They have now arrived in Abu Dhabi
I think the ending of the article really sums up the sad reality for the civilians of Gaza right now.
When I read how some were only left with a small carrier bag of possessions and how much we have to be grateful for. Its less than what some of us would take with us on a day trip

It was noticeable what few possessions the passengers arrived with.
Many came away from Gaza carrying just small plastic bags. That is all they've been left with.
Many have seen relatives killed and lost their homes, their jobs, their future.
And many left behind whole families in the middle of the warzone. They left Gaza not knowing if they'll ever be back - and if they do return, just what exactly they'll return to.

@Parkingt111 thank you for posting this positive news story - think UEA have already taken some injured children? but such a long way to go

The children's cancer ward from Ranissi hospital was evacuated to Turkey [at least it's a bit nearer] and there are plans to evacuate 1000 adult cancer patients too

I feel that this man can't win either way, if he knew Hamas were there in what reality would anyone expect him to dob them in to the IDF, surely he would fear for the consequences to his family if Hamas are as bad as they are portrayed, on the other hand the IDF have obviously decided he knew all about it and we all know how unreasonable they are, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, I'm genuinely concerned for his safety

The Israeli military forced families to evacuate Al Nasr Hospital, leaving behind their premature babies in the intensive care unit. Israel refused to release the babies.

The decomposed bodies of those babies have been found during this truce.

Oh my god this is absolutely horrific! Those poor babies! How is this not being reported in the media!

Ixxy1980 · 28/11/2023 21:08

Dr Ghassan, who was in Al Shifa hospital, met with Scotland Yard’s war crime unit today. Maybe something will come out of it but I’m not hopeful unfortunately!

I really hope this isn't true 🥺

Parkingt111 · 28/11/2023 23:12

Omg this is horrific if it's true!
Does anyone know if its verified? Or more details? @Efacsen by any chance?

@EasterIssland thank you
It's late so will check again tomorrow but it's too much to comprehend that the ill babies were left to die and the bodies left to decompose
My mind is struggling to process it

Sorry can't really help. Horrific No idea if it's 'real' or not. Quick search not anywhere mainstream incl Al Jazeera

When 'evacuating' hospitals means emptying them of patients, their relatives and staff without any plan as to where they'll go - it's possible this is real???

Details of what happened at the other hospitals [2/3 non-functioning now] when the spotlight was on Al Shifa aren't very clear at all - except perhaps the Indonesian hosp

When Ranissi childrens hosp was reported 'evacuated' 2 or 3 weeks ago there was an interview with one of the paeds nurses in the Guardian - very distressed man who said that patients had been put out onto the pavement and staff had been driven out at gun-point, he also said that patients who could not be moved were left behind incl babies in incubators. Was really surprised that it don't become more of a story at the time but there was so much else going on, so much chaos and so many news stories get dropped once the immediate drama is covered - maybe the patients were evacuated from the pavement, staff went back inside to the abandoned ones, who knows

Much more sceptical after being gulled by AJ over the al shifa patients abandoned in car park story - tho' there is more to that wh I'll post later

This was in yesterdays Guardian - does this seem/likely possible? - are there still 180 patients there? just slack journalism?

Or did they get a new generator and fuel?

So confusing

The Gaza health ministry says the dialysis unit at al-Shifa hospital has been reopened and is receiving patients. In a brief statement on Tuesday, the ministry invited patients to resume treatment, Associated Press reports.

The World Health Organization says there are still 180 patients, including 22 on kidney dialysis, and seven health care workers at the hospital.

Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:08

@Efacsen It certainly is not very clear
I'm going to try and see if I can put together better what is happening through different sources
I should think the PRCS would know as they said yesterday the fuel that was being held up and now allowed to the north as agreed was for their own ambulances

Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:09

On a side note have you seen Bidens message today
Sky news have worded it as his 'mixed message'

Efacsen · 29/11/2023 09:16

@Parkingt111 yes interesting re Biden

Saw an aerial photo of the Indonesian hospital earlier - still standing but the entire surrounding neighbourhood is destroyed

OP posts:
Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:31

I saw it too. Everything around it seems more or less destroyed
I remember the doctors saying before the raid of the indonesian hospital that it was incredibly difficult and terrifying for patients staff and those sheltering to hear strikes so close to the hospital they kept thinking it would be them next

The north of Gaza has been utterly destroyed
Even if the war ends, most of those who have been displaced will have no home to come back to

Mainly about Al Shifa [bombed front of hospital 3]
Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:33

It has become more or less uninhabitable
And the South which was overcrowded before the war is much much worse now
In some refugee camps there are up to 300 or so people sharing one toilet
No wonder there is concern about epidemics and diseases
They have not only been stripped off their homes and family members killed but also of their dignity

Efacsen · 29/11/2023 09:41

And all this is intentional - it's not caused by an earthquake or a volcanic eruption or some other natural disaster

I really can't work out how the IDF is going to destroy Hamas in the south with 2 million people living there - are they planning to rotate chunks of the population in and out of so called safe areas or send everyone back north [or more likely into Egypt]

And yes humiliating for the people concerned

OP posts:
Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:46

@Efacsen I really don't understand it either
So Biden is saying that they can't keep moving the civilians how they did in the North
Well what will happen then?
Raids?
According to one spokesperson from the military they said they expect the war to last atleast another two months
The international pressure on Israel right now is immense
I can't see how Biden will manage to continue supporting under the pressure of another two months

Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:47

It's the G7 summit today right? Let's see if anything positive transpires from there

Parkingt111 · 29/11/2023 09:52

Do you know what the rough figure is of how many Hamas militants have been killed in the war?
So I know there are general updates given here or there but is there a total? Does Israel know how many have been killed and also how many there are all together?
So I was just thinking after a month of intense bombardment and the destruction of much of civilian infrastructure in the North how much has been gained in terms of removing Hamas?

How effective has this strategy been?
And at what cost? Not only for Gaza but also for Israel
