I'm gut punched by closing lines to part 2 by@readingallnight Absolute devastation there.

Thank you for creating the link @Ohlalalalala

Last night and this morning searched for information about the patients apparently abandoned in the rubbish and debris strewn car-park at al Shifa - couldn't find even a mention of the hospital over the last 24 hours

The Irish Palestinian plastic surgeon hasn't posted on twitter since his distressed tweet on 23 Nov - and neither have his siblings in the UK

Just one sentence about the UN and that was about yesterdays humanitarian aid delivery quota

Curious as to how the small handful of staff got so many patients and beds out of the hospital without help - on one of the photos posted at the end of the last thread there's one man in blue theatre scrubs

Nothing either about how the director is faring at the tender mercies of Shin Beit tho' that isn't really so surprising

Will keep looking

@Efacsen thank you very much for this I just saw it now
I have also been wondering about the patients stranded in the car park and if they have been evacuated safely yet
Hamas is looking to extend the truce
If it happens then hopefully we will see a update

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 07:39

As a reminder for anyone joining the thread, the above is a continuation of what we were discussing in the other thread
Patients who were unable to flee after the full raid of the hospital by the IDF were last sewn stranded outside at the front of the hospital

The World Health Organization (WHO) reported 164 “attacks on healthcare” in Gaza since 7 October.

@Efacsen is it OK if we use this thread to also discuss the general impact on healthcare infrastructure in Gaza? I am personally hoping and praying for a full ceasefire but if it doesn't happen and the relentless bombing continues I'm afraid the attacks on healthcare will resume

And if a ceasefire does happen which would be excellent then what alternatives are being used to aid those in need of medical attention now that two thirds of hospitals in Gaza are no longer functioning

Efacsen · 27/11/2023 07:55

@Parkingt111 seems a good idea to expand it to hospitals and healthcare generally

Think this is good news

The photo gallery from where this pic originates has been updated [still with yesterdays date]

This photo is now shown from a wider angle and the vehicle in the bottom left hand corner is clearly some kind of medical evacuation coach

Another picture has been added of loads of ambulances waiting outside the hospital

I feel I've been 'had' by Al Jazeera making this evacuation into a drama about patients being abandoned and led you all astray as well - I'm very sorry

Seems like the patients are safely away from al shifa at last

@Efacsen thank you so much for that! It's definitely a relief to hear
And thank you for clarifying too

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 11:27

Do you all remember Dr Ghassan Abu sittah? He is holding a news conference in West minister right now to talk about his experience working as medic in Gaza during the war

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 11:32

This is a short two minute clip where he talks about it. The missiles used by Israel in urban areas were 'fragmentary' which is why there was so many cases of people and children who had limbs cut off
He said in one particularly bad night he had to carry out SIX amputations!

https://x.com/SkyNews/status/1729097835231003026?t=Wo-t38sEscl-WlywgcZ4vQ&s=08

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 11:34

He also talks about how some patients again including children come into the hospital with no other injuries except severe burns
Which indicates the use of white phosphorus as in the previous war with Gaza and Israel when he was a medic he witnessed the same horror

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 11:39

He estimates there are 'between 700 and 900 children with amputations of limbs'.

Just found this in local news. If true this is quite serious. The report is much longer but selected several paragraphs from it

The Israeli army has been holding the bodies of dozens of Palestinians killed during its genocide in the Gaza Strip beginning on 7 October, and Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has called for the creation of an independent international investigation committee into organ theft suspicions.

Euro-Med Monitor has documented the Israeli army’s confiscation of dozens of dead bodies from Al-Shifa Medical Complex and the Indonesian Hospital in the northern Gaza Strip, and others from the vicinity of the so-called “safe corridor” (Salah al-Din Road) designated for displaced people heading to the central and southern parts of the Strip.
According to Euro-Med Monitor, the Israeli army also dug up and confiscated the bodies from a mass grave that was established more than 10 days ago in one of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex’s courtyards.

