Hi girls, this is the new, combined thread. I figured that only those lucky enough to manage it this month would make it into spring, so I'm aiming for a big summer belly. Good luck to all of us!

OP posts:
LilacLotus · 09/08/2005 22:01

love the title!
good luck to all joining!

Dana · 10/08/2005 08:53

Good morning all,
Great title homemama, though I am still hoping for a May baby!!

Glad you are feeling a bit better LilacLotus. Have said this before, but your DP sounds like a really cool guy

MandM, where in Canada are you going? Canada is in my top 3 of countries I want to visit. Unfortunately no money, so will have to wait.

Sarjon, well done on finishing your dissertation. It must be a great feeling!! (Come on, do a test )

Roobedoo · 10/08/2005 09:59

Hello, I've moved over from the May thread - though still hoping. Good luck to all.

MandM · 10/08/2005 10:09

Good morning everyone!

Great title Homemama

Glad you're feeling better LL - and I agree with Dana - you're dh sounds fantastic!

Dana - we're going to go touring round Ontario. We have applied to emigrate out there, but the waiting times are massive at the moment so it is likely to be at least next spring before we hear anything, so we want to start a bit of research/planning etc. Exciting!

Nothing else new here - just hoping we get some more BFPs soon on this new thread! Fingers crossed [simle]

Dana · 10/08/2005 11:01

Wow, that sounds really exciting MandM! What made you decide to emigrate? Do you know anybody there or is it for work reasons or...?

homemama · 10/08/2005 11:59

How exciting MandM!
We visited Toronto a few years ago. I found it quite sppoky at first as the streets seemed deserted. Then I found out that underground was miles of shopping mall and car parks. So everyone was underneath me. Lake Ontario is like a sea!

Hello All . I have just started on this rollercoaster and thought I was going crazy so its been great to find you all and just hope we are all large ladies next summer lol. Would be a great way to spend the sunny summer days....

Loubie37 · 10/08/2005 13:30

Hi

Hope you don't mind me joining you? A bit about us:

Me 37
H2B 25
DD 13
DS 11 (both from my first marriage, h2b has no kids yet)

We've been TTC since Jun 04 with no success other than a very early m/c in Jan. We're now under a fertility specialist who has diagnosed Anovulatory Disfunction (I don't always OV even though my cycles are fairly regular). I'm starting Clomid next month, once this cycle is done with, but I'm very impatient - I'm only on CD7!!

Roobedoo - I notice from another thread that you've started on Clomid recently, could you give me any idea of what to expect? I'm on 100mg per day CD 2-6, how about you?

Good luck everyone, I hope there's lots of BFPs soon

Loubie xx

Roobedoo · 10/08/2005 13:43

Hello Loubie, I'm on 100mg on D2-6 also. Having read all there is to read about the side effects of clomid I was convinced I was going to turn into a monster within 5 minutes of taking the first pill! Fortunately I was just a bit grumpy/snappy and had a couple of hot flushes during the night. Katierocket is also on clomid and I think she didn't suffer too much either. Got my pelvic scan in 2 days to see if the clomid is doing what it should - can't wait!

It's horrible having to wait for AF to start - I was getting really frustrated, but good luck.

lunavix · 10/08/2005 16:38

Hi everyone!

Thought I'd pop in, dh and I are ttc no 2. Ds is 15 months, and I came off the depo injection a month ago, so an early conception may be wishful thinking, however I was only on it for 9 months so fingers crossed! Haven't had af yet either so who knows!

I had 3 m/c before ds, so while I know that doesn't technically affect any pg now, it's still in the back of my mind...

katierocket · 10/08/2005 16:41

hello loubie, yes I am on clomid too, first month. It's OK, not too bad, i was expecting to be 20 stone with a beard but not so far....

there is another good thread under conception called 'Any advice on Clomid?' or similar, it's got some good info on it.

I've been TTC no2 for 15 months, conceived DS first cycle.

LilacLotus · 10/08/2005 16:47

just want to welcome you all.
my stats for newcomers:
me: 27
DP: 27
DD : 4
on CD 9 atm, into the second month of TTC no2 after coming off the pill in june.
good luck girls!!!

loveverona · 10/08/2005 16:54

Hi everyone, sorry havent' managed to sit down at the computer for the past couple of days! Great idea to start a new thread, although I think this will be soooo long too soon. Love the new title! Here's hopin'!

MandM - I was really moved by your email. I don't have direct experience of what you are talking about, but of course however your child is they're YOUR child and you love them more than anything in the world. Of course there'll be difficulties and challenges, but I imagine none of those things matter when you see how happy they are and their very own personality shines through. I'm not really explaining myself very well and I hope that doesn't sound too ignorant...

Loubie37 · 10/08/2005 17:04

Thanks Roobedoo and katierocket, I'm so glad I'm not alone in all this although I'll be a month behind you by the time I start!

Two questions for you if you don't mind....

  1. I always spot for 2-3 days before AF arrives, what do I count as day 1? I asked the specialist and he said the first day of spotting, but that doesn't seem right to me, it means I would start taking the Clomid at the back end of this cycle not the beginning of next?

