis in Sudan to make a point about people protesting against what is happening in Palestine? It's really distasteful to make the whole thread about this. The people of Sudan are suffering in a manner that is almost unimaginable and here you are using their pain and suffering as a stick to beat others you disagree with.

Absolutely disgusting to use the crisis in Sudan to promote more anti Palestinian propaganda.