Concerns about organ theft from the corpses were brought up by Euro-Med Monitor, which cited reports from medical professionals in Gaza who quickly examined a few bodies after their release. These medical professionals found evidence of organ theft, including missing cochleas and corneas as well as other vital organs like livers, kidneys, and hearts.
Doctors at several Gazan hospitals told the Euro-Med Monitor team that organ theft cannot be proven or disproven solely by forensic medical examination, since multiple bodies underwent surgical procedures prior to death. They stated that it was impossible for them to conduct a full analytical examination of the recovered corpses given the intense air and artillery attacks and influx of wounded civilians, but they detected several signs of possible organ theft by the Israeli military.

According to the Geneva-based rights organisation, Israel stores the bodies of dead Palestinians in what it refers to as “enemy combatant graves”, which are covert mass graves situated in particular locations such as closed military zones, where interments and burials are secretly conducted. The remains or bodies of the dead are marked only with metal plates.

Euro-Med Monitor confirmed that Israel is the only country that systematically holds the dead bodies of those it kills, and is classified as one of the world’s biggest hubs for the illegal trade of human organs under the pretext of “security deterrence” and in total violation of international charters and agreements.

Really dubious about that 'theory' TBH @EasterIssland

Organs for transplant are whisked to the recipient at speed packed in ice

Not left to decay in mass graves in a hot climate for 2 or 3 days

'Harvesting' organs from recently executed prisoners or even living ones is another matter

Might be dubious hence why I checked the source before posting it

refarding Euromed

Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor(commonly known as Euro-Med Monitor and sometimes as Euro-Med HRM[1][2]) is an independent, nonprofit organization for the protection of human rights

more in the news about some of the things you mention

According to an earlier report by Euro-Med Monitor, Israeli authorities has kept the dead bodies of Palestinians in subfreezing temperatures—sometimes below 40 degrees Celsius—in order to ensure that they remain undisturbed and to possibly hide the theft of organs.

Israel is thought to be the biggest hub for the illegal global trade in human organs, according to a 2008 investigation by the American CNN network, which also revealed that Israel participated in the theft of organs from dead Palestinians for illegal use.

Diseases are spreading among Gaza evacuees. This is a very serious situation of medical catastrophe.

Efacsen · 27/11/2023 14:27

IDK @EasterIssland keeping organs chilled makes more sense but even so needs to be done soon after death -the bodies at al-shifa weren't fresh by any means they were causing a health hazard hence the mass grave

There was a unsubstantiated 'rumour' that bodies had been removed from the grave at al-shifa in the search for deceased hostages - no idea if that is true or not

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 15:24

@EasterIssland I echo what @Efacsen said
I don't know or have read anything about that and wouldn't speculate on such a grave claim that hasn't been confirmed or reported in MSM

Parkingt111 · 27/11/2023 15:29

I came on to share this positive news

An evacuation flight has been boarding cancer patients from Gaza, including a baby with a brain tumour.
"They all seem very traumatised and of course they represent a fraction of the people who desperately need help in Gaza," special correspondent Alex Crawford, who is on the flight, said.
The flight, organised by the United Arab Emirates, was initially intended to transport wounded children - but many were too injured to move.

It still leaves in question what will happen to the children it was intended for but still some good news.
Really glad the 8 old month baby with a tumour will now recieve the care they need

The main reason why I’ve shared it is because it’s an independent organisation doing reporting it and not typical news closer to one or another side of the conflict.

Toothyfruity · 27/11/2023 16:13

I was also going completely dismiss that story for being too batshit to be true but apparently this was something Israeli doctors have admitted to in the past - this article from 2009 for example: Doctor admits Israeli pathologists harvested organs without consent | Israel | The Guardian

The story posted by @EasterIssland is being reported in a few mainstream outlets.

I saw on social media that there are rumours that the bodies were stolen to make some of the videos of what happened in Israel when Hamas attacked that are being shown only to journalists. I haven't seen that reported in any news outlet though so presumably it's not true. Also no one has published any of the footage so it can't be examined.

Do we know for sure that bodies were stolen?
