Please, read, listen and see what is being done to innocent people here.

Remember them.

Now, perhaps more than at any previous time in history, we can easily know the human cost of hate and violence, and the human cost of looking away.

Remember them. And remember all the other innocent people who have died and continue to die because of hatred and because of apathy.

As you can see from the thread, many of the posters have been concerned about the children suffering in Africa, the concentration camps in China, human rights abuses and people in need around the world, and have a history of being actively involved in helping people in need. Therefore, I'm not sure what's "well said" about a post that accuses people of not having cared about these issues...?

Actually it was me that raised the issue about the children being butchered in Africa and put in concentration camps in China and about doing humanitarian work... the same person whose posts your were attacking @Scirocco . 🤦🏻‍♀️

The last time we had any interaction on this thread was 19/10/24, when you expressed the view that my posts were "the kind of sermonising, preachy nonsense that is really offensive". As I haven't sustained any major personality change in the intervening weeks, I'm unlikely to have become less offensive to you in that time, so you may wish to select alternative posters with whom to interact.

For the purposes of clarification in the thread, I did not attack the above poster. The above poster expressed concerns that people might be being hypocritical and only caring about the situation in Palestine instead of also caring about other humanitarian causes around the world. The post was quoted by another poster who said "well said". Given that by this point in the thread there were posts from multiple posters, myself included, demonstrating that our concern for humanitarian causes is not limited to Palestine (and includes concern for children in Africa, people in China and other issues around the world - which were given as examples of issues about which the previous poster was concerned people might not care), I asked the poster who had said "well said", what was "well said" about the post, presumably (it's been a while) in hopes of understanding why they felt this was still a concern despite posters contradicting the accusation/allegation.

No, I'm afraid you don't get to lecture people, insult them, make offensive comments - as you've admitted, or ti misrepresent their comments and then tell them whether and when they're allowed to respond.

You started a thread on a public discussion forum which was not wise if you only want to speak to people who agree with you.

I don't recall having made offensive comments to you (although you previously indicated that you found what I was saying to be offensive), and you are of course free to post whatever you wish within Talk Guidelines. I'm simply saying that, as you found something about my "sermonising, preachy nonsense" offensive, you may prefer to spend your time on activities other than interacting with someone to whom you appear to have had a strong negative reaction.

Well, if the thread's back near the top, here's a reminder of a family ripped apart by the actions of the IDF, Israeli government and extremists.

She was part of a group who broke into a building by ramming into it with a car and assaulted police officers with a sledgehammer. And now she's in prison. Good.

Daftasabroom · 15/11/2024 10:41

@Beyondthedarksun gosh. People suffering makes you happy?

People who committed serious crimes facing legal repercussions for it is good. Didn't realise that was controversial.

I think the issue is the act she was arrested under and the restrictions to her rights that brought. She was arrested under the terrorism act rather than arrested for vandalism even though she has not been charged with a terror offence, all very confusing.

@LilyMumsnet I'd appreciate it if you could explain why you've been deleting my posts which did not break the Talk Guidelines at all, and the last one of which was directed to you specifically asking you why you did this.... which you then didn't respond to and also deleted?!

I can see how ramming a building with a car and attacking police officers can be interpreted as terrorism.

But hey, apparently I'm just someone who gets their happiness from people's suffering so what the fuck do I know?

The group she was with when she was arrested.

I may have missed a post you have in mind but in my experience of these threads, over many months, Scirocco’s posts are not among those that are intentionally offensive, rude, thoughtless, lecturing, or insulting - and would not generally be thought to be so, even by those who may disagree with her points of view.

I completely agree. Scirocco is one of the fairest posters on here. And I speak as someone who has sometimes had a different perspective but she has never been rude or offensive and her points are fair and honest and I have learnt a lot from many of her posts.

Scirocco · 16/11/2024 23:28

Aww, thanks @ScrollingLeaves and @Limesodaagain - you guys are too kind.
