“Pause” ends tomorrow. Anyone else filled with dread ?

Just that really. I’ve felt such relief the past couple of days that my phone won’t be filled with a constant stream of murdered Palestinian kids and wailing parents. That all ends tomorrow and I have such a sense of foreboding even though I’m safe and comfortable thousands of miles away. I can’t begin to imagine the dread the Palestinians in Gaza must be feeling tonight knowing their genocide resumes tomorrow. When will it end 😞

I stand with innocent citizens who are dying day after day regardless of their nationality or religion

The only people who would actually disagree with this statement in this situation are Hamas.

More like Israeli goverment and a lot of it’s people too.
Have you really not seen, heard or read how they talk?
Leaves your blood cold.

stomachameleon · 07/12/2023 12:49

@FreedomOfSpeechBelongToEveryone do you personally know any Israeli's or is all your info from X and tik tok?

This. It is terribly sad for Gaza but there is no choice but to eliminate terrorists theat.
Every other country would be doing the same and Israel drops leaflets, flares and phone calls and warnings before their sweeps to eradicate the Hamas pestilence.

paladium · 07/12/2023 13:31

@Jupitersstorm it is a choice of Israel's to confine the millions of population into an area the size of Heathrow airport. It is a choice of Israel's to prevent adequate aid, water and food coming into Gaza and to prevent humanitarian aid being administered. It is a choice of Israel's to persistently bomb "safe routes" and "safe areas" thus preventing limiting of civilian casualties. It is a choice of Israel's to prevent safe evacuation of sick patients at hospitals, such as the babies that died because they were prevented from being transported out, even though with Israel's collaboration this would have been possible. All of these are cruel and unnecessary choices Israel has taken that are war crimes and completely unnecessary with regards to eliminating Hamas.

It is Hamas' choice to have purposely goaded Israel into conflict, make sure their civilians are in the line of fire, hide tunnels and artillery in tunnels in under hospitals and homes, break ceasefires, keep hostages,do unspeakable things to other humans, vow destruction of the state of Israel.

I firmly believe that Israel are actually doing more than every other country in the circumstances to preserve life - both now and for the future. The world stood by and watched the destruction of seven million Jews. Israel are not going to stand by now. Hamas knew this and made it happen. Not enough people around the world are marching against Hamas the perpetrators.

My heart breaks for Israel and Palestinians.

It is the festival of Hanukkah. May the festival of lights shine a light upon the darkness of conflict and pray it ends soon.

It would appear that some people believe that Israel are nothing more than puppets of Hamas. They seem to think Israel has no self determination at all. I don't know why they aren't looking for this to be investigated if they truly believe that Hamas control the Israeli government and the Israeli government have no choice in their actions.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions and frankly where were the human rights organisations during the Holocaust?
I stand with Israel - now, then and forever. No Israel - no Jewish people - something that Hamas wants.

And it won't get it thankfully.

stomachameleon · 07/12/2023 11:56

What you mean is that western values and white victims are more import than Arab ones

@Wale90 you do release that most people in Israel aren't 'white victims' don't you?

I was highlighting the posters support of a white, Christian population that faced invasion and occupation over their vilification of a Arabic Islamic one when also faced with occupation and invasion...specifically these two examples are of largely ethnically homogenous makeup.

I believe the Israeli state, it's close alliance with the west, it's colonial nature, it's attempts at advertising its self as the homeland for diaspora when many of their ethnicity is white and whose ancestry is European and it's deeply racist views of the Palestinians which has allowed some of the worst examples of dehumanising language towards a population I have ever seen and it's policy of ethnic cleansing makes it a pretty good candidate for drawing deep parallels with a 'white' supremacist nation though.

Many modern day human rights organisations were founded specifically because of the holocaust, that tragedy which was successfully carried out in the depths of Eastern Europe with not Instagram in sight happened because it could not be seen. The creeping inertia of nationalism that slowly ramped up until the worst catastrophe of civilian death occurred.

We say never again, and it means never again for ANYONE.

Silence1 · 07/12/2023 14:18

@Jupitersstorm Israel dropped leaflets telling people to move to Rafah where they promptly dropped bombs on them. One of the details I remember reading was about a dead toddler whose feet were sticking out of the rubble.

Oh it was seen OK:

How the Holocaust happened in plain sight

Six million Jews were murdered between 1933 and 1945. How Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party turned anti-Semitism into genocide.

@Jupitersstorm Talking about the holocaust and the many British soldiers who lost theirs lives fighting. The same British soldiers who were killed by Israeli terrorists , their bodies strung up and booby trapped.

Toothyfruity · 07/12/2023 14:23

People saying that Israel is taking care to protect civilians.

I've fucking heard it all now.

Never again for Israel.
Just defending their citizens and Jewish diaspora. Nobody else is going to do it so nothing that any Pro Palestinian supporter can say or link to will make me think any differently.

Never again for Israel? But it's OK for Palestine?

Wale90 · 07/12/2023 14:38

For what it's worth I find holocaust denial abhorrent, the way people feel they can dissect it to 'disprove' it shows one of the worst types of anti semitism.

Looking back at it, the pieces of the puzzle are so incredibly easy to see what it was building to. The fact that several years of persecution, increasing violence, ghettoisation, discriminatory laws etc preceded it 'in plain sight' shows how deeply persecuted European Jews were. The term 'genocide' was first used in its wake and the failures of other nations to help is a dark mark on our history (Evian Conference). But I still stand that 'the final solution' was still far beyond the general publics comprehension at the time. It isn't that way now.

But it's Israel carrying out the genocide so your post makes no sense.
