Just that really. I’ve felt such relief the past couple of days that my phone won’t be filled with a constant stream of murdered Palestinian kids and wailing parents. That all ends tomorrow and I have such a sense of foreboding even though I’m safe and comfortable thousands of miles away. I can’t begin to imagine the dread the Palestinians in Gaza must be feeling tonight knowing their genocide resumes tomorrow. When will it end 😞

@Struggggggling Israel prosecutes and jails those found guilty of rape so if it turns out to be true let's hope that's what happens.

stomachameleon · 07/12/2023 19:19

I have just seen it's josh Paul..Didn't he get fired for murdering 17 people in iraq and was in charge of the arms sale that perpetrated the worst human rights violations in Yemen?

He was also there 10 years and is slowly leaking info so my question would be why? Can't be morals.

paladium · 07/12/2023 19:19

@Stomacharmeleon the video above relates to the case of the rape of a boy in Israeli jail. When Josh Paul (US State department official) reported the rape of the child to Israel govt, IDF raided their offices the next day, took away all their computers and declared them a terrorist entity.

The particular part of the video that refers to it is at around 9 minutes.

So I think we can safely say that this won't get prosecuted. :(

He quit the State Department over US support for Israel. Here's why he did it

Josh Paul, a State Department official who resigned over the transfer of arms to Israel, talks to CNN's Christiane Amanpour about what led him to leave his j...

Ref your claims above re Josh Paul, sounds like a classic Israeli govt smear tactic to me.

Get called out, brand someone a terrorist, smear and defame them.

I can't speak to this particular situation but we've seen it all too often from Israeli govt happening to those that speak out against them.

I had a look but could only see a reference in a comment on reddit to the firing regarding Iraq. Can you provide a link to your evidence here please? Thanks.

Words I've used to describe recent events - abhorrent, violent, cruel, sadistic, chilling... The list goes on.

I did not mean to sound glib, I don't actually think anyone gets a 'victory' in debate on this because of the loss of civilian life is so great I don't think it can trivialised for wins.

But, I will continue to point out examples where Israeli P. R doesn't stack up to their actual actions. I think this has to be pointed out then when they frame themselves as moral crusaders freeing the world of Hamas whilst ethnically cleansing palestine in front of the world in the most violent assault we've seen on civilians in recent history in flagrent disregard for international law.

MrsSkylerWhite · 07/12/2023 22:07

I’ve just watched a Zionist politician telling Jeremy Bowen that that Israel is not an occupying for e in Gaza as it is part of Israel.
Unbelievable.

stormy4319trevor · 07/12/2023 22:32

That's interesting @MrsSkylerWhite I think I heard Levy say that Israel does not think the WB settlements are illegal recently also. There seems to be more public statements around regarding the OpT as legitimately Israel now.

I had to replay on iPlayer because I thought it was me, misunderstanding what the man had said. I’m an atheist, I’m on neither “side”, the situation on both is equally inhuman. I really couldn’t believe what I was hearing from the spokesperson of a Government supported by my country.

How can these extreme attitudes on either side be condoned by anyone with any integrity?

paladium · 07/12/2023 23:59

@MrsSkylerWhite it is really very shocking, but sadly an all too common extremist viewpoint espoused by so many.

Interesting article here outlining some similar awful things said recently.

It's The Guardian!

paladium · 08/12/2023 08:21

@Jupitersstorm and? It references actual things said by actual politicians, all provable with sources. The point is, they are on record repeatedly using genocidal dehumanising language, which you will see for yourself if you bother to look at it.

paladium · 08/12/2023 08:23

Just putting this here.

“Pause” ends tomorrow. Anyone else filled with dread ?
Efacsen · 08/12/2023 08:28

@paladium and the greatest number of children are under 10 yrs so not teenage fighters due to the 'population explosion' over the last decade