  2. Do you think I should warn my boss in case I'm not my usual self or end up being off work sick due to side effects? (Although having read your posts I'm not quite so worried about them now - I've read some right horror stories on the net!!)

Also, I don't get any follow up check ups in the first cycle on the basis of it will take longer than one cycle to kick in - does this sound right? Cycles 2 and 3 I have to go for a 21 day blood test (no scans)

Thanks for your advice and good luck, I really hope it works for you!

Loubie xx

katierocket · 10/08/2005 17:18

loubie, I was told that the first day of your cycle is the day you wake up bleeding, not if you spot a little or start bleeding midway through a day.

I'm not being monitored at all so I'll probably have sextuplets or something! seriously I think each consultant is different depending on your individual circumstances.

I wouldn't say anything to your boss, unless you know her/him really well, you'll probably have nothing more than a little crabbiness. As twiglett says on the other clomid thread, sometimes I think you can read too much about these things. I always do, and you can always find horror stories if you look.

Jen1209 · 10/08/2005 20:21

Hi - I REALLY want to be fat for summer too!!!
I have an apt to see a Fertility Dr on 3 Oct and am going to ask about Clomid as I don't think I always OV. By this time I will know for sure as I am starting OV kits this month.

Good luck for us all and hope for some BFP's real soon!

MandM - my Mum went to Canada for 2 weeks with my Gran in May and loved it - they did the big train ride across country and said it was fab. Her best friend is also moving out there shortly (house is on the market in the UK) so looking forward to a visit there soon!

Fab title homemama!!!

Artoo · 11/08/2005 08:23

Hi ladies, I've moved here from the sping baby and the may/june threads.

A little about me:

Me: 34
DH: 35
Three cats.

Will be TTC #1 just as soon as my smear test results are back and clear. Hopefully this month, but you never can tell with the NHS

Hoping I can still get fat for summer

Hugs,
Artoo.

jane313 · 11/08/2005 09:52

In my case it should be get fatter for summer!

stats are
me 39
dh 37, married this year.
my son is 2.2 ttc 2 months, due on shortly, took an early pregnancy test, no joy. using saliva testing thing and just bought some ebay urine ones too for next month. Got pregnant first time last time which I know was incredibly lucky. Completely stressed out over selling house at moment which isn't helping

Loubie37 · 11/08/2005 09:52

Morning all - hope everyone is well

Jen - just a word of caution re OPKs - I don't OV every month (blood tests have shown this) and for the last 2 months I used OPKs. The first month showed I OVd but my chart didn't back this up, and last month I got 4 +ves in a row, before my tests run out!!

What I'm trying to say (I think!) is that OV kits can only predict the LH surge, they don't actually confirm that you've actually OV'd - some people (me included it seems) get the LH surge but don't always go on to OV for whatever reason. I'm starting Clomid next cycle so hopefully the problem will be solved.

Good luck at your appointment, I hope you get some answers

Loubie xx

Roobedoo · 11/08/2005 10:17

Agree with Loubie re the OPKs, I had similar misleading results with pee sticks and saliva test. Think the only way to really tell is to chart temp, but it's such a pain. But worth doing anyway just to get an idea of when you might be ovulating and if you're like me, it's good to feel like you're doing something positive.

Roobedoo · 11/08/2005 10:18

Meant to say it's worth doing to OPKs so you feel like you're doing something. x

MandM · 11/08/2005 10:42

Good Morning

It's really good that this thread has picked up again now. It seemed to go quiet for a while but looks like there are plenty of us out there all in the same boat.

Loveverona - thanks for that And of course you didn't sound ignorant. I completely understood what you meant but sometimes it's hard to find the right words isn't it?

Dana - It's not for work or family reasons. Just simply to get away from here (!) and hopefully have an exciting, improved future. Obviously, particularly for dd, improved standards of health care and education were important in our decision and also just a higher standard of living for us all as a family. There are things that will be difficult to leave behind ie family & friends, but on the whole I think it can only be a positive move. Of course, if things went drastically pear-shaped there would be nothing tying us to staying there but if we don't try our best to make a go of it we'll never know and probably live to regret it. Still got to hear about the visas yet though.................

How did you end up in the UK? I read on your stats that you are Danish, but hadn't realised before that.

Loubie37 · 11/08/2005 12:29

I know what you mean Roobedoo - I still use OPKs even though I might not ovulate - at least knowing when my surge is gives me a good idea of when the egg is going to pop out if it decides to that month

I chart too, for what it's worth but usually my charts are so erratic I can't make head nor tail of them! FF usually gives me a dotted coverline, but I take it with a pinch of salt withmy OV history....

homemama · 11/08/2005 12:48

Afternoon ladies,
I know I said I wasn't going to try this month but DH and I were a little tipsy last night and we forgot that we weren't suppose to be trying
I'm on CD13 today so it may have been a bit early to make a difference but who knows!

ooh good luck. being relaxed is beneficial, I'm sure alcohol is responsible for many babies, including my son!
